Leisurely Life in the Beast World - Chapter 190
A cold glint flashed through Fu Yi’s eyes. “It’s Lu Shi…”
Hearing the familiar name, Ji Nuan’s hand trembled, causing the small furball to flinch in pain.
The killing intent in Xiu Yan’s eyes began to spread.
The shaman paused her gentle stroking of Fu Yi’s fur, then resumed in a soothing motion. “Did he discover you?”
The small furball nodded. “I followed him into the forest and found Lu Te waiting there with a group of beastmen. It seems Lu Te wanted to lead the beastmen from the Tumang Tribe to seek refuge with one of the large tribes in the Nia Forest, but they were rejected.
Lu Shi agreed to help Lu Te capture Ji Nuan and bring her over so they could seek protection from the large tribe in the Nia Forest. I also overheard something about the Gelu Tribe and killing Bo Sen.
Most importantly, we must kill Lu Shi! He…”
“Po Ni, are you here?” A frantic voice of an unfamiliar beastman interrupted Fu Yi, causing everyone in the house to frown.
Standing by the door, Xiu Yan swiftly walked to the kang bed, grabbed the already bandaged small furball, and stuffed him into the large pocket of his beast hide clothing. Fu Yi felt his world spin and soon found himself in a dark, confined space filled with Xiu Yan’s masculine scent.
Compared to the soft and fragrant Ji Nuan, Fu Yi wrinkled his nose in slight disdain but remained silent, remembering the beastman outside. Quietly, he curled up and stayed still.
A hint of satisfaction flashed through Xiu Yan’s sharp eyes. Good, you know your place. Otherwise, my stone pot-sized fists aren’t just for show!
(Oh wow, you’re so impressive. Really? Hah!)
After Ji Nuan finished tidying up the medical supplies, the shaman finally spoke in her usual unhurried manner. “Who is it? Come in.”
The sound of hurried footsteps echoed as Sa Miu’er and Lu Shi appeared in the room, their expressions anxious. The unusually tall Lu Shi dropped to his knees with a loud thud by the kang bed, tears and anguish filling his honest-looking eyes. “Shaman, please, come look at Duo’er! She started complaining of stomach pain after eating, then vomited blood…”
Sa Miu’er nodded, his face full of worry. “After vomiting blood, my younger sister seemed to fall into a deep sleep and can’t be woken up. Our shaman and Bei Ni couldn’t figure out what’s wrong.”
As they spoke, the two beastmen began to choke with emotion, their sadness palpable in the room.
Ji Nuan and Xiu Yan exchanged a glance, both feeling a strange unease. Fu Yi, the small furball, fidgeted nervously in Xiu Yan’s pocket but was immediately silenced by a firm hand pressing him down.
“Bring Sa Duo’er here…” Ji Nuan’s voice broke the silence. “The shaman isn’t well enough to travel far. If you need her to examine Duo’er, you’ll have to bring her here.”
Lu Shi and Sa Miu’er wiped their tears and looked toward the shaman, who nodded gently. “Bring her here…”
The two beastmen clenched their teeth and finally stood. “Please wait. We’ll bring Duo’er right away.”
As the two left and their figures disappeared beyond the door, Ge Xing, the chief, finally arrived.
“Fu Yi still hasn’t been found. I switched places with Ge Tai to bring the tribe members back to eat before continuing… wait, what’s this…” Ge Xing trailed off as his gaze landed on the small furball poking its head out of Xiu Yan’s pocket.
The chief’s golden whiskers twitched, and the worry on his face vanished. His bull-like eyes widened as he exclaimed, “You little rascal, what are you doing hiding in Xiu Yan’s beast hide?”
Ji Nuan chuckled awkwardly before stepping forward to pull Ge Xing into the house. She quickly summarized what had happened to Fu Yi.
