Leisurely Life in the Beast World - Chapter 189
“Lu Shi, why are you here? I’m hungry! Hurry and get me something to eat!” Sa Duo’er’s spoiled voice carried over, full of irritation.
The gloomy aura surrounding Lu Shi dissipated as he heard her. A doting smile appeared on his lips. “Something happened, so I came to help. You go back and wait for me. I’ll grill some meat for you!”
Sa Duo’er pouted and let out a soft huff before raising her chin and walking toward the tribe.
Lu Shi watched her figure grow distant, his expression flickering with unreadable emotions.
“I’m back!” A cool, clear voice called from outside the house, lighting up Ji Nuan’s eyes as she ran out to greet him.
Sure enough, the familiar tall figure stood at the door.
“How was it today? You didn’t run into any danger, did you?”
The young female’s soft and caring tone reached his ears, bringing a faint smile to Xiu Yan’s lips. His deep eyes seemed to hold a sparkle. “No, we didn’t encounter any wild beast packs. Everyone is safe.”
“Uh… I… uh…” A timid female voice came from behind Xiu Yan, instantly drawing the attention of the beastmen nearby.
A small, dirty young female tugged nervously at the single piece of beast hide she wore. Her dark hands reached into the hide as if searching for something, a gesture that reminded the beastmen of the shaman.
“Hello, my name is Qi Mo. Our tribe was attacked by wild beasts this cold season, so we migrated here. Fu Yi told me to bring him to see your shaman or a silver-haired beastman.”
She lifted her gaze cautiously to glance at Xiu Yan.
Xiu Yan threw the prey on his shoulder to the ground and grabbed a handful of snow to wipe the blood from his arm. Only then did he walk to Ji Nuan’s side. “I saw Fu Yi at the tribe’s gate earlier and brought her back.”
Qi Mo nodded quickly and carefully presented the small furball she had been cradling. “When we met, Fu Yi was injured.”
Sure enough, the little furball lay weakly on her arm, managing to lift its eyelids and let out a faint “squeak squeak.”
Ji Nuan hurried forward to take the small furball from Qi Mo’s hands. “Let’s go inside to eat and rest. I’ll check on Fu Yi’s injury.”
Hearing the word “food,” Qi Mo swallowed hard and glanced shyly at Ji Nuan. The warm smile from the young female immediately put her at ease, and she grinned, flashing small white teeth, before eagerly following Ji Nuan inside.
“How is he, Nuan Nuan? Is Fu Yi badly hurt?” the shaman, seated on the kang bed, asked with some concern.
Ji Nuan smiled. “Don’t worry. His hind leg was dislocated from the impact. I’ve reset the bone, and he’ll be fine after a day of rest.”
The small furball, Fu Yi, let out a few weak squeaks and nuzzled against her arm, lying obediently on the kang bed as Ji Nuan treated him.
Meanwhile, Xiu Yan sat silently with a dark expression, watching Ji Nuan’s soft, pale hands move across Fu Yi’s body. His desire to grab the annoying furball and throw it out grew with every moment.
On the warm kang bed, Qi Mo, the little glutton, was busily eating. With both hands and a full mouth, her big dark eyes darted around mischievously, making her look adorably clever.
“Fu Yi, how did you get injured?” the shaman asked gently as she patted the little furball’s head.
