Leisurely Life in the Beast World - Chapter 188
“Chief, we found a young female outside the tribe. She claims she got separated from her migrating tribe. Should we let her in?”
Ji Nuan was chatting inside the house with Ge Ye when the beastman’s voice carried in from outside. Sharing a glance with Ge Ye, she asked, “A migration during such a dangerous cold season? Is that even possible?”
Ge Ye, cradling a chubby cub in her arms, replied lazily, “Maybe it’s a tribe like the Green Mountain Tribe, forced to move because of wild beast attacks.”
Ji Nuan thought for a moment. “That makes sense. This year has been unusual.”
“Bring her in,” said Ge Xing with a hint of sympathy. “Take her to the shaman to check if she’s sick.”
“The chief has agreed. Let her in.”
With a creaking sound, the heavy gate of the Watson Tribe opened, and Qi Mo, her little face blue and purple from the cold, was finally brought inside the towering walls.
Qi Mo swore she had never seen a tribe so beautiful and powerful. What were those mountain-like walls surrounding the tribe? Could they be a blessing from the Beast God?
“Where is this young female from? Why would she appear outside our tribe all alone?” A male voice snapped Qi Mo out of her awe.
Recalling what Fu Yi had told her, the little cub burst into tears. “Waaaah~ Hic~ My father~ Hic~ is missing~”
Though her words were broken up by sobs, the gathered beastmen understood her situation, she had gotten separated from her father.
“What’s in the beast hide you’re carrying? Shouldn’t we check it?” the same male voice asked.
Qi Mo lifted her red, tear-filled eyes to glance at the speaker. The tall, imposing beastman made her so nervous that she took several steps back.
Her retreat made Lu Shi frown, but he quickly replaced his expression with a righteous demeanor. “Little one, we need to check that you’re not carrying anything dangerous before you enter our tribe.”
Qi Mo’s lips quivered, and tears rolled down her cheeks again. “Qi Qi only has this one beast hide…”
(You want to check it? That’s so embarrassing!)
“What’s going on here?” A cool, magnetic voice rang out from the wall above. Following the gaze of the crowd, Qi Mo looked up to see a tall and striking beastman standing on the wall, carrying a massive wild beast on his shoulders.
“Xiu Yan, you’ve hunted another wild beast! That’s amazing!” The beastmen below exclaimed in admiration, their eyes filled with awe.
Xiu Yan nodded slightly and turned his attention to the unfamiliar young female below. His eyes flashed. “I’ll take this young female to the chief. You all can continue your patrol.”
The beastmen nodded and returned to the wall.
Unfolding the wings on his back, Xiu Yan descended gracefully, landing in front of Qi Mo. “Come.”
With that, he strode forward, carrying the wild beast, while Qi Mo bit her lip and timidly followed behind.
“Xiu Yan, this unfamiliar young female hasn’t been inspected yet. Letting her in like this isn’t right!” Lu Shi clenched his fists and took a step forward.
Xiu Yan halted, his sharp wolf eyes cutting toward Lu Shi. The cold glint in his gaze was like a beastman’s claws scraping against the neck, causing beads of sweat to form on Lu Shi’s forehead. “If you don’t want to stay, get out!”
His voice was utterly cold and merciless.
As Xiu Yan walked away with the young female, the bloodthirsty gleam in Lu Shi’s eyes slowly emerged. The honest smile on his lips twisted into a cruel smirk. “Tch…”
A soft snort, brimming with killing intent, faded into the air.
