Leisurely Life in the Beast World - Chapter 186
“We need to secretly send beastmen to search for Fu Yi. And make sure the Green Mountain Tribe doesn’t find out. Fu Yi’s disappearance is definitely linked to this Lu Shi,” Ge Xing said, stroking his chin thoughtfully.
Ji Nuan nodded. “Xiu Yan said Lu Shi has been loitering around the tribe gate ever since he returned from hunting today. He hasn’t been staying by Sa Duo’er’s side like he usually does.”
A flash of killing intent passed through Xiu Yan’s eyes. “This beast always gives me a strange feeling. His unusual behavior must be connected to Fu Yi’s disappearance.”
The shaman, often called grandmother, touched the wide sleeves of her beast hide garment, the emptiness making her eyes well up. “We must bring Fu Yi back quickly. That little cub… we’ve always sent him to handle dangerous tasks. We forgot that during the winter, he’s not as agile as he usually is.”
The mood in the room was heavy.
Meanwhile, Lu Shi grew increasingly restless as time passed. Night was falling, yet the beastman hadn’t returned. Could he have been eaten by a wild beast outside?
At this moment, the back mountain of the Watson Tribe was eerily quiet. So when a faint rustling noise came from under a tree, the little furball, Fu Yi, immediately opened his eyes. His round, dark green eyes glowed faintly in the night as he clearly saw the small, staggering figure below the tree.
“I’m not going back. Father is so annoying! He wants me to pair with Man Sen, who looks like the Ainilu Mountain Range and is not cute at all. No way am I agreeing to that,” came a soft, whiny voice that could only belong to a young female.
The voice, though complaining about her father, carried a faint tremor of fear.
Qi Mo was beginning to regret her decision. She hadn’t expected the forest at night to be so terrifying.
Hungry and cold, the little Qi Mo’s normally bright eyes were brimming with tears. Her chapped lips quivered in grievance, making her look utterly pitiful.
Her small, dirty paws clutched tightly at the single beast hide wrapped around her, as if any moment a terrifying wild beast might leap out at her from the surrounding darkness.
“Waaah, Father, Mother, Qi Qi is scared! Qi Qi is hungry and wants to eat meat! Waaah!” Her sobs rang clearly through the silent night, while Fu Yi could already hear the heavy breathing of wild beasts nearby, likely out hunting in the forest.
Despite the pain in his hind leg, Fu Yi crawled to the edge of the tree trunk and peered down. He rolled off the tree, landing directly in the arms of the young female.
“Squeak squeak!” he cried, gesturing urgently. “Climb the tree quickly, a wild beast is coming!”
Qi Mo looked at the little furball in her arms with delight, her eyes sparkling in surprise. She was utterly charmed. “It’s so cute!”
Seeing the little creature’s anxious gestures, she tilted her messy, nest-like hair. “What are you saying? I don’t understand!”
Fu Yi was momentarily speechless. Can’t we communicate properly here?
“Roar!” A deep growl came from behind them, and Fu Yi spun around, his fur standing on end. Sure enough, a gray forest bear was drooling as it stared hungrily at the two of them like delectable morsels.
Tears finally spilled from Qi Mo’s eyes. “Oh no, Mother! A beast wants to eat Qi Qi! Waaaaah!”
Her deafening wails startled Fu Yi so badly that he almost fell out of her arms. Even the forest bear, which had been salivating just moments before, flinched and shook its round ears, stepping back a few paces.
You’re the one scaring the beast to death!
