“Heh, little female cubs have a great flavor. Their meat is tender, sweet, and delicious!” Lu Shi spoke with a lingering relish on his face, saying words that made any beast shudder. Fu Yi’s wariness of this beast soared to the extreme.

This beast was too dangerous. Not only had he assaulted underage females, but he had even eaten them.

“Cub, you… if you keep doing this, you won’t live past fifty. Why…?” Lu Te truly couldn’t understand why his favorite cub had become like this.

Lu Shi didn’t seem inclined to continue the conversation. Adjusting the beast hide on his arm, he waved dismissively. “Father, just leave the task of capturing this little female cub to me. You’d better leave quickly, or else you might get noticed by the other beasts.”

After saying that, he ignored Lu Te and the others, turning around and vanishing into the vast snowy plains.

Lu Te stood in stunned silence for a long while. His usually tall and imposing figure seemed slightly hunched. Forcing himself to regain composure, he said, “Let’s go back and wait for Lu Shi’s news.”

The snowflakes danced in the sky, covering the tense atmosphere of the scene with a thick white blanket.

The sound of rustling came from the treetops. Shaking off the snow on his fur, Fu Yi flexed his stiff little paws. “Ugh, it’s freezing.”

“Heh, I knew something was following me. Who would’ve thought it was a little mink beast?” A cold, familiar voice came from the tree trunk behind him, making Fu Yi whirl around instantly.

Standing steadily on the thick trunk was none other than Lu Shi, who had supposedly left. His square, beastly face wore a savage, bloodthirsty grin as he fixed his gaze on the small furball. “Since you’ve overheard, how could I let you leave? On such a cold day, aren’t you moving slower than usual?”

As he finished speaking, Lu Shi crouched low, transforming into a massive tiger with black and yellow stripes. With astounding speed, he lunged at Fu Yi.

Fu Yi, with stiff paws, leapt to the left but was struck by Lu Shi’s swinging tiger tail. Pain shot through his hind legs.

“Eek!” The little furball let out a cry of pain as he tumbled down the tree.

The snow-covered ground, barely reaching a beastman’s calves, quickly swallowed the small furball upon impact.

Lu Shi’s powerful tiger claws swiped at the snow pit where Fu Yi had fallen, scattering snow everywhere, but the little beast was nowhere to be seen. Only a faint tunnel in the snow hinted at a direction.

“Roar!” Lu Shi let out an enraged growl before calming himself. He quickly donned his beast hide and sprinted toward the tribe.

He planned to block this beast at the tribe’s entrance and kill him before his secret could be revealed.

Fu Yi’s hind leg throbbed with pain from the blow, and as he tumbled down, the agony intensified. Taking advantage of his small size, he burrowed through the snow and fled, eventually making his way to the back mountain of the tribe.

Sweat dripped from his fur from the searing pain in his leg. After much effort, he climbed a tree and curled up in an abandoned bird’s nest to rest.

“Nuan Nuan, something’s wrong. Lu Shi has returned, but Fu Yi is nowhere to be seen.” Xiu Yan’s cool voice broke Ji Nuan’s focus on her task.

Throwing down the bone needle in her hand, Ji Nuan jumped off the bed in a hurry. “Are you still keeping an eye on Lu Shi?”

Xiu Yan’s brows furrowed slightly. “No, I haven’t felt Fu Yi’s presence near him.”

Ji Nuan grabbed Xiu Yan’s large, slender hand. “Let’s go! We need to find uncle and grandmother.”
