Inside the tribe, Ge Ye sat on the heated platform at Ge Xing’s house, eating with abandon. Her belly had grown so large it startled anyone who saw it.

Ji Nuan watched her nervously. “Xiao Ye, your belly is so big already! You should eat less. If the cubs grow too large, it’ll make giving birth more difficult!”

Ge Ye pouted and reluctantly put down the food in her hands, licking her fingers longingly. “Ever since I got pregnant with the cubs, I’ve been constantly hungry. I always want to eat so much!”

The shaman had already predicted that Xiao Ye would give birth within the next few days. It was a momentous occasion for the tribe, as this was the first time in years that a new cub was about to be born. Everyone was on edge.

Ji Nuan patted Ge Ye’s round belly. “Trust me, you should eat in moderation. If the cubs end up as chubby as Xiu Yan when he’s in his wolf form, it’ll hurt a lot to give birth!”

As soon as the words left her mouth, the room fell silent.

Ji Nuan felt a sudden chill on her back, her instincts warning her of imminent danger.

“Like me? Hmm? Chubby? Hmm?” A cold voice rose, each word sharper than the last. Ji Nuan could almost hear the sound of a beast grinding his teeth in frustration.

Ge Ye, showing no solidarity, shot Ji Nuan a good luck dealing with this look. Hugging her round belly, she agilely jumped off the platform and darted away. Her nimble movements belied her heavily pregnant state, as she fled with the grace of someone not at all near giving birth.

“I was just making an example, hehe. Xiu Yan, don’t take it seriously!” Ji Nuan immediately backtracked, turning around with a sheepish smile plastered across her face, attempting to appease the irate wolf beastman.

“Hmph.” Xiu Yan raised a brow, his piercing wolf eyes fixed on her, clearly unimpressed.

“Why not use Xiu Qi’s cub as an example instead?” he retorted, clearly annoyed by her jab at his size in beast form.

Ji Nuan muttered silently in her heart, Because Xiu Qi isn’t as chubby as you.

Of course, such thoughts stayed safely locked in her mind. She didn’t dare utter them aloud.

“Ji Nuan! Ji Nuan! Come quickly!” An anxious voice called from outside. “Xiao Ye just got pushed by that ugly Man Li, and now her belly hurts! She’s bleeding!”

Ji Nuan’s heart sank. She forgot all about Xiu Yan’s irritation and immediately ran outside.

Xiu Yan’s eyes flashed coldly. With one swift movement, he scooped Ji Nuan into his arms and sprinted toward the place she had pointed out.

Before they even got close, the metallic scent of blood carried on the cold wind assaulted their senses. Ji Nuan’s face turned pale, her worry growing stronger.

Outside the beast crowd, Man Li sat on the ground, her face ashen. She muttered repeatedly, “I didn’t mean to… I didn’t mean to!”

Recalling the sight of Ge Ye collapsing in pain moments ago, Man Li trembled all over, her fear nearly paralyzing her.

Fortunately, Ge Ye had collapsed near the shaman’s house. Song Yu had already carried her inside.

When Ji Nuan arrived, the shaman was cleaning the blood from Ge Ye’s body.
