Leisurely Life in the Beast World - Chapter 171
Ji Nuan nodded. “I see!”
Reaching into her clothes, she pulled out a small beast hide pouch no larger than a palm. “This has some medicine powder for treating the worm disease. You can have it.”
It was something she had brought along just in case, and to her surprise, it had come in handy.
Bo Sen’s face lit up with joy. His hands trembled as he accepted the small beast hide pouch, barely half the size of his palm. He gently touched it several times before carefully tucking it into his chest.
“When you get back, divide the powder into three portions. After the first dose, they’ll vomit or… you know, while squatting in the bushes, expel a lot of worms.
“After half a day, give the second dose to clear out the remaining worms. The third dose should be taken on the second day, and that’ll be enough.”
Ji Nuan explained everything in detail, and Bo Sen listened intently, memorizing every word.
“Then what happens afte—”
“Awoooo!”
A wolf’s howl, filled with urgency and fury, echoed through the forest, cutting Bo Sen’s words short.
The surrounding bushes were suddenly pushed aside as beastmen from the Watson and Tumang Tribes emerged, their low growls filled with menace as they surrounded the strangers.
A majestic silver wolf stepped forward, his sharp fangs glinting slightly, and his cold, predatory eyes radiating lethal intent.
“Strange beastmen, release the little female now, or none of you will leave this place alive.”
Xiu Yan’s voice was icier than Ji Nuan had ever heard before. Knowing it was because of her, warmth bloomed in her heart despite the tension.
“Xiu Yan, I’m fine. They just had some questions, and we’ve already talked things through.” Ji Nuan stepped forward to his side and gently stroked his smooth fur.
The silver wolf transformed into a tall beastman in an instant. Removing the bundle from his back, Xiu Yan took out a beast hide cloak and wrapped it around Ji Nuan before scooping her up into his arms.
Feeling how cold her small body was, Xiu Yan’s expression grew even frostier. “I understand. Go with Di Feng and warm up by the fire. I’ll join you shortly.”
He placed her on Di Feng’s back and watched until she was safely out of sight. Then, without hesitation, Xiu Yan leapt at Bo Sen, the beastman whose scent still lingered on the little female.
Ji Nuan sipped the steaming hot porridge, feeling its warmth spread through her body. Letting out a long sigh, she finally felt the fear from earlier catch up with her. Thankfully, the beastmen who captured her had no ill intentions. If they had…
Tsk! Best not to think about it!
“Feeling better?” A cold, magnetic voice came from behind her. Ji Nuan turned, delighted.
Sure enough, Xiu Yan was striding toward her.
“Much better, just a bit cold. Nothing else. What about those beastmen?” Ji Nuan asked, glancing behind him.
Xiu Yan reached out to pat her head, a faint but cold smile playing at his lips. “They said they needed to hurry back to their tribe and left.”
Ji Nuan nodded. They must have been eager to deliver the medicine.
“Huh?” Ji Nuan’s eyes caught a scratch on Xiu Yan’s arm. “How did you get hurt?”
Lowering his gaze to the wound, Xiu Yan replied dismissively, “Probably scratched it on a tree branch on the way back. It’s nothing. Go warm up by the fire; we’ll need to set out again soon.”
Ji Nuan nodded and obediently returned to the fire.
Elsewhere…
Bo Sen and his group hung upside down from tree branches, battered and bruised, swaying in the cold wind. The combination of pain and freezing temperatures made them utterly miserable.
Poor Na Wei sniffled, the snot frozen into icicles dangling under his nose, tears welling in his eyes.
“Bo Sen, hurry up and think of something! We’re going to freeze to death up here! Ah-choo!”
Bo Sen’s swollen face, bruised from Xiu Yan’s attack, resembled a grunting beast cub. Grimacing, he used his claws to cut at the vines binding him. Hearing Na Wei’s plea, he glanced at the pitiful sight of his frozen companion and wrinkled his nose in disdain. “Just wait. I’m almost done!”
