Leisurely Life in the Beast World - Chapter 124
Mao Da and the other beastmen stepped forward to take the deworming powder, mixing it with water before drinking it.
Time passed slowly under the tense atmosphere, and some beastmen cast doubtful glances at Ji Nuan. However, seeing her sitting calmly behind the stone slab, nonchalantly petting the chubby cub in her arms, their suspicions waned. The medicine may have taken a while to work.
As the crowd waited, Ji Nuan suddenly stood and walked over to the elderly beastman. After observing him for a moment, she spoke. “Everyone, step back from the elder. Soon, he might vomit out the dying parasites, and we wouldn’t want it splashing onto anyone.”
With that, she returned to her seat behind the stone.
Not long after, the elderly beastman started groaning, clutching his stomach and gagging. He began scratching at his throat as though trying to force something out.
“Urgh~” He suddenly doubled over, and a large, writhing mass of white worms spilled onto the ground. The beastmen nearby turned pale green at the sight.
As the worms stopped wriggling and grew still, the camp fell into an eerie silence.
While the elderly beastman continued vomiting, Mao Da and another beastman ran, faces red, toward the nearby forest.
“For beastmen with many parasites, the medicine will make them vomit some out first, like what happened with the elder. After a few more doses, they’ll expel the rest naturally,” Ji Nuan explained, glancing at the stunned beastmen. “That just means squatting in the bushes. For beastmen with fewer parasites, like the two who just left, squatting a few times will do the trick.”
She gave a teasing grin. “If anyone is brave enough to look closer, you can follow them.”
The elderly beastman finally finished vomiting. With the help of his cub, he stood and knelt on the ground to thank Ji Nuan.
Ji Nuan handed him another packet of medicine. “Drink this now. Later, when you squat in the bushes, the rest of the parasites will be expelled.”
The elder’s young cub stepped forward to accept the medicine and carefully helped his father drink it. Then, supporting him, he led him aside to rest.
Meanwhile, a beastman from Watson used a broom of bundled branches to clean up the worms the elder had vomited.
“I believe everyone has seen the effects of the deworming powder. Please go to Chief Ge Xing to hand over your trade items and collect the medicine,” Ji Nuan announced.
With that, she promptly handed all responsibilities to Ge Xing and slipped away like a hands-off manager.
“You’re a clever little female, aren’t you? I suppose you knew all along that She Wu was up to something,” Ya Li said as he stepped out from behind a tree, blocking Ji Nuan’s path.
Ji Nuan shuddered slightly. “And what of it? We didn’t kill him—that’s already quite generous.”
“Heh heh, little female, you’re so clever. You should be my mate. Why do you keep rejecting me? Do you think I’m not handsome enough?” As he spoke, Ya Li even threw her a flirtatious wink.
Ji Nuan’s hair stood on end. This beast was insane.
She kept her guard up, carefully watching Ya Li. Meanwhile, Ya Li teased her while staying alert to the chubby silver wolf cub in her arms.
Because of this tense standoff, neither noticed a little cub hiding behind a tree, drooling as it stared at Ya Li’s attractive face. When Ya Li threw his wink, the cub raised a paw to wipe the glistening drool from its mouth.
