Leisurely Life in the Beast World - Chapter 120
“If the Watson Tribe has truly accepted the Rabbit Tribe, then maybe your Deer Tribe will have a chance to join too,” Mao Da said, reading Lu Jiu’s most profound hopes.
Lu Jiu’s eyes sparkled as he turned to Mao Da. “That would be wonderful. If we had the protection of a strong tribe and a shaman to treat illnesses…”
As he spoke, both beastmen’s eyes reddened with emotion.
For generations, weak beastmen had lived at the bottom of the food chain, constantly losing their people to predatory wild beasts. Their days of living in constant fear had stretched on for too long.
The only hope was for their descendants to be taken in by a powerful tribe, where they wouldn’t have to endure the same precarious existence as their parents.
“You should ask,” Mao Da suggested, encouragingly patting his friend’s shoulder. “If the Watson Tribe needs more weak beastmen, this might be a good opportunity to join them.”
Lu Jiu hesitated for a moment, then his expression firmed. “Alright, I’ll ask tomorrow. Even if the whole tribe can’t join, sending the cubs to the Watson Tribe would be good. That little shaman seems kind, and Ge Xing has always been fair to weak beastmen. The Watson Tribe would be a good place for them.”
Mao Da’s eyes gleamed with envy. Among the weak beastmen, the Cat Tribe was adept at hiding and blending into their surroundings. However, their combat skills were poor, lacking the Rabbit Tribe and Deer Tribe’s talent for identifying plants. This made the Cat Tribe one of the lowest-ranked among the weak beast tribes.
For years, they had survived thanks to the Deer Tribe’s care. Without their help, the small Cat Tribe might have already been wiped out by ferocious beastmen.
If the Deer Tribe joined the Watson Tribe, the Cat Tribe’s future would become even more difficult.
“Ya Li, the chief went to the weak beastmen to trade for females today, but he was outdone by that little female cub from the Watson Tribe. To make matters worse, Ge Xing publicly announced the trade for worm disease medicine. Now, all the tribes are preparing for the upcoming trade.
“And because of what happened with the chief, Ge Xing has said he will never trade the medicine with him. I’m worried this might affect our tribe’s ability to get the medicine,” a beastman said, his tone filled with concern.
A dark glint flickered in Ya Li’s eyes. “Don’t worry. This won’t interfere with our plans. Besides, the other major tribes haven’t moved yet. They’re probably still observing. After all, it’s hard to say whether this medicine is truly effective.”
Because of Ge Xing’s announcement about trading worm disease medicine, many tribes in the camp spent the night in a mix of excitement and doubt, unable to sleep.
“Meow~” A soft, tender, cat-like mewl came from outside the tent, causing the little furball Fu Yi to snap his eyes open and glance toward the sound. Pulling back a strip of the beast’s hide that served as the tent’s curtain, he peeked outside.
A tiny, fluffy kitten was sitting outside the tent. Its round eyes glistened, and the whiskers on its fuzzy little face twitched delicately. It was impossibly adorable.
Fu Yi’s eyes flickered with recognition. It was a young female cub of the Cat Tribe.
Carefully stepping outside, Fu Yi approached the little kitten. “Zhi zhi?”
Who are you? How did you get here?
The little kitten’s excitement shot through the roof as soon as another beast appeared. Its four short legs bounced energetically on the ground. “Meow, meow~ meow!”
