Leisurely Life in the Beast World - Chapter 119
Ji Nuan clapped her hands. “Exactly! Because the crisp sweet fruit is so scattered and rare, our tribe’s females can only trade for it at gatherings with the Grizzly Beastmen.”
She took a sip of porridge, sighing slightly. “You probably think it’s a waste to trade such fine hides for these fruits, right?”
Ge Xing’s face flushed red—he had thought that at the time.
Ji Nuan chuckled slyly. “What you don’t know is that I traded for all those crisp sweet fruits to plant them!”
“Plant them?” Ge Xing looked at her in confusion.
Ji Nuan nodded eagerly. “Every time our tribe’s females go out gathering, they need a lot of beastmen to protect them. But what if we planted all these fruits and other plants around our tribe?
“We ate the crisp sweet fruit yesterday, and it’s delicious and filling. If we plant it in abundance around the tribe, will we still have to worry about prey running low and our people going hungry?”
The more Ge Xing listened, the more excited he became. His eyes gleamed brightly by the end. “You’re right! Hahaha! Ji Nuan, you’re truly the Watson Tribe’s lucky star!”
Ji Nuan smiled. “I just want our tribe to thrive. These weak beastmen we’re bringing back are much more familiar with plant habits and care. If they plant fruits, wild vegetables, and crisp sweet fruits, our beastmen will have more time to hunt.
“When the cold season comes, we’ll have enough prey and an endless supply of crisp sweet fruit and pickled vegetables. Isn’t that wonderful?”
Ge Xing, captivated by the beautiful picture Ji Nuan painted, couldn’t help but laugh silly.
“Alright, I’ll go assign them living spaces right away!” True to his straightforward nature, Ge Xing turned to leave without delay.
Ji Nuan quickly stood up. “Uncle, explain to the tribe that these weak beastmen are now part of our tribe. They mustn’t be treated like servant beasts.”
Ge Xing patted her fluffy little head reassuringly. “Don’t worry. Leave it to your uncle. Now, finish your breakfast before it gets cold!”
Ji Nuan nodded with a grin, watching Ge Xing’s towering figure as he left the tent.
Uncle is so busy—he hasn’t even…
Her thoughts trailed off as she glanced back at the empty bowl left behind. The sight immediately extinguished her concern, which she mentally crumpled, stomped on, and discarded. Beastmen are all bottomless pits. She picked up her still-full bowl of purple fruit porridge and muttered inwardly. I didn’t see him drinking it, and the bowl was empty. It’s mocking my naivety.
Outside the tent, the Rabbit Tribe beastmen cheered and celebrated with joy. Ji Nuan couldn’t help but smile. This feels so right.
By the riverbank, under the light of the moon, two beastmen sat together, their expressions dazed.
“Old Cat, what do you think of today’s events?” one of them asked.
The beastman addressed as Old Cat, a Cat Beastman, sighed deeply. “I don’t know. Why would a ferocious beast tribe accept a weak beast tribe? Ferocious beast tribes have always thought we weak beast tribes are useless for hunting and waste food.”
Lu Jiu stared at the river, his gaze steady. “But the Watson Tribe didn’t seem like they were lying today. If that little female cub can create medicine to treat worm disease, they must truly need the Rabbit Tribe’s help gathering herbs.”
Old Cat glanced thoughtfully at Lu Jiu, a tinge of melancholy in his eyes.
