Leisurely Life in the Beast World - Chapter 117
Facing away from the Watson Tribe’s camp, Ji Nuan didn’t notice Ge Xing’s arrival. However, Lu Te, wearing a smug expression of triumph, caught sight of him immediately.
With a hint of schadenfreude, Lu Te called out, “Chief Ge Xing, is it true that your future shaman has declared you’re going to exchange for all these weak beastmen?”
Ge Xing: …
I’m about to cough up blood on you!
Hearing Ge Xing’s name, Ji Nuan quickly turned around. While the crowd focused on Lu Te and Ge Xing, she sneakily winked at Ge Xing, her small eyes glinting with mischief.
Ge Xing froze momentarily, then twitched the corners of his mouth helplessly. This cunning little cub—what trouble had she come up with now?
But realization soon dawned. Ge Xing’s cub always had clever ideas. This must be another one of her schemes. Heh heh.
With that thought, Ge Xing’s steps became lighter, and his face no longer looked green.
After all, it was his cub. He had to cooperate—cooperate fully!
A calculating grin—the kind he reserved for outsmarting rival beastmen—spread across his face. He quickly strode over to Tu Ben, clasping his hand in an overly “cordial” manner, his hearty laugh booming. “Hahaha, Chief Tu Ben! I didn’t expect to see you again this year. Ji Nuan, this cub of ours, is our tribe’s next shaman.
“Recently, a young female in our tribe fell seriously ill with worm disease. Parasites were crawling out of her ears and nose… oh…”
Ge Xing even raised his rough hand to wipe at his slightly reddened eyes. Peeking from under his lashes, he saw the surrounding beastmen’s heavy and sympathetic expressions. He sighed dramatically. “Thank the Beast God for watching over us! Ji Nuan created a medicinal powder that cured the worm disease and saved that poor young female.”
Ji Nuan, listening to this from the side, practically sparkled with admiration. Ge Xing was incredible! Without a trace, he’d just resolved the issue of spreading the word about the parasite medicine.
Catching Ge Xing’s meaningful glance, Ji Nuan immediately stepped forward, holding the chubby cub in her arms. Her expression was earnest as she explained, “Beastmen in the tribe don’t understand the properties of herbs and often pick the wrong ones.
“The herbs needed to treat worm disease are especially crucial and must be combined from several different types. That’s why I told the chief we needed to exchange for some weak beastmen knowledgeable about plants to help gather herbs.”
Ever the self-adoring beastman, Ge Xing ran his hand through his silky, smooth golden hair. “Let’s not be picky, then. All of you can come back with me. From now on, the beastmen of the Rabbit Tribe will be part of Watson. When we return, we’ll hold a ceremony to welcome you into the tribe.”
However, the hand hidden behind his back was trembling slightly as he silently screamed in his heart. Ji Nuan, cub, don’t set me up for disaster!
For Tu Ben, the events of this day were nothing short of a whirlwind. Just moments ago, he had nearly been killed by a ferocious beastman, his life hanging by a thread. Now, he was being welcomed into a powerful, ferocious beast tribe. It was simply…
He glanced up at the sky in wonder. Could it be that the Beast God himself had descended?
But aside from an unknown chirping bird flying over his head, there was no sign of the legendary Beast God.
While Tu Ben was lost in existential musings, the Rabbit Tribe beastmen behind him could barely contain their excitement. Some even hopped up and down, and a few young cubs were so overcome that they involuntarily transformed into their beast forms.
Towering human-sized rabbits with watery, round eyes and twitching three-petaled mouths—absolutely adorable.
