Leisurely Life in the Beast World - Chapter 114
Near the riverbank, a gathering of beastmen stood out distinctly from the others. This was Ji Nuan’s first time seeing a tribe with so many cubs present.
These beastmen were notably shorter than others she had encountered, slender, with fair complexions and delicate appearances. However, their timid demeanor set them apart; whenever they caught the eyes of other beastmen, they appeared frightened, their watery eyes resembling startled white rabbits.
“Ji Nuan, you’re up early?” Ge Xing’s familiar voice came from behind. Ji Nuan turned to see him and barely stifled a laugh.
Ge Xing, usually meticulous about grooming his golden hair, was sporting a rare case of bedhead today. His usually silky, enviable mane was a chaotic mess, and his bleary-eyed expression made Ji Nuan itch to capture the moment with a camera.
“I went to bed early last night, so I woke up early today,” she replied, gesturing toward the riverbank. “A lot of new tribes have arrived. Uncle, can you tell me which tribe those beastmen belong to?”
Ge Xing, in his massive golden lion form, was busy licking and tidying his beloved fur. He looked toward the riverbank with curiosity at Ji Nuan’s question. After a moment, he stood up with mild surprise. “It seems the Weak Beast Tribe has brought many cubs this time.”
Ji Nuan looked curiously at the pale, slender beastmen. “They’re from the Weak Beast Tribe?”
Ge Xing nodded his large head. “Yes. Looks like they arrived today. Let me see… There’s the Rabbit Tribe, Deer Tribe, Cat Tribe. Some members of the Weak Beast Tribe probably haven’t arrived yet. These groups live closer together, so they likely traveled here together.”
“After breakfast, you can take Xiu Yan and Fu Yi to have a look. If any beastmen need help, you can bring them back to the tribe. They can help out and earn their keep. After all, we have plenty of food this year,” Ge Xing said generously with a wave of his paw.
“Owooo~” A disdainful little voice suddenly piped up behind them, causing Ge Xing’s face to flush red in embarrassment.
Ji Nuan couldn’t help bursting into laughter. The tiny silver wolf cub glared with his big round eyes, clearly unimpressed by Ge Xing’s boasting. After all, Ji Nuan’s exchanges didn’t use Ge Xing’s resources, and she supported those she brought back with her food.
Ge Xing cleared his throat awkwardly, then clutched his stomach dramatically, groaning. “Oh no, I think I ate something bad. I need to visit the bushes. You all carry on!” With that, he fled swiftly, not looking like someone with a stomachache.
Ji Nuan picked up the chubby cub and returned to the tent. She fetched water from a wooden bucket, washed up, and helped the cub clean his teeth and paws. Only then did she light the fire to prepare breakfast.
“Hahaha! We want this female for our Tumang Tribe. I’ll trade her for one beast hide!” A loud and familiar voice from the riverbank caught Ji Nuan’s attention.
What truly caught her ear was the owner of the voice—none other than the lecherous chief of the Tumang Tribe, Lu Te.
