Leisurely Life in the Beast World - Chapter 113
As the busy day ended, Ji Nuan, having successfully obtained crisp sweet fruits, decided not to visit other tribes for more trade. Instead, she stayed in her tent to organize her belongings. After a while, she hugged the chubby little silver wolf and drifted into a deep sleep.
While Ji Nuan was enjoying sweet dreams, other beastmen engaged in secret dealings under the cover of night.
“How have you decided, Chief Sa Ka’er? If we work together, the Tumang Tribe is willing to agree to all your demands,” Ya Li’s voice sounded even more sinister in the darkness.
Sa Ka’er stood beneath a tall tree, flanked by two trusted beastmen. The shadows of the branches hid his expression as his raspy voice came from the darkness. “I’ve already made my terms clear. Once you’ve annexed the Watson Tribe, you must give their territory to the Green Mountain Tribe. If you agree to that, we’ll help you.”
A faint glint flashed in Ya Li’s eyes as his sinister smile deepened. “No problem. I can promise you that. When we came here, Bei Ni, our shaman, had already guessed this would be your demand.”
“Good. After the gathering ends, I’ll visit the Tumang Tribe. Both tribes can swear an oath to the Beast God together then.”
“Agreed.”
“When will we get to the gathering camp? I’m so hungry, Amma~” In the dark forest, a timid beastman tribe was making their way cautiously. A young female’s childish voice rang out, and her mother quickly covered her mouth.
Her mother’s soothing voice whispered in her ear. “Yaoyao, be good. We’re almost there. Once we arrive, Amma will trade for some delicious fruits for you. But scary wild beasts come out at night, so you mustn’t talk loudly!”
The little female named Yaoyao opened her round eyes wide with fear, clamping her hands over her mouth. Tears welled up in her eyes.
So scary! Terrifying beasts that eat others? Yaoyao’s scared! Yaoyao wants to go home…
Nearby, an elder beastman from the rabbit tribe spoke hopefully. “Chief, this time, we must find a strong and wealthy predator tribe for these little ones. We can’t keep them living in fear like this.”
The chief, Tu Ben, sighed heavily. “I hope a predator tribe will be willing to take them. I heard from a predator beastman that their shamans received guidance from the Beast God. This cold season will be harsher than ever. We can’t let our cubs stay with us and face death.”
The rabbit beastmen around them bowed their heads, quietly wiping their tears.
Looking at the silent cubs beside them, the parents’ hearts ached. They didn’t want to part with their children, but keeping them in their weak tribe meant facing inevitable danger. Sending them to a predator tribe might at least offer a chance at survival.
In the forest, many weak tribes with similar hopes were approaching the gathering camp.
At dawn, perhaps heeding the previous day’s lessons, the birds and beasts of the forest exchanged their gossip and stories more quietly, careful not to cause the same raucous commotion as before.
Ji Nuan woke naturally, feeling refreshed. The chubby cub in her arms was sprawled on its back, snoring softly in blissful sleep.
She picked up a hide, dressed, and exited the tent. Compared to the previous day, the basin was even more crowded. Many new tribes had appeared unseen the day before, springing up like mushrooms after the rain.
