Leisurely Life in the Beast World - Chapter 112
“Ji Nuan, what are you cooking? It smells amazing!” Ge Xing followed the enticing aroma to the ceramic pot, his eyes shining with excitement as he looked at the source of the delicious scent, nearly drooling.
Xiu Yan glanced at the growing crowd of beastmen gathering around, his sense of danger spiking. This is bad. They’re all here to mooch food!
Quietly, he retreated into the tent. Moments later, the tent flap was lifted, and a chubby silver wolf cub waddled out, its tiny legs moving steadily toward Ji Nuan. The cub plopped beside her, its plump rear end hitting the ground with a thud. It straightened its short, stubby front legs, raised its round head, and gazed adorably at Ji Nuan with its big, watery eyes.
“Awrooo~” The cub wagged its tail joyfully, looking impossibly cute.
Ji Nuan was immediately enchanted. She reached out with her soft little hand and lovingly patted the cub’s chubby body.
“Awroo~” So comfortable!
The cub’s eyes gleamed with pride as it looked at the surrounding beastmen. “Awrooo!”
This little female is mine! The food she cooks is mine, too!
Ge Xing gave the fat silver wolf a disdainful look. If shamelessness were a contest, this beast would be undefeated.
The other beastmen mirrored his disdain. If there were a comment section, Shameless Beast would undoubtedly dominate.
Ji Nuan lifted the lid off the pot, took a piece of crisp sweet fruit, and carefully bit into it. The soft, sweet flavor spread through her mouth instantly.
Delicious!
“Uncle, why don’t you go get some bowls? Everyone can have a share, and if it’s not enough, I can make more later,” Ji Nuan said to the surrounding beastmen.
At her words, the crowd quickly scattered to fetch bowls.
Meanwhile, the little silver wolf cub pouted unhappily. How could she share my food with others? Not fair!
But the cub’s frustration vanished when Ji Nuan placed a large bowl of fragrant purple fruit porridge before him. Overjoyed, the cub rubbed its head against Ji Nuan’s smooth leg, drooling as it crouched by the bowl.
Cool down faster! I want to eat!
“Ji Nuan, I’m here! Heh, heh, I heard you made something delicious. Can I have some, too?” The first to return with a bowl was the young beastman She Wu. His hide skirt was still stained with blood, likely from hunting earlier.
Ji Nuan smiled. “Of course.”
She took his stone bowl and ladled in half a bowl of purple fruit porridge. “Here you go. I didn’t cook much, so everyone has only a small share to try.”
She Wu eagerly accepted the bowl, his bright smile filled with gratitude. “A little is more than enough! Thanks!”
As he enjoyed the porridge, She Wu suddenly asked, “By the way, Ji Nuan, when will we start trading the powder for treating worm disease?”
Ji Nuan thought for a moment. “We’ll have to see. If we directly tell them it’s for treating worm disease, the beastmen might not believe us. We’ll need to find the right moment.”
She Wu nodded in understanding. Then, glancing around, he leaned closer to Ji Nuan. However, a cold, piercing gaze stopped him in his tracks.
Looking toward the source, he saw the fat silver wolf cub behind the ceramic pot, its eyes icy and menacing.
She Wu’s heart sank. Why is Xiu Yan here?
Recovering from his shock, he cautiously leaned closer to Ji Nuan but stopped at a safe distance. “Ji Nuan, I have a good friend in the Liangshan Tribe. Could you save a portion of the powder for him?”
Ji Nuan nodded with a smile. “Of course! That’s no problem at all.”
She Wu’s face lit up with joy. “Thank you so much! I’ll bring him over when the time comes.”
At that moment, Ge Xing returned with a group of beastmen carrying stone bowls. He raised an eyebrow when he noticed She Wu’s empty bowl and the traces of food around his mouth. “She Wu, you sneaky cub! You came here first to eat!”
She Wu let out an awkward laugh before bolting away. “I’m done, so I’ll get going now. Take your time eating!” As he ran, he turned back to wave at Ji Nuan. “Thanks for the food! It was delicious!”
Once out of sight, She Wu’s bright smile vanished, replaced by a cold, sinister expression.
“Brother, don’t worry. I’ll get the powder for treating worm disease and return it to the tribe.”
Xiu Yan watched She Wu leave, a hint of suspicion forming in his heart.
But before he could dwell on it, his attention was drawn to something that nearly made him lose his composure.
Squatting beside Ji Nuan, with a large bowl of purple fruit porridge in front of it, was none other than Fu Yi in his beast form—a fluffy white bundle.
Damn, Fu Yi…
You stupid beast! You’re here to steal food from me again?! Do you want to find out why the flowers are so red?!
Fu Yi, sensing the menacing glare, flinched. His fluffy fur puffed up in fear, and he scooted behind Ji Nuan, hiding behind her soft, pale legs.
Ji Nuan patted Fu Yi’s little body, laughing softly as she looked at the scowling silver wolf cub. Bending down, she whispered soothingly into his ear, “Don’t be mad. Fu Yi helped me a lot on the way here. I’ve saved a whole big bowl of porridge for you. It’s all yours!”
The cub’s cloudy mood instantly brightened. His eyes sparkled. “Awroo?”
Really?
Ji Nuan nodded sincerely, picked him up, and opened the pot lid to show him. “See? It’s still here, isn’t it?”
Satisfied, the cub turned to Fu Yi with a haughty glare. “Awroo~”
This little female loves me the most!
(Fu Yi: Did I ever say I was competing with you for Ji Nuan? I just wanted to eat peacefully, but why is it so hard?!)
