Jiu Xian’er returned home to her small villa.

Alone in the villa, Jiu Xian’er smiled happily as she thought about today’s events, feeling hopeful that everything would turn out well.

She opened her wrist communicator and sent a message:

“Dad, when are you coming home? Goodnight, Dad.”

Indeed, Jiu Xian’er’s father was a gifted individual, serving on the front lines.

Seeing no response, Jiu Xian’er pouted slightly,

“Goodnight, Dad.”

In a drowsy state, Jiu Xian’er felt as if she could see her father, that tall and formidable man.

On the same day, Chen Beixuan sat cross-legged on his bed, consumed a Spirit Medicine petal, and began circulating his Cultivation Technique.

Sensing Qi, guiding its flow – repeatedly failing yet persisting each time, finally at 3 AM, he succeeded.

Chen Beixuan looked at the sleeping Qing Qing with a hint of joy, knowing it had worked.

Feeling the subtle flow of Qi and Blood within him, akin to a thin thread, he clenched his fist and realized he now possessed at least a thousand kilograms of strength.

With the military’s equipment enhancement, he could potentially reach ten thousand pounds of strength. This would make him formidable on the battlefield, barring encounters with exceptionally powerful Xenobeasts.

Carefully stowing away the Cultivation Technique close to his body, Chen Beixuan even gave it a reassuring touch before settling down fully clothed for sleep, treating it with utmost importance.

At the Li family’s villa district, Li Junlin returned home to find his entire family waiting for him.

“Mom, Dad, Big Sister, and Big Brother, you’re all back.” Li Junlin felt weary, having not yet taken his Spirit Medicine.

Once he consumed it, he’d regain his vigor by tomorrow, but currently, exhaustion overwhelmed him.

“Speak up! Regarding your enlistment, both your elder sister and brother have already served in the military. As the youngest in our family, you cannot join,” said the middle-aged man, who had lost one eye and wore an eyepatch.

Li Junlin didn’t rush to argue; instead, he sat on the sofa, pondered for a moment, and then earnestly replied, “Dad, I understand your concerns. With my sister and brother having served, there might be no need for me to enlist. However, I have compelling reasons to do so. Next month, I’ll reach the age for arranged marriage, and I intend to swiftly ensure we have heirs.”

“Bang!”

The one-eyed middle-aged man slammed his hand on the coffee table, roaring angrily, “You ungrateful son! Your brother and sister are both gifted, securing hard-earned exemptions for you not to go. Why won’t you listen? What’s so appealing about joining the military? Look at my eye, my prosthetic limb, and your mother with her missing arm! You’re the only healthy one in our family. Both your siblings bear injuries; do you have such a death wish?”

Li Jie’s chest heaved visibly, clearly incensed.

Seeing his father’s furious outburst and the pleading looks from his siblings, Li Junlin knew it was time to make a decision.

Perhaps the Martial Dao alone couldn’t save Great Xia, but its emergence now offered Great Xia a chance, a chance for survival.

If no one steps up, who will? After the previous generation fought their battles, should this generation simply give up and await doom? No, future generations deserve better than living under these conditions.

Li Junlin clenched his fists, gazing at his family. Finally, he stood up, looking first at Li Jie, then at his mother and older siblings.

“I understand you all care for me deeply, but if we don’t fight now, our next generation will have to, and so will the generations after them.”

“There are only nine bases left in the Nine Provinces. How long can we hold out? Li Lin Yue, Li Lin Yang, tell me, should we merely cling to survival or fight back? What is your choice?

I may be an ordinary person, but aren’t those soldiers also just ordinary individuals? If they can do it, why can’t I? Every child matters; if their children can go to war, so can mine.” Li Junlin’s eyes were bloodshot, resembling a ferocious beast ready to pounce, his body trembling uncontrollably from anger and frustration at his own helplessness.

“My great-grandfather died in battle, my grandfather died in battle, my grandmother died in battle, and both my second and third uncles perished in combat. Only a few of us from three generations of our Li family remain alive.

Father, tell me, don’t you hate them? Don’t you despise those xenobesasts and xenogenics? I want to kill them all, strike fear into every last one of them. I aim to raze their cities and exterminate their kind, ensuring their demise forever.” Li Junlin roared with heart-wrenching intensity, his eyes blazing with a palpable murderous intent.

His impassioned words silenced the entire family. A large hand gently rested on Li Junlin’s shoulder. “I know you harbor hatred, and I understand your desire to confront our enemies. But right now, what we must prioritize is preserving the spark of humanity, do you understand, son?”

Li Jie’s heart also felt heavy. The xenogenics were overwhelming, seemingly endless. In just a millennium, Great Xia’s population had drastically reduced from 14 billion to 1.4 billion, continually eroded by these threats – a grim reality visible to all.

But what could they do? Great Xia had already given its utmost effort, striving relentlessly against this tide. Even the imperial family suffered disproportionately high casualties.

Now, more than ever, the people of Great Xia stood united, but would it be enough? Yes, it could only slow down the erosion, not halt it entirely.

Li Junlin slumped down, “I know you won’t let me leave easily. Once my elder siblings return, their primary task will likely involve recruitment for the war effort. Give me three months, just three months. If I can defeat them within that time, none of you should stop me from going to the battlefield.”

Li Lin Yue, Li Lin Yang, Li Jie, and Chen Mingming exchanged glances.

“Fine, we agree,” Li Jie said seriously. “If after three months you can defeat Lin Yue and Lin Yang, we won’t stand in your way.”

Internally, Li Jie was gleeful, thinking, Naive kid, trying to beat your sister and brother? As an ordinary person, how is that even possible? If you manage it, I’ll eat shit standing on my head.

While Li Jie reveled in his thoughts, Li Junlin retreated to his room, consumed a petal of Spirit Medicine, and began cultivating with those familiar nine movements.

Early the next morning, Li Junlin opened his eyes with delight; he could sense Qi, indicating that he had finally entered the Beginner stage.

He stepped out of his room, skipping breakfast, and rushed towards their usual training square. Upon seeing Chen Beixuan practicing breathing exercises, he halted, waiting for Chen Beixuan to finish.

Sensing Li Junlin’s presence, Chen Beixuan completed his routine, retrieved the hidden Five Phases Breathing Technique scroll, and said, “I’ve memorized it thoroughly. You should now be able to feel the Qi sensation. To progress further, continuous practice is essential.”

Li Junlin nodded, moved aside, and began studying the scroll, carefully absorbing each word.

As Li Junlin started cultivating the Five Phases Breathing Technique, Wu Xianyao arrived shortly after.

Chen Beixuan checked the time, “As punctual as ever, arriving exactly at 8:00 AM, not a minute more or less.”

Wu Xianyao noticed Li Junlin sitting cross-legged, sensing his Qi, indicating his advancement.

Realizing it was time, he instructed, “Beixuan, fetch four sturdy poles. While I supervise Junlin, today I’ll teach you a Martial Skill. Once Junlin reaches the Beginner stage, we can train together.”

Chen Beixuan nodded, and half an hour later, he returned with four solid steel rods, each two meters long.

Each rod weighed at least over a hundred pounds, which would have been challenging before, but now it felt like a minor task for Chen Beixuan.
