Immortal Martial Academy - Chapter 53
Wu Xianyao gazed at the encampment ahead, contemplating briefly before deciding against visiting Chen Beixuan and his group. Originally, they were unaware of his presence, especially as he had arrived under the guise of a Dao Protector.
After enjoying several peaceful days, Wu Xianyao returned to Room 101 at the Peace Hotel. Immediately upon arrival, he received a communication from Xia Yi. Accepting the call, a holographic projection opened, revealing Xia Yi’s image.
“Headmaster, yesterday twelve individuals attempted to join the academy, but ten were rejected by the Path of Self-Reflection. Only two remained eligible. Additionally, others applied during this period, but none met the requirements.”
Xia Yi paused before continuing, “Recently, many unfamiliar faces have been spotted around the academy. After observing them, we’ve determined they are neither from the Alien Race nor the military.”
Wu Xianyao furrowed his brow, suspecting these newcomers might be connected to Lan Haoyue. “Don’t worry about that. When does the competition between Zhang Shi and Xia Jiufeng begin?”
“Two days left. Zhang Shi has already mastered the Vanquishing Evil Style, which shouldn’t be a concern. Xia Jiufeng and Mao Mao have reached the ‘Qi and Blood like a river’ realm, making them formidable against 1st or 2nd Rank opponents. As for Xia You, he is now in the Intermediate Stage of the Blood Ignition Realm, being the strongest member of the team.”
Xia You, the young man Wu Xianyao had personally guided, showed great promise. “Alright, I understand. Ensure everyone stays safe during the competition.” Within the base, Wu Xianyao felt relatively reassured; as long as no 5th Rank powerhouses entered, there should be minimal risks.
“Headmaster, you have about half a month left before the expected beast tide at the end of this month. Stay vigilant.”
“Good! We’ll keep watch. Please look after the academy while we’re away.” With that, Wu Xianyao ended the communication, having completed his analysis of the martial skills from earlier.
He reviewed his attributes:
[Martial Skill: Rapid-fire]
[Difficulty: ★★★]
[Current Mastery: Beginner, Mastery, Completion, Supreme.]
[Notes: The faster the arrows, the greater their power; rapid-fire unleashes a torrential rain of arrows upon the heavens.]
[Cultivation Technique: Glazed Flame Secret Art]
[Difficulty: ★★★★★]
[Current Mastery: Beginner, Mastery, Completion, Supreme.]
[Remark: Upon mastering this technique, one can develop the Glazed Flame Physique.]
After reviewing these martial skills and cultivation techniques, Wu Xianyao glanced at his progress with Prison Suppressing Divine Elephant Force—still only 0.5%. His lips twitched, realizing it would likely take years to advance further, perhaps no less than a decade.
This time, while deducing improvements for the array formation and techniques to suppress his aura, Wu Xianyao incorporated some of his own ideas, which might significantly extend the process.
“Boom!!”
A massive explosion echoed nearby. Wu Xianyao rushed to the window, observing the direction of the front lines where two incredibly powerful presences were clashing. He swiftly took flight, heading towards the distant battle scene.
One presence belonged to Lan Haoyue, but was it from a snake race powerhouse or possibly the Rat Clan? The intense combat between these two 7th Rank beings made it impossible for anyone else to intervene.
Wu Xianyao’s wristwatch vibrated, signaling an urgent battle alert. The three races had suddenly attacked the Black Cliff Defense Line, catching everyone off guard. He couldn’t help but wonder if it was connected to the Snake Maiden; could this be the work of a formidable snake race member?
An hour earlier, at the Flame Rat Clan’s Space Altar, an old man emerged. With a hunched back, he exuded an overwhelming aura that erupted above the Flame Rat Clan territory.
“Though my time is limited, I still possess the power to annihilate your entire Flame Rat Clan, and even the Gold-Devouring Rat Clan wouldn’t dare object.” The old man’s snake-like eyes brimmed with killing intent as he glared at the surrounding Flame Rat elites, clearly indicating his intention to hold them accountable.
Under this overwhelming pressure, Yan Liu, Yan Qi, and Yan Ba trembled uncontrollably, their bones audibly cracking. “Sir,” they pleaded, “we did send our strongest warriors to protect Lord Qing Liu. However, the Human Race deployed numerous powerful beings, resulting in all our sent forces being slain. Our stronghold also came under attack by humans, leaving us unable to provide further assistance.”
“Unable to assist? Let me see just how ‘unable’ you were.” The old man intensified his aura, instantly reducing Yan Liu to a cloud of blood mist.
“Sir, Sir, we truly did our utmost,” Yan Qi hastily knelt, continuing, “Lord Qing Liu likely isn’t dead; he must have been captured by the Human Race. If we mobilize our armies and exert pressure on them, they might be compelled to release Lord Qing Liu.”
Yan Qi displayed some quick thinking, recognizing that now was not the time for excuses but rather for proposing a solution.
“Very well, notify the other two clans to attack the Black Cliff Defense Line,” the old man showed no concern for the lives of these Lower Races.
What could Yan Qi do? He had no choice but to comply. For Upper Races, eliminating a Lower Race merely required offering some resources. These resources were not given to the Lower Race itself, but rather to their affiliated Upper Race as compensation.
Such transactions between major races dictated that despite some Alien Races being powerful, they held no resistance against the bloodline pressure exerted by Upper Races.
Soon, the combined forces of the three clans prepared to assault the Black Cliff Defense Line. Initially, the Flame Rat Clan planned to let the beast tide weaken the defenses before engaging themselves, but now it seemed they would have to lead the charge directly.
The Blood Wolf Clan, with its 7th Rank powerhouse, aimed only to prevent the defense line from expanding further. Additionally, out of respect for the Heaven Raising Python Clan, the Blood Wolf Clan agreed to join forces alongside the Berserk Lion Clan.
Outside the Black Cliff Defense Line, the old man appeared and unleashed a palm strike, causing the Black Cliff Fortress to tremble violently.
Lan Haoyue emerged along the Black Cliff Defense Line, showing no surprise at the sight of the old man. In fact, even before Wu Xianyao brought back Qing Liu, Lan Haoyue anticipated this confrontation.
“The leader of the Heaven Raising Python Clan.” Lan Haoyue raised an eyebrow, bracing for impending trouble.
“Chuckles! Great General Lan, hand over Qing Liu to this old one, and you’ll spare many lives,” the leader of the Heaven Raising Pythons bluntly demanded.
Lan Haoyue’s eyes narrowed. “Old Fogy, addressing you as ‘leader’ is already showing respect. As a decrepit serpent, how much strength do you truly have left?”
“Spare the chatter. Once I dispatch you, Qing Liu’s whereabouts will naturally be revealed,” the elder replied impatiently.
Without further ado, the old man unleashed his attack, with giant palms descending like pillars reaching towards the heavens.
“Old Fogy, your time has passed; yet you still dare approach the Human Race’s frontline. Seems like you’re eager for death.”
A crescent moon ascended, slicing through the massive palm effortlessly. Lan Haoyue extended his hand, and the crescent moon joyfully orbited around him, emitting resonant vibrations.
Unfazed, the old man transformed into a colossal ten-thousand-meter python, charging directly at Lan Haoyue. Lan Haoyue sent out an urgent battle alert and immediately engaged the gargantuan snake in aerial combat.
Within less than five minutes, the military forces completed their preparations and charged towards the incoming Alien Race beyond the defense line. Both the Military Squad and Academy Squad entered the battlefield, including Chen Beixuan and Li Junlin.
The sudden onslaught caught the Human Race off guard, but under the military’s swift command, they quickly rallied. Weapons atop the Fortress roared to life like ancient behemoths awakening. Protomagnetic Crystal Arrows targeted 5th and 6th Rank combatants, while squads engaged fiercely with the Aliens below.
Deafening cries of battle filled the ground, echoing continuously in the sky. Laser weapons, electromagnetic arms, and defensive shields were fully activated. Although the Alien Race’s forged weapons seemed antiquated, their power was formidable. Similar to magical items, the Aliens controlled these weapons using heaven and earth spiritual energy to bombard the Fortress’s protective shield.
Wu Xianyao closely observed the Blood Squad members, but upon seeing the Alien Race’s weapon usage, he began to grasp the gap between Great Xia’s technology and that of the Aliens.
