Immortal Martial Academy - Chapter 38
The coordinated attacks of multiple squads were executed nearly instantaneously; with more practice, they could have achieved it even faster.
As soon as the Iron Blood Overlord Pangolin reacted, it let out a piercing roar.
Its blood-red eyes radiated ruthless killing intent, and with a swift charge, it sent the rock behemoth flying.
Muscles bulging, Chen Beixuan thrust his six silver spears forward.
Simultaneously, Li Junlin and Chen Beixuan attacked from opposite sides, their sabers slicing through the air to strike the Iron Blood Overlord Pangolin’s head, abruptly silencing its roar.
In quick succession, claws swiped from both left and right, sending Li Junlin and Chen Beixuan flying.
The stone giant charged again, slamming its fist onto the pangolin’s head, driving it forcefully into the ground.
Jiu Xian’er and Lan Yuecai picked up their long spears, one on each side, executing powerful Tyrant Spear strikes that opened two large gashes across the pangolin’s belly.
Wind blades followed suit, while withered tree vines pierced the wounds, draining its blood.
Several dark shadows emerged once more, wielding eerie black energy scythes that sliced deeper into the wounds. The black energy clung to the injuries, preventing them from healing.
Linyue and Linyang, aided by their armored enhancements, grabbed hold of the pangolin’s tail and forcefully swung it, slamming the creature onto its back behind them.
The rock behemoth swiftly mounted the immobilized pangolin, unleashing a barrage of punches on its belly from both sides.
The pangolin attempted to curl up defensively, but vines once again entangled its limbs, preventing any movement.
The Night Squad sprang into action, silently appearing and severing the pangolin’s limbs with swift strikes.
With its limbs cut off, the pangolin let out agonizing shrieks.
Meanwhile, Junlin and Chen Beixuan returned, charging forward and delivering twin Tyrant Blades, one after another, at the pangolin’s neck.
Blood flowed profusely, yet they couldn’t decapitate it.
“Damn, that’s some thick hide! Can the Blood Squad widen the wound on its neck? I’m going for a decisive blow,” said the captain of the Night Squad.
“No problem!” Li Junlin and Chen Beixuan exchanged glances.
“Instantaneous – Brilliant Slash.”
“Instantaneous – Sunset Twilight.”
A white and golden streak appeared simultaneously, slicing halfway through the pangolin’s neck, but still, it persisted, refusing to die.
A dark shadow emerged, holding a basketball-sized orb of dark energy, which was swiftly thrust into the wound on the pangolin’s neck.
“Let’s move out!” The shadowy figure vanished immediately.
“Retreat,” Chen Beixuan shouted over the unified combat channel.
The Divine Wind, Thorns Blossom, Rock Squads, and similarly, members of the Blood Squad, swiftly withdrew upon hearing the command.
At least 500 meters away, the Iron Blood Overlord Pangolin continued to roar incessantly, accompanied by crackling sounds.
“F**k, my Dark Thunderstorm should have torn it apart from within; how is it still holding on?” the Night Squad captain grumbled in the unified combat channel.
After about a minute, the pangolin’s agonized screams ceased.
Several squads cautiously approached, finding the pangolin barely clinging to life.
“Rock Squad, control the rock behemoth to finish it off. Team members, stay back to avoid any last-ditch attacks.” Chen Beixuan warned.
One member of the Divine Wind Squad initially intended to get closer but was promptly stopped by Ami after hearing Chen Beixuan’s voice.
As expected, as soon as the rock behemoth neared, the pangolin bit down viciously on its arm, tearing it off instantly.
Undeterred, the Rock Squad member controlled the rock behemoth to regrow another arm and resumed hammering relentlessly.
*BOOM, BOOM, BOOM!!!*
Li Junlin, standing close to Lan Yuecai, faintly heard her counting: “Eighty! Eighty!”
Li Junlin’s lips twitched at this display; clearly, the girl had unconventional thinking.
It took disabling both rock behemoths with relentless hammer blows to finally kill the Overlord-level pangolin.
As soon as it lay dead, several bald members of the Rock Squad collapsed onto the ground. “I, Yan Luo, hereby declare this Overlord-level pangolin as the most resilient Xenobeast,” he exclaimed.
Captain Dark Rain from the Night Squad stepped forward, “If not for Captain Blood’s warning, we might have suffered casualties.” As he spoke, his gaze shifted towards the Divine Wind Squad member who had nearly rushed ahead.
Ami offered an apologetic smile, “Our new frontline recruit didn’t fully grasp the rules yet. My apologies.”
The embarrassed squad member hid behind Ami, saying guiltily, “Sorry, Captain, I caused you trouble.”
Ami reassured him with a smile, “It’s alright. It was your first time on the battlefield. Just remember, next time during unified combat, always follow commands closely.”
The squad member nodded, “Understood, Captain.”
A few girls cautiously emerged, nudging each other forward.
“You’re the captain, you go first.”
“You’re older than me, so you should lead.”
“You’re the strongest, you go first.”
“You have the best knowledge, you lead the way.”
In the darkness, members of Dark Night, Divine Wind, Rock, and Blood Squads watched as six identical-looking girls hesitantly emerged, each pushing the others forward.
Finally, the slightly older girl stepped up, “Hello, I am the Vice-Captain of Thornflower Battle Team. How should we proceed, Commander?”
She directed her question at Chen Beixuan.
The members of Dark Night and Rock Squads exchanged glances, astonished. Was this really the same Thornflower Squad that displayed unparalleled coordination just moments ago? It seemed almost surreal.
Even the Divine Wind Squad was intrigued; their team consisted entirely of sextuplets.
“Wow! Sextuplets, your mom must be quite fertile,” Jiu Xian’er blurted out without filter.
Before she could say more, Lan Yuecai swiftly covered Jiu Xian’er’s mouth.
“My apologies, my sister sometimes lacks tact.” Embarrassed, Lan Yuecai pulled Jiu Xian’er away towards the back of the group.
The girl who spoke to Chen Beixuan looked sympathetically at Jiu Xian’er being dragged off and said compassionately, “Poor thing!”
Instantly, five identical voices echoed in unison:
“Poor thing!” x 5
Everyone from the other squads stared in amazement at the six sisters, astounded by their perfect synchronization.
“Hey, Guangdong Cuisine, who did you call mentally ill, huh?!”
“I meant you – all skin and bones, flat chested, not even as sweet as a papaya.”
“What did you say? Looking for trouble? Want to fight, huh?”
“Bring it on, who’s afraid of whom? I’ll turn you into a pumpkin.”
In no time, Lan Yuecai and Jiu Xian’er were entangled in a fierce brawl, their armored suits clashing loudly.
“Dead Cantonese, hitting my chest? Take this!”
“Greedy eater, daring to sneak attack…”
The others glanced at Chen Beixuan, feeling utterly embarrassed – their reputation was taking a hit.
“Cough! Let’s discuss how to allocate resources first,” Chen Beixuan had no choice but to ignore the fighting duo and divert attention elsewhere.
The remaining five members of Thornflower Squad watched, cheering on Lan Yuecai and Jiu Xian’er in unison:
“Wow! Amazing! Wow! So impressive!”
If not for the presence of the Divine Sword Squad outside, Chen Beixuan would have immediately stopped them. However, considering the stress they’d been under recently, he decided to let it slide; such antics might help alleviate their tension.
“Yuecai, Xian’er, stop fighting now. Keep watch, as the Divine Sword Squad will be arriving soon.”
“Roger that!” both replied simultaneously, standing up. Lan Yuecai playfully punched Jiu Xian’er in the chest, while Jiu Xian’er kicked Yuecai gently on the backside. With their armor protecting them, these actions resulted only in loud thuds without causing any real harm.
