Immortal Martial Academy - Chapter 36
Wu Xianyao inspected the delivered weapons, noticing many advanced technological items.
Among them was an exceptionally large space ring; previously, Wu Xianyao’s space ring had only the capacity of a basketball court. Now, the new one provided by Xiao Lin was at least as spacious as two football fields combined.
The shipment included 100,000 2nd Rank marble bombs, 10,000 3rd Rank marble bombs, 100,000 3rd Rank little arrows, and 10,000 4th Rank little arrows.
Additionally, there was a small-scale battleship, 10,000 healing medicinal pills, and most impressive of all, a basketball-sized bomb.
Inside the delivery, Wu Xianyao found a letter detailing that this batch cost thirty million credits. The Basketball Bomb used materials sourced directly from the black market by Xiao Lin himself, who mentioned it as a gift to Wu Xianyao.
This Alchemy Bomb possessed immense power, capable of causing destruction within a radius of thirty kilometers. No 7th Rank powerhouse could escape its blast without absolute certainty, and those caught near the center were guaranteed death.
Wu Xianyao frowned slightly, wondering what Xiao Lin might have sacrificed to create such a powerful bomb, suspecting it must have been significant.
Meanwhile, at the academy cafeteria, Xiao Lin was indulging in a hearty feast. Pan Xiaopang watched with heartache, while Bruce and Kelly eagerly served him more dishes.
“The Alchemist’s Heart is the core of your being as an alchemist. What will you do without it? You won’t be able to practice Alchemy anymore,” Pan Xiao Pang observed, looking at the frail Xiao Lin.
Currently, Xiao Lin was so thin, reduced to skin and bones, but with each bite he took, his body visibly began recovering.
“It’s alright. I don’t need Alchemy now. With the Qi and Blood Forging Manual provided by our boss, the Alchemist’s Heart serves no purpose. In fact, the forging techniques have given me significant insights.” Xiao Lin gently touched the Bioreactor where his heart should be, feeling reassured that he could contribute again despite its warmth.
Pan Xiao Pang didn’t fully understand these concepts, but seeing Xiao Lin regain color in his face brought him considerable relief.
“Next time, don’t push yourself like this. If I hadn’t brought you food today, you might have starved to death in the Refiner Pavilion.”
In truth, Pan Xiao Pang was still shaken; if not for delivering lunch, it was uncertain whether Xiao Lin would have even made it to the cafeteria. At that point, Xiao Lin had looked like a desiccated corpse, barely held up by Bruce.
“Don’t worry, I replaced my Alchemist’s Heart with a Bioreactor. Now, as long as I eat, I’ll have infinite life – though I won’t grow taller anymore, so this is how I’ll stay from now on.”
Xiao Lin seemed somewhat melancholic at this thought, but remembering that his boss held an ace up his sleeve, he quickly dismissed it.
“Alright, next time you do something like this, make sure to let me know. If Boss finds out I didn’t take care of you properly, he’ll probably beat me to death.” For some reason, Pan Xiaopang genuinely feared Wu Xianyao.
After finishing his meal, Xiao Lin walked out of the cafeteria only to encounter Xia Yi head-on.
She scrutinized Xiao Lin closely, then furrowed her brow, “What have you done? Why can’t I feel your heartbeat?”
Concern filled Xia Yi’s mind; to everyone, Xiao Lin was just a young child. Not seeing him at the Refiner Pavilion earlier, she had come straight to the cafeteria looking for him.
Xiao Lin shrank back slightly, feeling apprehensive around this Assistant Headmaster who now held authority over the academy.
“That’s not right! There’s something off about you. Come with me to my office!” Xia Yi led the way, while Xiao Lin followed despondently, realizing he might no longer be able to hide this matter.
Pan Xiaopang, being naive and easily swayed, hadn’t suspected anything, but Xia Yi was far more astute – cunningly sharp-witted.
In her office, Xia Yi pulled up Xiao Lin’s submitted report, noticing a 5th Rank energy core listed. She looked from the report to Xiao Lin and asked, “How much of your body has been mechanized?”
Feeling awkward, Xiao Lin acknowledged the woman’s sharpness; just by examining the materials, she knew what he was attempting. Seeing there was no way to hide it, he admitted, “Ten percent Biomechanized, currently only my heart.”
“What?! What did you say?” Xia Yi roared like an enraged lion.
Xiao Lin shuddered and stammered, “Biomechanized at ten percent, with my heart mechanized.”
“Do you realize what you’re doing? Biomechanization is a dead-end path. Although it grants immense power, one spiritual attack could spell your demise, do you understand? How am I supposed to explain this to the Headmaster?”
Xia Yi stood up, pulled aside Xiao Lin’s clothing, and examined his chest area. Though the wound had healed, she could still sense the hum of the Bioreactor beneath.
“Sister Xia Yi, don’t worry. I know what I’m doing. After reading the Forging Manual, when the library updated, I studied the Technology Weapon Grimoire. By combining certain aspects from both, I can forge my own Path of Technology.” Realizing that without an explanation, he might face her wrath, Xiao Lin quickly clarified.
Facing Xia Yi’s fury, Xiao Lin hastily began explaining.
Xia Yi initially was enraged, then shifted to annoyance, followed by surprise and finally calmness.
After Xiao Lin finished his explanation, Xia Yi’s lips twitched as he looked at him, thinking, “This guy is fucking insane.” The Eldest Imperial Uncle was right; scholars truly are a bunch of madmen. With sufficient resources, there’s no telling how far their madness can go.
Xiao Lin’s idea was straightforward: first biotechnology, then mechanical immortality. With the vast array of materials available in this world, if utilized correctly, humans could achieve immortality.
According to Xiao Lin, given enough resources and combining the academy’s Technology Weapon Grimoire with the Forging Manual, he alone could become an unstoppable force.
Such a concept had never crossed Xia Yi’s mind before, but now it seemed plausible for Xiao Lin to accomplish.
Relieved, Xia Yi looked sternly at Xiao Lin and said, “I cannot make decisions on this matter. Wait until the Headmaster returns and discuss it directly with him. Until then, all your modification materials will be confiscated. You’re only allowed to forge weapons. If the Headmaster agrees with your proposal, I’ll return them to you.”
Xiao Lin realized he couldn’t persuade Xia Yi at this moment and would have to wait until the Headmaster returned to discuss further. Moreover, such a project wasn’t feasible within one or two years; it would require at least a century.
After Xiao Lin left, Xia Yi felt it was necessary to inform Wu Xianyao about this idea. He composed an email and promptly sent it out.
On the distant front lines, Wu Xianyao read Xia Yi’s message with surprise. It detailed Xiao Lin’s concept of a mechanical army, envisioning a massive mechanized force.
This reminded Wu Xianyao of the Insect Race from his previous life’s science fiction novels – specifically, the Insect Queen. If such a presence were to emerge in this world, it would be nothing short of catastrophic.
However, no signs of the Insect Race had been detected yet, at least not in Great Xia.
Nevertheless, some races exhibited early resemblances to the Insect Race, such as bee colonies, ant swarms, and others. But their potential did not match the terrifying capabilities of the true Insect Race.
Wu Xianyao responded simply, “Unconditional support.”
While Xia Yi didn’t fully grasp the significance of Xiao Lin’s proposal, Wu Xianyao understood its implications. If successful, unifying the planet would become a non-issue.
Discussing interstellar expansion was still premature; first, they needed to eliminate the Alien Races.
A marble bomb appeared in Wu Xianyao’s hand, which he swiftly launched towards a Flame Rat stronghold under construction ahead.
Dozens of massive mushroom clouds erupted, and the construction site along with its emerging stronghold vanished without a trace.
