Immortal Martial Academy - Chapter 33
Wu Xianyao hovered high above, observing the group being pursued below.
He remained patient, not rushing to intervene. Lan Yuecai proved unexpectedly resourceful, with Xiao Lin providing various weapons that, despite slowing down the Berserk Lion somewhat, kept it engaged.
Linyang also performed admirably, staying composed under pursuit and strategically responding. First, they used bombs, followed by poison, then crossbow arrows – ensuring their escape wasn’t compromised.
The Flame Rat chasing Jiu’er was now distracted by Chen Beixuan.
However, Chen Beixuan seemed to have his own plan in mind.
Indeed, Chen Beixuan had devised a strategy.
“Junlin, is this tactic too risky? We need some assurance.”
Li Junlin, not currently targeted, had already hidden himself out of sight.
“Mao Mao provided me with some specialized poisons; dealing with a single 4th Rank shouldn’t be an issue. The key is preventing support from the other two 4th Ranks. With that, we stand a good chance of taking him down.” Li Junlin lay concealed in the grass, his eyes filled with determination as he spoke.
“I’ll draw him away while you head to White Mist Lake. The perpetual blood mist there will help conceal our poison mixed within it. I just need to stall this guy long enough for the toxin to take effect.”
White Mist Lake is located ten kilometers outside the Fortress, its blood mist also a consequence of the ongoing war.
“Agreed.” Li Junlin swiftly took action, sprinting towards White Mist Lake at full speed, which was not far from his position.
Upon reaching White Mist Lake, Li Junlin produced a red bottle, releasing crimson smoke that blended with the surrounding blood mist. He promptly consumed an antidote and communicated through the device, “Beixuan, it’s ready now.”
Li Junlin then dove into the lake, concealing himself.
“Thirty seconds!” Chen Beixuan’s voice echoed over the communication channel.
After thirty seconds, Chen Beixuan charged into the blood mist, followed closely by the Flame Rat Captain.
Immediately upon entering, their visibility became severely hindered.
A silver spear suddenly emerged, aiming straight for the Flame Rat Captain’s heart.
The Flame Rat merely raised his arm, grasping the spear effortlessly. As he attempted to counterattack, he realized Chen Beixuan had vanished.
Several arrows emerged from within the blood mist, which the Flame Rat Captain swiftly deflected with his spear, frowning slightly, “Insect tricks.”
His spear thrust towards the direction of the incoming arrows but missed again.
With impatience in his blood-red eyes, the Flame Rat Captain began gathering Heaven and Earth Energy to eliminate the pesky ants in one swift move.
However, midway through accumulating the energy, he coughed up a mouthful of blood, causing the gathered spiritual energy to dissipate instantly.
Seizing the opportunity, Li Junlin burst out from the pond and pierced the Flame Rat Captain’s heart with his spear.
The Flame Rat Captain died incredulous, never expecting that as a proud 4th Rank powerhouse, he would be ambushed at White Mist Lake.
“Beixuan, where are you?” Li Junlin immediately asked over the channel.
“F**k, what kind of poison is this? Hurry up and bring the antidote, I can’t hold on much longer.” A set of coordinates appeared on the channel.
Li Junlin rushed to the location, administered the antidote to Chen Beixuan, then supported him out of White Mist Lake. As they passed the Flame Rat Captain’s corpse, Li Junlin promptly stored it into his space ring.
Alien race corpses were highly valuable, especially those of a 4th Rank powerhouse.
And the corpse of a 4th Rank powerhouse was even more valuable.
On another front, Berserk Lion and Blood Wolf watched as their targets retreated over three kilometers into the Fortress, forcing them to halt their pursuit.
“We can’t chase further; we’ll surely die if we enter,” Berserk Lion stated at the edge of the Fortress perimeter.
Entering beyond five kilometers already risked discovery, let alone reaching just three kilometers inside.
Berserk Lion and Blood Wolf prepared to retreat when they suddenly noticed a man clad in a black trench coat behind them, wielding a golden long spear.
“My students aren’t so easily killed. Since you’re here, both of you shall stay!” Wu Xianyao transformed into a streak of light, charging forward with his World Illuminating Spear, adorned by an image of a golden Azure Dragon.
Berserk Lion scoffed, “A mere insect dares to challenge a 4th Rank powerhouse.”
Indeed, Berserk Lion perceived the approaching figure as merely a 1st or 2nd Rank gifted individual. In Great Xia, the range of talents among the gifted was vast, and those capable of flight were not uncommon.
“Azure Dragon Roar!” A dragon’s cry resonated directly into Berserk Lion’s ears, catching him off guard and rupturing his eardrums, rendering him temporarily deaf.
Blood Wolf, being more cunning, had refrained from engaging. Even as Berserk Lion rushed forward, Blood Wolf remained poised, never intending to join the fight.
The Berserk Lion Clan’s arrogance blinded them; they failed to consider that with the cautious nature of the Human Race, anyone daring to confront them must not be weak. This individual wouldn’t have appeared without confidence in defeating both adversaries.
As expected, after just one exchange, the Berserk Lion was injured.
“Aooh!” A massive sound wave attack surged towards Wu Xianyao, who swiftly countered with his Azure Dragon.
Under the onslaught of the sound waves, the Azure Dragon shattered piece by piece before dissipating entirely.
Blood Wolf’s face lit up, sensing an opportunity, and immediately turned to flee.
Seeing Blood Wolf attempt to escape, Berserk Lion roared angrily, “Wolf 30, if you run, the Berserk Lion Clan will never spare you.”
“Bullshit! You idiot, use your pig brain for once – why would someone dare to face us alone?” Despite himself, Wolf 30 felt compelled to remind him, knowing their fate now hung in the balance.
Wu Xianyao frowned, “Trying to escape?” He infused Heaven and Earth Energy into the World Illuminating Spear, causing Yang Fire power to surge, followed by a golden flash. Witnessing this attack, Wolf 30 summoned a shield, smirking confidently. It was a 4th Rank defensive shield, capable of withstanding even a single strike from a 5th Rank attack. With this, he believed he could surely make his getaway.
However, the golden flash seemed far from a simple attack.
Under Wolf 30’s watchful gaze, his shield was effortlessly pierced as if made of paper. The strike then shattered his heart, unleashing Yang energy that instantly reduced him to ashes. Wu Xianyao swiftly retrieved Wolf 30’s space ring with a wave of his hand.
“Alright, he’s dead. Your turn now,” Wu Xianyao said, summoning the World Illuminating Spear back into his grasp.
Berserk Lion swallowed nervously, realizing that Wolf 30 had been right; this opponent was incredibly strong, vastly surpassing even himself as a 4th Ranker.
Wu Xianyao wouldn’t give him time to ponder. With each thrust of his spear, it danced like an azure dragon amidst clouds, delivering powerful blows that caused Berserk Lion to repeatedly cough up blood.
Once again sent flying, Berserk Lion spat out a mouthful of blood. “You’ve forced my hand! Bloodline Power, ignite!”
A golden aura engulfed Berserk Lion, indicating he was activating his bloodline power. It was rumored that when Xenobeast bloodlines reached a certain potency, they could harness various supernatural abilities, with purer bloodlines granting more such powers.
However, this Berserk Lion seemed quite weak, highlighting the stark differences even among powerful beings.
Wu Xianyao pointed his spear, “Azure Dragon’s Fury.” A golden Azure Dragon coiled around Wu Xianyao before merging with the World Illuminating Spear. With a roar, the dragon charged towards the Berserk Lion.
“Roooaaar!” The furious dragon spanned three thousand meters.
The Berserk Lion continuously grew until it reached ten meters tall. Facing the hundred-meter-long Azure Dragon, it let out a thunderous roar and punched forward, shouting, “Shatter!”
Yet, how could a mere lion hope to challenge an enraged dragon? The ferocious dragon pushed the Berserk Lion into the ground, relentlessly driving it back for over three hundred meters before finally stopping.
A massive trench, stretching more than three hundred meters, was gouged into the earth. At its end lay the Berserk Lion, unmistakably dead, with blood flowing from all seven orifices, its chest caved in, and wounds riddling its body as blood seeped out slowly.
With a wave of his hand, Wu Xianyao stored the Berserk Lion’s corpse into his space ring.
He then glanced at the two additional space rings he held, along with the accompanying letters given by the black-robed figures earlier. Wu Xianyao decided against reading them, considering it too bothersome.
