Immortal Martial Academy - Chapter 3
Jiu Xian’er stared at the Xenobeast Dog before her, fear gripping her heart. Is this it? Am I going to die now?
Facing the gaping maw filled with bloodlust, Jiu Xian’er closed her eyes, awaiting death’s embrace.
However, after what felt like an eternity, she experienced no pain. Opening one eye cautiously, she saw a man clad in black casual attire holding a golden spear, which had just pierced through the Xenobeast Dog’s skull.
The beast instantly perished.
Upon Wu Xianyao’s arrival, he found numerous bodies lying on the ground, and the foul odor from the Dog Monster suggested it emerged from the underground sewers.
Wu Xianyao glanced back at the frightened girl, then sheathed his spear and walked towards Chen Beixuan.
Chen Beixuan looked at Wu Xianyao, initially overwhelmed with excitement but quickly composed himself. Even Qing Qing’s eyes sparkled with hope.
Wu Xianyao retrieved the World Illuminating Spear, channeling its energy into his Dantian for cultivation, and approached Chen Beixuan. “Now do you believe?”
“Can I really do this? Yes, I must!” Initially doubting himself, Chen Beixuan soon affirmed his resolve.
This was his only chance; failure meant certain death. Having finally seized this opportunity, he couldn’t afford to perish now. His goal was clear: become a Martial Artist, ascend to a Martial God, and protect countless lives.
Jiu Xian’er regained her composure and watched Wu Xianyao conversing with Chen Beixuan, her eyes filled with surprise. He was not just any talent but a budding prodigy.
If she could be matched with him, she might avoid being sent to the battlefield altogether. However, a thought crossed her mind, and Jiu Xian’er shook her head disappointingly.
In Great Xia, everyone aspired to become the spouse of a gifted individual, but the state’s matchmaking process was random, often pairing those with similar appearances.
Wu Xianyao bid farewell to Chen Beixuan, instructing him to visit his home the next day.
Jiu Xian’er secretly followed Wu Xianyao, curious about where he resided.
Sensing her presence, Wu Xianyao vanished from Jiu Xian’er’s sight. Watching her search for him, Wu Xianyao took out a notification letter. While Jiu Xian’er was preoccupied, he swiftly placed it into her small bag.
He wasn’t sure if she would sign it, but chances were high that she would!
Upon returning home, Wu Xianyao began circulating the Nine Suns World Illuminating Art. Although he had reached the Body Tempering Great Perfection realm, it wasn’t yet time to break through; he needed further refinement.
Early the next morning, Chen Beixuan arrived at Wu Xianyao’s doorstep.
Wu Xianyao opened the door, noticing Chen Beixuan dressed in training attire. “Wait here a moment,” he said, “we’re going to the square.”
Wu Xianyao changed into black training attire, creating a striking contrast with Chen Beixuan’s white outfit.
The square was relatively empty, as the academy had not yet opened. Wu Xianyao couldn’t bring Chen Beixuan inside without establishing a spatial anchor by finding their designated area and activating a portal connection.
“What you need to do now is train relentlessly, pushing beyond your limits until you generate the first thread of Qi and Blood within yourself. It will be arduous.”
Chen Beixuan listened attentively, nodding occasionally.
“This is the Beginner Foundation Technique. Memorize it thoroughly before we begin practicing.”
Wu Xianyao handed over the Qi and Blood Martial Dao manual, which covered knowledge from the first to third realms.
Chen Beixuan diligently read through each page.
“Have you memorized the First Realm?” Wu Xianyao asked after about an hour.
Chen Beixuan nodded and returned the book, “I’ve memorized everything.”
Wu Xianyao acknowledged this; considering there were only around 1,000 words per realm, totaling 3,000 for these three realms, it was well within Chen Beixuan’s memory capabilities.
“Excellent. Now, start exercising intensely, surpassing your limits every time. Once your body senses the first thread of Qi and Blood, you’ll have succeeded.”
As Wu Xianyao taught Chen Beixuan, a notification appeared in his mind.
As Chen Beixuan approached Wu Xianyao more closely, his understanding of the Martial Dao deepened effortlessly.
Wu Xianyao’s influence expanded with his increasing power; currently, it had a radius of only one kilometer.
Similarly, as the number of Martial Artists grew, so did the reach of his influence.
In the Muscle Tempering Stage, there were nine distinct movements. Wu Xianyao began teaching Chen Beixuan, and after just five minutes into the first movement, Chen Beixuan collapsed on the ground, gasping heavily.
“Fuck! That’s seriously exhausting, damn!” Panting deeply, Chen Beixuan slowly started pacing to recover before continuing.
On that first day, he dedicated one hour per movement.
After nine hours, Chen Beixuan finally mastered them all.
“All right, let’s call it a day. We’ll continue tomorrow,” Wu Xianyao said, smiling at the exhausted Chen Beixuan.
He then produced a petal-shaped Spirit Medicine, “Before sleeping tonight, consume one leaf from this. Once you finish it, I’ll provide more.”
Without hesitation, Chen Beixuan accepted it silently. After a full day of training, he genuinely felt his growth.
Looking at Wu Xianyao, Chen Beixuan asked, “What is expected of me?”
Wu Xianyao pondered for a moment before replying, “Spread the Martial Dao, protect the Great Xia people, and bring an end to this damned war.”
“Agreed!” Chen Beixuan promptly affirmed without any further questions.
Apart from spreading the Martial Dao, the latter two goals were already being pursued by the entire human race.
In essence, Wu Xianyao’s statement revealed everything and yet nothing specific.
As Chen Beixuan departed, Wu Xianyao chose not to go home but instead wandered aimlessly on the streets.
Some people laughed joyously, only for their laughter to turn into tears moments later.
Others appeared distraught, fearing the impending conscription season.
Some indulged excessively in food and drink, worried they might never get such opportunities again.
Dressed casually in black attire, Wu Xianyao observed this troubled world. Without the system, he would have been among these struggling individuals.
He tapped open his wrist communicator and noticed messages flooding the group chat with his former classmates daily.
Wu Xianyao sent out a recruitment message, including the academy’s address, then promptly closed it. With limited connections, these classmates constituted his entire network. He wanted to help them, but he wasn’t sure if they would believe him.
Realizing the importance of reaching out, Wu Xianyao immediately posted information about the Immortal Martial Academy online.
Whether anyone would come or even believe it was another matter altogether. Chances were, he’d receive more skepticism than interest! After all, few people in this world truly believed in the Martial Dao.
Oh right, there’s also the issue of aptitude testing and obtaining licenses.
This method was quite convenient, as regulations were not strict in this world, and there were no fees involved. However, for lower-tier academies, one must complete a school mission every half-year.
It wasn’t too daunting, and Wu Xianyao felt confident about it.
After finishing his task online, Wu Xianyao headed to the park where he had met Chen Beixuan earlier that day.
In this world, low-level academies typically have only one mission per year, usually involving assassination tasks against relatively low-ranked monster beasts.
There is also a strict hierarchy of academy levels:
Low, Mid, High, Prestigious, and Elite Institutions.
These five tiers range from the simplest at the first level to increasingly challenging at higher levels.
Having absorbed this information, Wu Xianyao stretched lazily, glanced around, and slightly furrowed his brow, “Come out! I know you’re here.”
Wu Xianyao couldn’t believe that his defeat of the Dog Monster went unnoticed, considering cameras and energy devices monitored everywhere.
Three armored warriors, draped in black cloaks, emerged.
They were members of the Great Xia Nightwatchers, with each base comprising a thousand individuals, all possessing innate abilities.
“Hello, I am Chunqiu, Squad Leader of the Ninth Nightwatcher Squad. We would like to invite you to join the Nightwatchers.”
Chunqiu led the trio, their voice muffled by an iron helmet, making it impossible to discern if they were male or female.
