Immortal Martial Academy - Chapter 12
When Wu Xianyao arrived at the scene, he found the situation relatively manageable; even Chen Beixuan was still holding his own.
Wu Xianyao refrained from immediately entering the fray, observing the battlefield while contemplating his next move.
The Monster Race possessed numerous tactics, some of which were incredibly challenging to counter. Attacks like flight, sound waves, and psychic abilities were notoriously difficult to defend against.
To address these challenges, he needed to develop corresponding Martial Skills – ones for flying, and specifically, dealing with sound wave attacks that target the soul could be tricky but feasible.
However, it seemed that these sound wave attacks resembled Tai Chi, employing softness to overcome strength. Thus, internal Martial Skills must also be developed.
Additionally, defensive techniques for protecting the soul should be prioritized, along with advancements in alchemy.
If only Chen Beixuan had access to a few medicinal pills, the battle wouldn’t have been so arduous for him.
Weapons development was another crucial aspect. While conventional weapons posed no significant issue, unconventional weaponry could yield surprising effects.
Only through combat can one truly identify the gaps in their capabilities. Fortunately, they hadn’t yet engaged on the main battlefield; otherwise, they might have been overwhelmed by the enemy forces.
Observing this, Wu Xianyao realized it was time to intervene. In the distance to the south, another fierce battle raged with significant energy fluctuations, but for now, Wu Xianyao couldn’t focus on that front.
If this skirmish continued unchecked, Chen Beixuan and his allies would be overwhelmed.
Wu Xianyao hurled the World Illuminating Spear.
With a flash of golden light, the giant bat plummeted instantly. Seizing the opportunity, Chen Beixuan unleashed a Tyrant Spear strike, causing the alien leader’s head to explode.
With a wave of his hand, Wu Xianyao recalled the World Illuminating Spear back into his grasp.
Upon seeing the World Illuminating Spear, Chen Beixuan’s face lit up, recognizing that reinforcements had arrived.
Chunqiu had been closely monitoring the situation as well. When Chen Beixuan first appeared in trouble, Chunqiu attempted to assist but was blocked by three 3rd Rank Bat Clan experts.
Feeling anxious, Chunqiu knew losing either member of the Sun-Moon Twin Stars, crucial Chosen of Great Xia, was unacceptable—even for the captain himself.
As soon as he spotted the golden glow, Chunqiu sighed in relief; reinforcements had finally arrived. However, upon realizing it was Wu Xianyao, he seemed incredulous, “Wait, what are you doing here, big bro? But wait! You took down a 3rd Rank Bat with just one spear—there might still be a chance!”
Wu Xianyao helped Chen Beixuan to his feet, concerned, “How are you holding up? Are you alright?”
Chen Beixuan circulated his Qi and Blood, dispelling the dizziness. “I’m fine now. Let’s first assist Junlin.”
Wu Xianyao nodded, relieved to see Chen Beixuan still capable of fighting. He swiftly rushed towards Li Junlin, where eight large bats circled overhead, ready to pummel anyone attempting to escape with their sonic attacks.
The trio looked battered and weary. Wu Xianyao summoned a qi blood spear, followed by seven additional blood-red spears coalescing behind him.
With flashes of red, seven streaks of crimson light struck down all but one of the massive bats, rendering them incapacitated and unable to continue the fight.
The battle ended abruptly as Li Junlin sheathed his spear. Li Linyue and Li Linyang, still processing the scene, stared at the fallen bats on the ground, bewilderedly saying, “Is it over already?”
Li Junlin waved dismissively, “Just basic moves, no need to be impressed, bro and sis!”
Initially, Li Junlin had planned to persuade his siblings to join the academy, but now it seemed unnecessary given their performance.
“How are you doing? Are you alright?” Wu Xianyao approached Li Junlin, concerned.
Li Junlin shook his head, “I’m fine, just minor issues. Individually, those creatures aren’t a match for me; it was mainly their overwhelming numbers,” he admitted sheepishly.
Wu Xianyao could tell that in single combat, Li Junlin indeed faced little challenge. It became apparent that developing group attack Martial Skills would be beneficial.
On the other side, seeing the danger subsided, Chunqiu refocused on the battle at hand. The remaining black-robed figures were merely awaiting their inevitable demise.
With the assistance of Chen Beixuan, Li Junlin, Li Linyue, and Li Linyang, the conflict swiftly concluded.
Chunqiu looked at Wu Xianyao with surprise in his eyes, “I didn’t expect you to help me once again.”
Indeed, this could be considered aid. Following the Dog Monster incident, Chunqiu had already faced mild disciplinary action. Had anything happened to the Sun-Moon Twin Stars under his jurisdiction this time, the consequences would have been far too severe for him as just a Squad Leader.
“Small matter!” After ensuring Li Junlin was unharmed, Wu Xianyao decided it was time to leave, taking Chen Beixuan with him.
As they departed, he handed out acceptance letters to all present Nightwatchers.
Chen Beixuan drove Wu Xianyao away from the scene. From the passenger seat, Wu Xianyao gazed at the receding landscape outside and said, “In one month, you’ll head to the battlefield. It’s crucial that you reach the Blood Ignition Realm before then.
“The maximum strength achievable in the Qi and Blood Realm is 100,000 units. In the Blood Ignition Realm, you can increase your power by at least a thousand units daily. I’m not worried about ordinary Monster Races against you.
“But as you witnessed tonight, the ranked Monster Beasts pose a significant threat. Without being gifted, encountering them typically means facing near-certain death.”
Ordinary warriors typically face unranked Monster Beasts. However, with Chen Beixuan’s unique Qi and Blood attributes, he is likely to encounter ranked Monster Beasts on the battlefield.
“I understand. After tonight’s battle, I’ve already glimpsed the threshold of ‘Qi and Blood like a Sea.’ One month should be sufficient to reach the Blood Ignition Realm,” Chen Beixuan nodded, acknowledging the challenge. Although it would be demanding, until he attempted it, nothing was certain. He preferred not to speak prematurely about what might seem impossible.
Chen Beixuan believed that actions should precede judgments; one must try first and consider along the way, adapting as necessary.
As their car navigated through the streets, today’s events sparked numerous thoughts in Wu Xianyao’s mind, serving as a stark reminder for Chen Beixuan – the Monster Race was far from simple adversaries.
Monsters were immensely powerful and not easily dealt with.
Upon returning to the academy, Wu Xianyao watched Chen Beixuan drive away before entering his office.
Wu Xianyao took out a sheet of paper and began outlining the future direction of the academy, focusing on aspects such as Cultivation Techniques, Martial Skills, and resource management – all crucial elements for the students’ development in later stages.
Currently, with a small number of students, the academy could manage some expenses. However, as they progress deeper into Martial Dao training, the demand for resources escalates exponentially.
Wu Xianyao planned to introduce a points-based system later on. Students could earn points through completing academy tasks or exchanging resources for them. Both Martial Skills and Cultivation Techniques would require points for acquisition, creating a closed loop that would foster the academy’s growth.
Early the next morning, Wu Xianyao opened the gate to find Lan Yuecai standing at the entrance. With a smile, he greeted her warmly, “Welcome aboard!”
Having witnessed Wu Xianyao’s immense power the previous day, hope surged within Lan Yuecai; perhaps she too could one day join the battlefield and assist her brother.
“Welcome? You’re not even helping with my luggage,” Lan Yuecai rolled her eyes, gesturing towards three large suitcases beside her.
Smiling, Wu Xianyao picked up the suitcases and guided Lan Yuecai into the academy. At the Heavenly Stairs, she paused briefly before confidently ascending.
Observing from above, Wu Xianyao noted approvingly that Lan Yuecai seemed to possess a strong Aspiration for Martial Arts.
After settling Lan Yuecai, Chen Beixuan approached him.
“Xianyao, some people have arrived outside needing your attention. Li Junlin also brought his older siblings, and I’m not equipped to handle this situation – you should take care of it!” Chen Beixuan sheepishly admitted, acknowledging his lack of expertise in such matters.
Wu Xianyao nodded, realizing these administrative tasks were indeed challenging. However, they lacked suitable personnel for management, culinary work, and supermarket operations. It became clear that recruiting individuals for these roles needed immediate attention.
After instructing Chen Beixuan to guide Lan Yuecai through initial enrollment procedures, Wu Xianyao headed back to the Outer Court. The Outer Court encompassed the former abandoned factory, while the Inner Court housed the Immortal Martial Academy, as per Wu Xianyao’s plan.
