Mo Shouchen froze completely. He didn’t dare turn his head, but he wanted to see what was making the sound. So he kept his head still and slowly turned his eyes to the left.

As his gaze moved, he first saw a handcart, followed by the silhouette of a person who looked like a hotel cleaner.

“Hello, do you need any help?”

The voice sounded just like the female cleaner he had encountered at the women’s restroom.

Because the other person was very polite, Mo Shouchen became bolder.

He turned his head slightly, but after seeing the person’s face clearly, his heart skipped a beat like being struck by a hammer.

He saw a terrifying face.

It was no less terrifying than the woman he had encountered in the elevator.

The upper half of the face was indeed exactly the same as the female cleaner he had met before, but the lower half of her face had no lips, and two rows of sharp, serrated teeth were exposed. If someone were bitten by that, it would definitely tear off the flesh and bones!

Even more horrifying was that besides the hotel amenities, the trolley she was pushing also contained an ice bucket with a mangled, bloody limb stuck inside. The wound was still bleeding, meaning the limb had likely been recently ripped from a person.

Mo Shouchun was terrified by the sight. His first instinct was to run, but his reason held him back. It had to be said that the multiple shocks he’d experienced that day had given him a strange calmness in the face of fear.

The only difference between this “cleaning lady” and an ordinary person was her lower face. He had been covering his lower face to stop the bleeding, and it led him to a very bold conjecture: the “cleaning lady” hadn’t attacked him because she mistook him for one of her own!

He composed himself, looked away from her face, and said in as calm a tone as possible, “No…it’s nothing. I just tripped and fell. You go ahead with your work. I can wash myself.”

With that, he turned to leave.

“Wait a minute!”

Just as Mo Shouchen was about to leave this troublesome place, the “cleaning lady” suddenly called out to him, making his heart leap into his throat. Had he accidentally given himself away?

He turned around cautiously, only to see the “cleaning lady” hand him a roll of toilet paper. She grinned at him. “There’s no toilet paper in the men’s room. Here you go.”

… It turned out to be a false alarm.

Mo Shouchen secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

The “cleaning lady’s” grin should have been a beautiful smile, but a smile without lips was just too frightening. Compared to this smile, Kayako from Ju-on seemed as cute as the girl next door.

Mo Shouchen took the toilet paper with a slightly trembling hand, said thank you, and turned to leave again.

He was filled with anxiety since he wasn’t sure if he had really fooled the “cleaning lady”.

He wanted to turn back to see if she was following, but he didn’t dare. He was afraid that if he turned around now it would arouse her suspicion.

He could only grit his teeth and keep walking forward while carefully listening for movements behind him.

Finally, he reached the entrance of the public restroom. Taking advantage of the moment, he pushed open the men’s restroom door and quickly glanced back. Fortunately, the “cleaning lady” had already pushed the trolley in another direction. It seemed that she really thought he was one of her kind.

After entering the men’s restroom, Mo Shouchen quickly hid in the first stall. As soon as he locked the door, he slumped onto the toilet. He felt like his heart was about to explode.

Initially, he had thought that the most dangerous part of the elevator game was the woman he met on the fifth floor. Now he realised that the whole game was filled with pits and suffocating terror.

If he hadn’t accidentally broken his nose while escaping the elevator, he might have been devoured alive by the “cleaning lady” by now.

As for the severed limb in the ice bucket, it was so badly mangled that it was impossible to identify whether it belonged to Liu Lei or Zou Qianqian.

Mo Shouchun had long considered giving up, but going back like this would not only prevent him from facing Liu Lei’s family but also condemn him to a lifetime of guilt. He could only steel himself.

He was determined to find Liu Lei, dead or alive. He was all alone anyway. If he died here, it would be like a premature reunion with his parents.

His nosebleed had almost stopped. Mo Shouchun wiped the blood from his face with a tissue, got up and pressed his ear against the door to listen for any sounds outside. After confirming that no one was in the restroom, he pushed the door open and went out.

Liu Lei had previously texted, saying he was hiding in the public restroom of this floor, so Mo Shouchun decided to start from here and see if he could find any clues.

He carefully walked to the second stall and gently pushed the door open. It was clean inside. There was nothing there. He then went to the third stall, placed his hand on the door and pushed, but this time the door wouldn’t budge.

Someone was inside?!

Mo Shouchun was startled and involuntarily took two steps back. Since hiding in the first stall, he had been paying close attention to the outside. No one had entered the restroom during this time. Could someone have been in the third stall from before he came in?

But thinking about it more carefully, that couldn’t be right. He’d been inside for so long. If someone really was in the third stall, there would have been a lot of noise. There was also no reaction after he pushed the door. It didn’t seem like anyone was there.

Was this stall being used as a storage room? That would answer why it was locked.

To verify his theory, Mo Shouchun slowly bent down and tried to peek through the crack under the door to see if anyone was inside. But just then, with a loud bang, the door behind him opened.

“What are you doing?”

That voice… was it Liu Lei?!

No!

This was another world, and Liu Lei absolutely dared not speak so loudly. This meant that the person standing behind him now…

Mo Shouchen quickly covered his face with his hands, straightened up and slowly turned towards the door.

A face that was both familiar and terrifying gradually came into his view.

Familiar, because the upper half of this face was exactly the same as Liu Lei’s.

Terrifying, because the lower half of this face had no lips, and its teeth were sharper than the “cleaning lady” from before.

Just one glance made one feel like their skin was being pricked by needles.
