I’m Trapped in a Cube - Chapter 64
Mo Ling just watched as the Primordial Cell and the sheep-headed person made a deal.
Then, the Primordial Cell on the frame slowly broke free and returned to the sky.
This time, the sheep-headed person didn’t stop it, only looked a little regretful.
It casually swung its saw, cutting its own frame in half, then ran off somewhere and disappeared.
The Primordial Cell didn’t stay either; the bubble entered the cell and slowly vanished. The Transparent Tribe’s stones could no longer hit it.
The cell drifted in the air again, rising into the darkness, destination unknown.
An incomprehensible being.
After a moment of silence, the Transparent Tribe began to cheer and rejoice.
“We defeated the blasphemer!”
Laughter and joy filled the area, everyone celebrating the victory of faith.
“This is another great victory for the Transparent Tribe. In a few days, we’ll hold another festival, repair the temple, worship the goddess, maybe we’ll be blessed!”
“I think we should carve this battle on a stone tablet and place it at the temple entrance, so all who come to our village can see our wit and bravery!”
They congratulated each other, and the Transparent Tribesperson who had climbed the roof was hoisted up by his companions, hailed as a “hero.”
……
Mo Ling watched for a while, sighed, and returned to the temple through the hole.
Compared to the laughter outside, the atmosphere among the human squad in the temple was clearly gloomy.
Liang Zhi had already been restrained, his spine locked by a mechanical device, but his face was full of relief.
At that moment, Mo Ling suddenly remembered what the Primordial Cell had said earlier.
“The chicks will never come to this world again.”
“Did that mean the passage would close?”
Mo Ling quickly told Li Luo, who immediately informed Captain Su, urging him to evacuate.
Captain Su quickly ordered everyone to leave the temple and return the way they came.
“What about these spines, Captain?”
“Pick up a few if you want. If you can’t take them, leave them.”
After leaving the temple, they saw the Transparent Tribe outside celebrating.
“What happened? Why are they so happy when their leader just died?” a soldier asked in confusion.
Captain Su punched him on the shoulder. “Don’t worry about it, just hurry up and get out.”
The Transparent Tribe all gathered in the square. Seeing the human squad running out of the village, they didn’t stop them, still celebrating.
Through the dense fern forest, everyone finally reached the camp at the passage.
“Get everyone back through the passage! Now!” the captain ordered.
So, under orderly arrangements, the investigation team began to leave the underground world through the mushroom passage.
The ascent was much slower than the descent, but fortunately the passage hadn’t closed yet. Only after everyone returned to the surface did the meat inside the passage begin to wither.
The last few soldiers rushed out with research equipment.
“Anyone left below?” Captain Su asked quickly.
“No, but a lot of underground samples were left behind, we couldn’t bring them all,” a soldier replied.
Captain Su breathed a sigh of relief. “It’s fine, as long as everyone’s back. Pack up, we’re heading to the outpost.”
……
At the outpost, staff were counting the spoils brought back.
Captain Su said to Li Luo, “This time I have to go back to the Monitoring Station myself, have to escort him back.” He pointed at Liang Zhi.
Liang Zhi gave a bitter, apologetic smile. On the way back to the outpost, he’d seen many facilities damaged by the riot.
Now clear-headed, he seemed to realize the harm he’d caused, his face growing paler.
After a rest, everyone set out for the Monitoring Station.
Far from the high walls, they didn’t return to the Seventh Monitoring Station until two days later.
The news of Station Head Liang’s arrest caused a huge stir, and the whole station began discussing it.
Soon, Dawn City sent people to investigate.
Li Luo, meanwhile, feasted with the cube at the station.
Du Kang watched the floating cube.
“You’ve had a rough time. Next time something like this happens, just run.”
“Who would’ve thought Liang Zhi was hiding so much? I’ve dealt with him for so long and never saw it.”
At this, Du Kang slammed the table, gritting his teeth.
“He was replaced as soon as he came to the Abyss, you couldn’t have known,” Li Luo explained.
“True.” Du Kang nodded, then frowned, puzzled. “But where did the real Liang Zhi go? He couldn’t have just vanished, right? Did he get killed?”
At that, the two fell silent.
Anything was possible.
“I’m just talking, don’t mind me. Maybe the original Liang Zhi went to another world,” Du Kang quickly said.
“By the way, does that anti-cell world really exist?”
“Maybe.”
After Liang Zhi was escorted back to the Monitoring Station, an official Hunter squad was sent to the Containment Zone to investigate the Great Hollow Tree.
If there really was a gate to another world, maybe another high wall would be built.
“As expected, prejudice and hostility can’t be abandoned. Even if Liang Zhi found the Primordial Cell, so what?” Du Kang sighed, helpless.
No one dared make a judgment about the outsider; no one wanted to take responsibility.
Sensing the topic was too heavy, Du Kang quickly changed the subject, talking about Li Luo’s points.
“Your designated mission this time, since the issuer had a problem, you won’t get points for that, but Captain Su said all the underground samples will count for you. Check your notifications these days.”
Li Luo was surprised, nodded.
Captain Su was really loyal.
The two chatted about the mission, then said their goodbyes. Du Kang said a lot of people from Dawn City had come recently, he was exhausted and needed to rest.
A few days later, Li Luo’s tablet really did show a lot of point notifications.
All the underground samples were credited to her.
Even the bounty for helping resolve the riot was added.
With the constant updates, Li Luo’s points broke ten thousand.
But then, a strange red message appeared at the top of the notifications, an official message:
“Ms. Li Luo, please report to the Seventh Monitoring Station’s interrogation room for investigation.”
Short but powerful.
Li Luo brought the cube to the interrogation room.
The investigator from Dawn City kindly asked Li Luo about Liang Zhi and the mission.
“Don’t worry, your records are clear, and Captain Su told me about you. Just confirming again,” the investigator said gently.
“How is Liang Zhi now?” Li Luo asked curiously.
Unexpectedly, the investigator’s face showed an awkward expression.
After thinking, he said, “There’s a problem, something strange happened.”
“What strange thing?” Li Luo pressed.
The investigator rubbed his temples, troubled. “We asked him to use the Druid’s Spine to turn back to his original form, but his original form is just what he is now.”
“That is to say, he’s not actually the Theseus Cell life he claimed to be.”
“There’s no anti-cell world in the Great Hollow Tree, and he’s not some world-crossing outsider.”
Liang Zhi is just an ordinary person……
