I’m Trapped in a Cube - Chapter 34
Mo Ling began to doubt whether his experiences were even real.
“Why was it that every time he returned here, he would land right next to Li Luo without fail?”
“Did the Transforming Tree tribe he saved and the Theseus Cell world outside really exist?”
He couldn’t tell.
Mo Ling felt like his brain was about to burn out.
The deeper he thought, the more his vision blurred.
“Maybe I’m just hypoglycemic.”
……
After eating the snacks Li Luo brought, Mo Ling finally recovered.
He stopped thinking about those things and felt much better.
Watching the food on the cube disappear one by one, Li Luo looked on enviously.
“I have to say, your relic’s appetite is really something. Ever since I came to the Abyss, I’ve lost my appetite for most of the things I used to like.”
Mo Ling had heard about this at the monitoring station as well.
Each layer of the Abyss brings different burdens, mostly manifesting as various physiological symptoms, like how humans feel water pressure when diving deep into the ocean.
But Mo Ling really didn’t feel anything.
Other than the occasional full-body soreness from being in the cube, he didn’t feel any discomfort.
Maybe loss of appetite was just one of Li Luo’s symptoms.
After Mo Ling was full, Li Luo ran into a new problem.
“I still don’t know how to get you up there, it’s too high.”
Only then did Mo Ling realize he hadn’t shown his flying ability to Li Luo yet.
He quickly controlled the cube, leaving the pool and slowly floating up into the air.
The flying ability wasn’t affected at all.
Li Luo’s eyes widened as she watched the cube, “So you can fly on your own?”
To avoid further misunderstanding, Mo Ling quickly explained on the electronic screen, “Just learned it.”
He even let Li Luo try sitting on the cube, carrying her up toward the top of the Great Hollow Tree, testing his flying ability.
Soon, the cube rose to the edge of the hollow.
“So steady,” Li Luo said, curiously enjoying the cube elevator and praising, “This is way more stable than that crappy car.”
Mo Ling had worried that flying up might attract attacks from creatures, but he found that the creatures along the way had grown much calmer.
It seemed the biological anomaly had truly ended.
The cube flew toward the Transforming Tree tribe. Even with Li Luo aboard, Mo Ling didn’t find it hard to control.
Instead, the girl was unusually excited, constantly praising the cube.
Returning to the tribe, the familiar scene made Mo Ling feel a sense of disorientation.
He even felt like the Transforming Trees were about to rush up and “praise the Holy Relic” again.
But without a chieftain like before, these Transforming Trees were clearly more innocent.
They seemed to have noticed the anomaly had stopped, and were now preparing to send a group of companions to fulfill their goal of becoming trees.
Mo Ling was amazed to see that the planting sites they chose corresponded exactly to the forest where they’d been born.
And from now on, more Transforming Trees would probably come through the Great Hollow Tree.
Mo Ling was glad he’d saved the tribe.
While he wandered the tribe, a small team hurried over.
It was Captain Su and his group.
Most of the soldiers looked confused.
As soon as they entered the tribe and saw Li Luo standing leisurely by the cube, Captain Su rushed over.
His face, wrapped in bandages, was unreadable, but his tone was full of excitement, “What happened? The biological riots in the whole containment zone have stopped.”
Realizing he was too anxious, he took a few deep breaths before asking, “Was it because of the Transforming Tree tribe?”
Li Luo calmly sent all the data from the past few days to Captain Su.
He didn’t stand on ceremony, quickly flipping through it.
“God’s Voice caused the Theseus Cell chaos, which triggered the riots?”
Li Luo nodded.
After reading carefully, Captain Su suddenly understood, “No wonder, every beast tide was a mix of all kinds of monsters.”
“How did God’s Voice disappear, do you know?” he pressed.
“It just vanished one night. I don’t know the exact time. I only noticed the riots easing, and when I went back into the range, I couldn’t hear it anymore.”
Captain Su thought for a long time, then sighed.
“When God’s Voice first appeared, it was just as mysterious. Luckily, the damage this time wasn’t too great.”
He then explained what they’d found at the outpost over the past few days.
After returning, the first thing he did was check the communications and station lines, but found nothing wrong.
Seeing the riots subside, he guessed something must have happened on Li Luo’s end and rushed over.
Li Luo asked, “Did you try any other means of communication?”
Captain Su shook his head, “No, this is the only line. The Abyss interferes with signals too much, there’s no other way.”
Li Luo then told Captain Su about the fused creatures inside the Great Hollow Tree.
Captain Su rubbed his temples, troubled, “Looks like we’ll have to find time to clear it out. If something really bad shows up, we’re done for.”
He went to the back and explained the situation to the soldiers.
Though still confused, the soldiers visibly relaxed.
With the riot confirmed over, at least they could catch their breath.
“Our other team members also reported a possible Theseus Cell escape tunnel. Want to take a look?” Captain Su asked.
It seemed as soon as the riot ended, the outpost had made a big discovery.
Li Luo nodded at the captain, habitually pressing her wristband, then stood still.
Mo Ling also froze, then realized what was wrong.
“Why weren’t they moving?”
Oh, the car was gone.
That expensive mountain vehicle was probably now just parts at the bottom of the Great Hollow Tree.
She crouched by the cube and whispered, “Do you mind revealing your ability?”
Mo Ling shook the cube as if to say no.
Captain Su looked for a moment, then noticed Li Luo’s car was missing.
“We have a supply cart in the back, do you need it?” Captain Su pointed behind him.
Li Luo waved him off.
Then, to everyone’s shock, Li Luo stood up and said, “Let’s go.”
The cube floated off the ground, rising to hover above Li Luo’s head.
The heavy metal block followed behind her like some kind of tracking automatic weapon.
The regular cube and the slender girl made a striking contrast.
Even Captain Su looked up at the cube, speechless.
Li Luo had to remind him several times before he came to his senses and called the soldiers to lead the way.
The soldiers kept glancing back at the cube.
Finally, one couldn’t help but ask, “How does your relic have so many abilities?”
Li Luo thought for a moment, then used Mo Ling’s line, “I just learned it.”
