I’m Trapped in a Cube - Chapter 31
Thinking about what might happen to the Transforming Trees without him, Mo Ling felt even worse.
“I have to get back up there.”
If he hit the bottom, would he return to the original world? Then repeat the process to come back here?
Mo Ling quickly dismissed this unrealistic idea.
If he did, there’d be nothing left of the tribe when he returned.
“If only I could teleport myself.”
Suddenly, inspiration struck.
He’d only tried teleporting his body, never the entire cube!
That had always been his blind spot.
He quickly targeted the cube itself with the teleportation frame.
As he activated it, he felt the cube suddenly halt.
“What happened?”
The cube, which had been falling at high speed, now hung motionless in midair.
Mo Ling wasn’t injured by the sudden stop.
Inertia didn’t exist anymore.
The metal cube felt as if it were a paper boat floating on water.
All around was a calm surface, the boat gently rocking on the waves.
He just needed to give it a push.
With a thought, the heavy metal cube floated upward like a feather.
Mo Ling was overjoyed.
“It worked!”
He didn’t know why.
But as long as he teleported the whole cube, it would enter this floating state, moving with his will.
Not only that, but as he got better at controlling it, the cube floated faster and faster, soon reaching the Cave Demons’ vibration site.
The cube anchored in midair, unaffected by inertia.
The Cave Demons hammering the wall were instantly shredded by invisible attacks.
The shaking lessened.
After finishing them off, the cube sped upward, searching for the next target.
Like a precise killing machine, the cube floated up, hunting down every hidden Cave Demon.
Mo Ling grew more adept at controlling it.
At first, the cube just floated straight up, sometimes crashing into branches.
Later, he could steer it around obstacles, even searching the walls for hidden Cave Demons.
The vibrations no longer mattered-the Cave Demons hiding in the walls were like lambs to the slaughter.
With free movement, Mo Ling easily found and killed them all.
Before he knew it, he’d floated the cube back to where he’d fallen.
The scene broke his heart.
The Transforming Trees had suffered heavy losses.
The brave warrior had already been torn apart by the Cave Demons.
The tribe was surrounded on all sides, the weak Transforming Trees fighting desperately with any tool they had.
Mo Ling had thought the tribe would lose all hope after seeing the cube fall.
But he was wrong.
“Comrades! Take the Cave Demons with you, the more you kill now, the more can reach the Great Hollow Tree in the future!”
The chieftain shouted himself hoarse.
“The Qifang Tribe is destroyed, but another will rise!”
“Kill!”
The round-bodied Transforming Trees rushed at the savage Cave Demons, stabbing with wooden spears.
The short spears barely slowed the Cave Demons, but it was all they had.
The brave Transforming Tree was quickly torn in half.
Others rushed forward, piling onto the wounded Cave Demon, dragging it down with them.
They fought on, dying together with their enemies.
So that’s what it was.
When he’d been below, Mo Ling had always seen Transforming Trees and Cave Demons falling down.
He’d thought it was just the chaos of battle, but now he saw how tragic it really was.
But now, the Transforming Trees didn’t have to die like that.
The chieftain, spear in hand, charged a Cave Demon, face full of resolve.
The spear pierced the Cave Demon, which opened its screw plates to slice him apart.
But instead of the chieftain being split in two, it was the Cave Demon that froze, riddled with bloody holes.
Seeing the familiar attack, the chieftain looked around.
When he spotted the cube rising from the hollow, he couldn’t contain his joy.
“Praise the Holy Relic!”
The desperate Transforming Trees gazed devoutly at the cube.
By now, the sun was high, a ray of light slicing into the hollow.
The rising cube caught the sunlight.
The metal walls reflected dazzling beams, like a god’s arrival.
The burning sunlight shone on the savage Cave Demons, followed by invisible stripping attacks.
The Cave Demons, impossible for the Transforming Trees to defeat, didn’t even have time to flee before being reduced to meat.
The shadow over the tribe vanished in an instant.
Where they’d been slaughtered moments before, now they saw the dawn of victory.
Bathed in light, the cube reflected warmth onto the survivors.
The Transforming Trees dropped their weapons and knelt.
“Praise the Holy Relic!”
Inside the cube, Mo Ling watched them kneel, feeling they were even more devout than before.
But the chieftain’s reaction was the most intense.
His face was wild with fanaticism, bowing again and again, chanting praise.
Mo Ling was puzzled.
“You’re the only one who knows this is all a lie, so why are you the most excited?”
He floated the cube over and tapped the chieftain’s forehead.
He’d meant to get the chieftain to stand, but the gesture only made him more excited.
“All right.”
Mo Ling gave up and floated toward the hollow’s edge.
“Looks like the Cave Demons are all gone.”
He searched carefully-no Cave Demons, no more shaking or howling.
“If there are any left, there’s nothing I can do.”
After searching, he floated to the top of the hollow.
The Transforming Trees followed closely, returning with him to the tribe.
“Are they going to follow me forever?”
Mo Ling landed on the chieftain’s podium, hoping to rest.
He was exhausted from learning to fly and fighting Cave Demons.
But the Transforming Trees were full of energy. Back at the tribe, they gathered at the podium, ready for another victory speech.
They crowded around the cube, eyes full of fanaticism.
