Mo Ling felt somewhat embarrassed by what the little person said.

He hadn’t really done anything. Compared to those races who had struggled on the island for two thousand two hundred years, all he had done was use his authority to delete some accounts.

Everything had simply fallen into place naturally.

“The Chali Tribe won’t interfere with those newly born mermen’s development anymore, right?”

“Of course.”

Hearing the little person’s answer, Mo Ling breathed a sigh of relief.

Mo Ling helplessly shook his head. In the conflicts on this island, the biggest victims were this group of newly born mermen.

The entire race’s fate had been toyed with by others.

Whether it was the fish swarm or the Chali Tribe, both had been using the newly born mermen to realize their own plans.

Suffering always befalls the weak.

Day after day, they were trapped on this island, not knowing their lives were just part of someone else’s plan, not knowing there were two suffocating mountains pressing down above their heads.

“What do you plan to do with those newly born mermen?” Mo Ling asked curiously.

The little person on his shoulder remained silent for a long time before answering.

“Just let them continue as they are. Those newly born souls have nothing to do with the fish swarm, we can still distinguish that clearly.”

“That’s good…”

Mo Ling was truly worried that Bai Zhou and the Chali Tribe would go to extremes.

From what he could see so far, they hadn’t been blinded by hatred.

Mo Ling continued walking forward, and the light cluster ahead became increasingly obvious.

This was an extremely huge ball of light.

Floating high in the air, with some thread-like light paths constantly flowing within it.

Through the layers of fog, Mo Ling finally understood where that light was coming from.

This wasn’t a ball of light without any source.

But rather a sphere formed by countless decay eaters creatures intertwined together.

They were interconnected and pressed against each other, gathering in the air into an aggregate resembling a ball of yarn.

That light was precisely emanating from within these decay eaters creatures’ bodies, refracting through their companions’ bodies before shining into the fog.

The decay eaters creatures within were still slightly writhing, though they didn’t seem as lively as when Mo Ling first saw them on the Moon Altar.

They all appeared quite drowsy, in some sort of sleeping state, and their writhing was merely sleepwalking.

Mo Ling’s arrival didn’t attract the attention of this cluster of decay eaters creatures either. They continued to intertwine, emitting faint light.

“What is this?” Mo Ling looked at these decay eaters creatures and asked in shock.

Arriving beneath the light cluster, Mo Ling stopped and looked up.

“Chali Tribe,” the little person explained from the side.

“I know this is the Chali Tribe, but what are they doing?”

Mo Ling couldn’t understand these decay eaters creatures’ behavior.

“You’ll know once you come over.”

The little person suddenly jumped down from Mo Ling’s shoulder, leaping into that cluster of decay eaters creatures, then his figure suddenly disappeared.

“Don’t worry, come over,” the voice came from the center of those decay eaters creatures, as if countless Bai Zhous were speaking to Mo Ling. “Put your hand on them.”

So Mo Ling extended his finger, gently touching the surface of those writhing decay eaters creatures.

Immediately, he discovered that the spot his fingertip touched turned to stone, rapidly spreading along the sphere’s surface.

Not only that, but petrification traces like tree roots quickly penetrated into the decay eaters creature ball. Mo Ling’s touch seemed to activate this cluster of decay eaters creatures, and he saw these originally inactive decay eaters creatures begin to writhe violently.

The originally transparent “light cluster” quickly dimmed, and the entire sphere began to be replaced by stone.

Suddenly, Mo Ling felt the suction force that had appeared when capturing decay eaters creatures with Immortal Wood, pulling at him from all directions.

This suction grew stronger and stronger. Mo Ling wanted to pull out his hand, but the harder he tried, the deeper his hand went, until his entire palm was embedded in the stone.

The suction began to become increasingly irregular, sometimes strong, sometimes weak, and the direction was very strange, as if countless people were grabbing him around Mo Ling, shaking him back and forth.

This force even lifted him from the ground and threw him into mid-air.

This roller coaster-like sensation made Mo Ling dizzy, and he couldn’t even tell which way was up and which was down.

Just when Mo Ling thought the little person was tricking him, the shaking sensation suddenly stopped, the suction instantly vanished without a trace, and the chaotic directions quickly returned to normal.

As if nothing had just happened, everything was incredibly peaceful.

But Mo Ling’s head was still buzzing, difficult to calm down.

“What happened?”

Mo Ling came to his senses and found himself still standing quietly, his hand touching a huge circular stone.

This stone looked like an ordinary boulder from the mountains, appearing to have nothing special about it.

The thick fog had also disappeared, and sunlight poured down, shining on Mo Ling’s still stiff arm, warm and cozy.

“Wait, how could there be sunlight?”

“Wasn’t this underground?”

Mo Ling looked up to see the sun hiding behind clouds, warm light spilling onto his body. The cold feeling of being in the fog instantly disappeared.

“Feels good, doesn’t it?”

Bai Zhou’s voice sounded nearby.

Mo Ling quickly looked over and found he was still wearing those simple cloth clothes, but they were very clean, and the stubble on his face seemed to have been carefully groomed.

He was bathing in the sunlight, looking at Mo Ling with a face full of smiles.

“Yes, it feels very good.” For some reason, Mo Ling suddenly felt warmth rising in his heart too.

“Long time no see.”

“Long time no see…”

The distant forest was filled with chirping bird calls, and sunlight filtered through the treetops.

A gentle breeze blew by, making the leaves rustle. The light and shadow falling on Bai Zhou’s face also became somewhat blurred.

The two looked at each other for a long time without speaking.

Mo Ling gazed at this somewhat unreal Bai Zhou, feeling a bit dazed.

“Come sit at my place.”

Bai Zhou waved at Mo Ling and walked down the mountain.

Mo Ling looked at this somewhat unreal scene. Words came to his lips, but he swallowed them back down.

“The village hasn’t had visitors for a long time. It’s really nice that you could come.”

Bai Zhou walked while making small talk with Mo Ling.

Mo Ling didn’t say a word, following Bai Zhou down the mountain.

A village with curling cooking smoke appeared before them. The fence at the village entrance was crooked, and the simple but clean stone road extended inward.

The houses in the village were all bathed in golden light, and the air was filled with the fragrance of vegetation and cooking.

In the distance, some green vegetable patches could be seen.

Bai Zhou walked ahead, enthusiastically introducing the village to Mo Ling.

A Chali Tribe member with tree roots wrapped around their entire body poked their head out from behind a house and greeted the two.

“That’s my student. You probably can’t tell them apart, right? All Chali Tribe members look the same.”

“When I first arrived on their island, I couldn’t tell them apart either. Later I figured out you have to look at the number and shape of their tree roots. For example, my student has a twisted knot in the tree roots at their chest, very easy to distinguish…”

Mo Ling looked at him and responded softly.

And Bai Zhou also patted the head of a little girl beside him.

“Go play first. Big brother needs to entertain a guest…”
