Just as the two sides were at daggers drawn, Li Luo burst out from behind the crowd and said a few words to Jeff, causing Jeff to withdraw his water flow tentacles in a daze.

After curiously examining the armor a few times, Jeff turned around and directed the pseudo-mermen behind him to continue fleeing from the Moon Altar.

Li Luo ran forward and patted Mo Ling’s arm, urging him to quickly keep up.

The light from the runic lines didn’t last long. Soon it stopped overflowing and became only faintly glowing, but Jeff wasn’t reassured. After leading everyone to escape to the stairs at the edge of the Moon Altar, he slowly stopped.

“Let’s go down first. Something’s not right here,” he said cautiously.

The path from the Moon Altar to the mermen village seemed to have been leveled. It appeared the mermen had put a lot of effort into building the Moon Altar.

The team grew larger and larger, with mermen and pseudo-mermen mixed together, not distinguishing between each other.

As the runic light faded, that merman was no longer as fearful as before.

Everyone was shocked by the changes before them and stood in place, not daring to act rashly.

Li Luo looked at the words on the electronic screen with a grave expression.

“Of course… but…”

He didn’t doubt Li Luo either and directly called over that group of pseudo-mermen.

Even if they had forgotten immortality, their understanding of souls was still so deep. Could it be that they had already researched souls before?

Right now, this was the most important matter.

The rigid fish head shook slightly, the fish eyes kept rolling, the mouth continuously opened and closed, and the fish gills were also violently flapping, as if it had been stranded.

After spitting out the last bit of black water, the fish eyes stopped moving, and their gaze instantly became sharp. He wiped his mouth and slowly straightened his body.

Then, those components lined up like magnets, aimed at the component on the merman’s chest, and attached piece by piece.

The moment the component drilled into the merman’s body, it quickly expelled the original soul and implanted the ancient soul from within the component into the body. The replacement speed was extremely fast.

“What?”

Immediately after, the components around him also instantly stopped, glowing faintly, as if forcibly put into sleep mode, floating motionless in the air.

While thinking this, the armor flashing with red light was already rapidly charging toward everyone.

He was first stunned, then immediately aimed his palm at Mo Ling, seemingly wanting to control the components on Mo Ling’s body.

Jeff dismissed the pseudo-mermen’s hesitation with just a few words and led them in a mighty procession toward the village.

Mo Ling had no way of knowing.

After briefly telling Li Luo about the ancient mermen, she nodded, “So it’s a group of ancient dead souls wanting to reclaim their original bodies?”

“What is that thing?”

The armor’s face emitted a faint red glow, coldly staring at the crowd at the village entrance.

From the chest covered in fish scales, a component suddenly emerged, trembling and glowing.

Then, that merman who had been like a sculpture suddenly trembled again and abruptly knelt on the ground.

“More or less.” Mo Ling wrote a brief answer on the electronic screen.

But the current situation clearly showed that for the ancient mermen, reclaiming their bodies was a very simple matter.

And the newly born mermen were just fish on the chopping block to them, with no ability to resist whatsoever.

Li Luo exchanged a glance with Mo Ling and immediately followed.

Jeff was shocked after hearing this.

Finally, that loose soil instantly exploded, and countless components drilled out from within, spinning as they flew into the air, their edges glowing faintly.

Li Luo blurted out a series of concerned questions. Mo Ling didn’t know how to explain for a moment, everything on this island was too strange.

The extra “moon” in the sky and the glowing Moon Altar were already abnormally conspicuous.

However, the components on Mo Ling’s body didn’t move at all. The ancient merman’s control actions had no effect whatsoever.

Accompanied by a series of metallic collision sounds, light flickered at the cracks where components intersected. Those components that had originally been flying in the air quickly assembled into a fitting suit of armor that wrapped around that merman.

“Can we enter the village? The Great Chief won’t allow it.” After hearing Jeff’s words, the pseudo-mermen were still hesitant, asking worriedly.

38.61.64.246

Hearing Jeff’s words, these mermen didn’t doubt anything and immediately put down their work, hurrying toward the village.

After taking a few steps forward, he leaped into the air and actually flew up. The components beside him also swirled, about to surge toward everyone.

He raised his hand, and pieces of components suddenly drilled out from the soil, flying into the air and circling around, following him like sentries.

He opened his mouth, and a stream of water containing black rust debris gushed from his mouth, spreading across the muddy ground.

He had wanted to answer using the stone bracelet, but worried that Li Luo would continue questioning, so he took out the electronic screen from his cube and began writing.

“I’ll go notify the mermen.”

Most of the mermen had noticed the abnormalities on the island.

The ancient mermen had already begun reclaiming their bodies.

The ancient mermen’s technology was indeed beyond expectations.

The armor on the ancient merman also suddenly burst with light. Light patterns flowed through the runic inscriptions, and a runic light path like chains spread across his entire body, fixing the armor in the air.

“The mermen are in danger. There are other things on this island.”

Nine times out of ten, this was the case.

“Are you mermen?” Jeff asked in return.

Mo Ling truly didn’t know what form those ancient mermen were in now. Without bodies, Mo Ling could hardly imagine how they were supposed to move.

“The village might be in trouble. Come back with us.”

After walking down the stairs, Li Luo hurriedly began talking with Mo Ling.

That component seemed to be calling for something. Soon, the surrounding ground reacted, with something disturbing the soil, as if about to break through the earth.

Mo Ling looked at that armor with immense shock in his heart.

The moment the component pierced through from the back of the chest, that merman stopped moving, as if suddenly turned into a sculpture, standing firmly in place.

In the village, a merman saw the crowd at the village entrance and tried to run over while stumbling, but halfway through running, he suddenly stopped and stood in place.

Looking carefully, it turned out to be a small runic component that had pierced through from behind him.

“They abandoned their bodies before, and their souls are attached to the components?”

Just as they reached the village entrance, screams came from within the village.

“That’s right then. Let’s go.”

“No problem.”

First he looked around, then examined his own body, tearing off the tattered human clothes he was wearing.

Along the way, everyone encountered some mermen who were transporting supplies. When they saw a large group of pseudo-mermen, they wanted to avoid them, but Jeff directly stopped them and added them to the group.

They were still too late.

“How did you become like this again? Can you freely switch forms? What’s with this armor? How is it so similar to those pseudo-mermen’s equipment? Where did you get it?”

But just then, he saw Mo Ling, who was also wearing armor, among the crowd.

“I don’t know.”

Li Luo quickly realized the seriousness of the problem, found Jeff, and told him about the situation.

The armor froze, hand stopping in mid-air, seeming somewhat unable to believe it.

“In the village! They must be heading for the place with the most people.” He immediately reacted.

Soon, the village appeared ahead.

Before he could finish speaking, Jeff interrupted them, “What’s the problem with mermen entering a mermen village?”

In the long-silent mermen channel, Mo Ling suddenly heard a long-missed voice, but that voice seemed incredibly fearful, even trembling.

“Highest authority?”
