“Do you need me to make a wish? We can forget about this television,” Mo Ling said, pointing at the television that was still showing static.

“No need. I made two-pronged preparations,” the little sprite said calmly, looking confident.

Mo Ling looked at this unknown being and finally couldn’t hold back. He asked in confusion, “Why are you doing so much for Oasis City?”

Clearly, human safety had nothing to do with it.

Even if Oasis City was destroyed, it wouldn’t affect it in the slightest.

The little sprite floated in the air, as if thinking of something, and the corners of its mouth lifted slightly.

“Because I like humans.”

“Those protective wishes all have deep obsessions.”

“Now these wishes to protect have all become mine, so of course I must properly protect this city.”

The little sprite looked at those high-rises standing firm in the fierce wind and said with relief, “I want to stand on the rooftop every day after school and look into the distance.”

Looking at those streetlights swaying in the tremors but remaining upright, “I want to read books under the streetlights after work every time, watching those bustling crowds.”

Looking at that park completely unaffected despite the spreading ground cracks, “I want to play hide-and-seek with my friends in the park every evening after dinner.”

“I want my shop to be bustling with customers every day.”

“I want my brothers in the guard team to all be safe and sound.”

“I want to celebrate New Year’s livelily every time.”

“I want to wrap myself in blankets, with my phone glowing softly, watching what I love, forever…”

The little sprite became happier as it spoke, as if it had personally experienced these things.

It pointed to a residential building in the distance.

“The wish to make me want to protect this city without hesitation.”

“These are all my wishes.”

Human wishes were making this unknown being also become full of humanity.

It was using the broadness of wishes to spread these distinctive wishes to the things in Oasis City, thereby protecting the safety of these things.

It also made Oasis City incredibly safe.

Mo Ling instantly understood how the little sprite had gathered those wishes.

Protection was so simple.

As the crack grew closer and closer, the little sprite showed no panic.

“It’s coming soon.”

A small boy was standing on a rooftop, playing with a toy gun in his hands.

That was the little boy Mo Ling had seen when he first arrived at Oasis City, who had wished for an infinite candy gun.

He aimed the toy gun at the sky and pulled the trigger.

A pink cube candy was shot toward the sky by the gun.

“What’s that?” Mo Ling asked in confusion.

“Bubble gum.”

After the cube candy flew into the sky, it rapidly expanded, instantly becoming overwhelming.

A huge pink bubble appeared out of nowhere, wrapping around the entire Oasis City.

After a tremor, Oasis City was actually pulled down from the Spiral Turtle’s back by the bubble gum.

The Spiral Turtle didn’t care that something was missing from its back and continued flying toward the crack.

The bubble just floated in the air with Oasis City wrapped inside.

“This is bubble gum?” Mo Ling looked at this huge pink bubble somewhat shocked.

“Of course, infinite candy, isn’t it?” the little sprite said with a smile.

The bubble hung in mid-air, slowly drifting downward.

Oasis City seemed fixed within it, suffering no damage whatsoever.

The little sprite waved its hand to show a scene, and only then did Mo Ling understand why.

At the bottom of the bubble, it was already covered with colorful giant gummy bears.

These gummy candies supported the entire Oasis City, and Oasis City maintained its original state due to the protective wishes.

In the scene, the entire Oasis City was like a perfectly protected toy, surrounded by candy.

The bubble gum made Oasis City slowly descend, the colorful gummy bears reduced the impact, the sticky milk candy fixed everything at the bottom, and countless hard candies filled Oasis City’s foundation.

In every corner, candy was replacing the Spiral Turtle’s function.

“This is what you meant by two-pronged preparation?” Mo Ling looked at this incredibly shocking scene and asked incredulously.

“Yes, that little boy’s wish also included protecting his mother, which was a deeper obsession than his desire for candy,” the little sprite said with relief.

“That’s the protective candy gun.”

Sunlight passed through the pink bubble gum and scattered into Oasis City. The entire city was filled with dreamlike pink light. The originally panicked crowds stopped in their tracks, watching this incredibly bizarre scene.

The ground cracks hadn’t disappeared yet, but within the fissures were colorful jumping candies, filling the cracks like fine sand.

White milk candy ran along the edges of the cracks, fixing the entire city in place. These white “glue” substances also emitted a sweet fragrance.

At the city’s edge, you could see a huge red gummy bear head with cute eyes, looking over the high walls at the people inside the city.

No matter how cute something was, it would become terrifying when magnified countless times.

Because Oasis City was still moving, the gummy bears supporting the city were also swaying slightly. The bear head was squeezed and kept trembling, making it look even more lifelike.

The air also began to fill with various sweet and cloying scents. The aroma of candy spread throughout the entire Oasis City.

The brown sugar, honey, and cream flavors of toffee.

The wheat and glutinous rice fragrance of malt candy.

The rich woody aroma and caramel flavor of maple candy.

The fresh fragrance of osmanthus candy.

Of course, there were also some special odors that people kept their distance from:

The sour smell of tamarind candy became incredibly obvious when magnified.

The smell of durian candy made people afraid to approach.

Some overly sweet candies also became abnormally pungent when enlarged.

But these odors were nothing compared to Oasis City’s safety.

The little boy kept making candy, but the rooftop railings were too high for him to see the distant situation.

Just then, the rooftop door opened.

The little boy’s mother rushed in and hugged him tightly.

“What are you doing?” the woman asked with a face full of worry.

“I just remembered—I wanted the gun to protect Mom,” the little boy said seriously. “Now I’m going to protect all of Oasis City, so Mom and I won’t get hurt.”

The woman was stunned. Looking at the overwhelming candy, she obviously realized that the candy now protecting Oasis City was the little boy’s doing, and her expression became even more worried.

In her urgency, she actually started crying.

At this moment, she wanted to protect her child but didn’t know how to face such a situation.

The little boy used his small hands to wipe the tears from the woman’s cheeks, “Mom, can you hold me up? I can’t see ahead.”

Hearing this, the woman quickly stopped crying, nodded, and lifted the boy up.

At this moment, an adult was actually less emotionally stable than a child.

Sitting in the woman’s embrace, the little boy turned his head and looked into the distance.

“We need a cushion that’s hard but soft enough to catch Oasis City. Mom, do you know what kind of candy is like that?”

The little boy scratched his head, unable to think of anything, and could only ask the woman for help.

…

The woman also looked into the distance following the little boy’s gaze.

From the high rooftop, all of Oasis City was visible, and tears glimmered in the woman’s eyes.

At this moment, Oasis City was caught between stability and collapse.

The woman’s anxious gaze gradually became steady, and her breathing was no longer rapid.

Only her arms holding the little boy tightened a bit more.

As if thinking of something, the corners of her mouth lifted slightly.

“Milk candy.”

“Dad’s favorite was always milk candy…”
