I’m Trapped in a Cube - Chapter 2
“Let’s try and see how this works.” The two black little people looked anxious.
One of them took out a stone knife from his waist and cut open his own finger, pressing the bleeding wound against the metal wall.
“Useless.” The little person shook his head.
Mo Ling watched them, completely confused.
“Use your finger,” the other little person ordered.
Hearing this, the one who had cut his finger seemed frightened and tried to back away.
But the commanding little person grabbed him, pressed his hand against the metal block, snatched the stone knife, and with a swift motion-
Blood and flesh splattered. A finger flew off and landed on the ground.
The little person who lost his finger clutched his hand, wailing on the ground, blood gushing out.
Mo Ling was so scared he collapsed onto the floor.
“At least there’s still a layer of metal wall between me and the outside.”
But the little person who mutilated his companion didn’t stop. He picked up the one on the ground and slammed him against the block.
He chopped off the hand, the arm, the ankle, the ear…
It was like dismemberment. The little person pressed each part of his companion’s body against the metal block one by one.
It was as if he was trying something.
As he tried, the little person muttered to himself, “This isn’t right. This isn’t right either.”
Mo Ling was already so shocked by the bloody scene that he couldn’t move.
“What exactly are these creatures?”
After trying all the body parts, the little person opened his companion’s bundle and took everything out.
Like performing a ritual, he arranged each item on the ground around the metal block.
Clothes, food, tools…
There weren’t many things in the bundle, and the black little person impatiently dumped them all out.
His sinister gaze fixed on the metal block again, as if expecting something.
“This isn’t right either!” The little person grew impatient and viciously kicked the metal block.
The clawed foot kicked toward himself, and Mo Ling instinctively dodged backward.
Bang!
The metal block didn’t budge-the only one hurt was the angry little person.
After a short rest, the little person picked up the objects on the ground and pressed them against the metal wall, still not giving up.
Nothing happened.
Finally, the little person gave up, packed up his things, and prepared to leave.
At this point, Mo Ling was unwilling to let him go.
“I need to make him keep attacking” Mo Ling’s courage was growing.
The little person was about to pack up the items on the ground when Mo Ling targeted one of them and-whoosh.
The berry on the ground disappeared.
One after another, the berries on the ground were quickly swept away.
The little person’s eyes lit up and he hurriedly took out a handful of berries from his own bundle.
Mo Ling accepted them all without hesitation, claiming every berry as his own.
“Even if this little person can’t save me, at least I can store some food.”
The little person dug out all the berries from his bundle and ran out of Mo Ling’s perception range.
When he came back, his hands were full of berries.
After storing a few, the space inside the metal block became cramped. Mo Ling still needed some room to move, so he stopped transporting them.
The little person, seeing that the berries in his hand no longer disappeared, was delighted, put them down, and ran off again.
“What is he doing?”
When the little person appeared again, he was covered in blood, with deep wounds all over his body, staggering as he walked.
He came to the front of the metal block, glancing back with every step, then quickly hid behind it.
Before Mo Ling could observe carefully, a tremendous impact hit.
The metal block was knocked over ninety degrees!
Fortunately, the little person dodged in time-otherwise, he would have been crushed to a pulp.
Inside, Mo Ling was slammed dizzy, crashing hard against the inner wall.
Struggling to look, he saw a ferocious boar-like creature lying on the ground in pain, its back steaming, its eyes glowing with a devouring red light.
The creature quickly got up, its back armor standing on end. Curling up, it turned itself into a ball and rolled toward the little person.
The little person quickly hid behind the metal block again. The ball-shaped creature’s body glowed with an overheated red light, suddenly accelerating, chasing after the little person with its jaws open.
Like Qin Huang circling the pillar several times it nearly crashed into Mo Ling in the middle.
Tl Note: Qin Huang circling the pillar reference to being chased in circles.
“No, if this keeps up, I won’t last either.”
The metal block was sturdy enough, but Mo Ling inside was just flesh and blood.
Mo Ling made a snap decision and quickly teleported a few stones inside, throwing them onto the rolling ball’s path.
But when the ball’s red light flashed, it smashed the stones to powder as soon as it touched them.
“What kind of power is this?”
Mo Ling teleported a trap onto the ground, but the rolling ball could jump over it in time.
Within this limited field of vision, he couldn’t find anything harder than stone.
There was only one option left.
Mo Ling focused his perception on the rolling ball.
Teleport!
Inside the metal space, a bloody cube of flesh appeared.
The red glow on the rolling ball’s body vanished, and it collapsed to the ground.
Its curled-up body unfolded, and a portion of its forelimb was missing, leaving behind a cubic hollow.
Along the extremely smooth cut surface, blood slowly seeped out.
It worked! Mo Ling immediately pressed the advantage.
Holes of various sizes appeared all over the rolling creature’s body, turning it into a riddled mess.
Mo Ling kept throwing the teleported meat cubes out, making it rain meat in the rainforest.
Soon, the original rolling ball was nothing but a heap of irregular rotten flesh, faintly covered with smooth flat surfaces.
And in the puddle, all sorts of cubic chunks of flesh floated.
“Done.” Mo Ling let out a long sigh of relief.
In his field of vision, the thick green of the rainforest had been stained red.
The black little person lay on the ground, hugging his head and trembling. Only when everything quieted down did he slowly stand up.
He looked around, and upon seeing the scene, was terrified-scrambling and crawling out of sight.
Gone was his initial arrogance.
As the adrenaline faded, seeing the bloody mess outside, Mo Ling began to feel nauseous.
Luckily, he had already eaten the worms, so he was less squeamish.
“We’re all trapped here waiting to die, what’s there to be afraid of?”
But now, the only little person who could have saved him had been scared away.
It started to rain outside. The pouring rain washed away all the blood, the drops drumming on the metal block.
The sound of raindrops, the earthy scent of life, filled Mo Ling’s senses.
“What a strange feeling.”
Finally calm, the exhausted Mo Ling drifted off to sleep.
……
When he woke up again, his field of vision had changed.
The scenery around him kept receding-the metal block had been placed on a small cart.
Not only that, but a circle of berries had been arranged on the cart’s planks.
Two black little people struggled to pull the cart in front, as if transporting the metal block somewhere.
Mo Ling quickly became alert.
Outside his field of vision, black figures kept flashing by. It seemed there were many little people around.
Soon, a little person hurried over.
“Hurry up and pull this to the front, humans are about to break in!”
