I’m Trapped in a Cube - Chapter 195
The little sprite floated to the side and sat on the water flow.
It, which had always seemed very optimistic, now appeared very dejected.
“My wish is being realized. I should feel happy,” the little sprite said to itself.
“I don’t even need to realize it myself. Someone will help me slowly realize it. I just need to watch. Why am I still not happy?”
The little sprite looked very troubled.
Mo Ling looked at it, not knowing what he should do.
The historical virtual images had already let Mo Ling understand a lot, the appearance of Oasis City, Li Xiangyi’s origins, the birth of the Wishing Fountain. The only thing he couldn’t understand was this little sprite.
Born from golden light that even the Purple Gauze Creature feared, possessing the powerful ability to seize wishes and fulfill wishes.
It could even be said that this was a life form that could manipulate wishes.
But this unknown life form was actually thinking about whether it was happy or not?
“Does the future me look happy?” the little sprite suddenly raised its head and asked Mo Ling.
Facing the little sprite’s inquiring gaze, Mo Ling could only tell it what he had seen.
Mo Ling didn’t answer immediately, but began recalling.
Scenes from memory kept emerging.
The future little sprite seemed to always be fulfilling the wishes of the children in Oasis City, always wearing a smile on its face.
When communicating with the little children, it also had a gentle tone, without a trace of impatience.
This also reminded Mo Ling of how the future little sprite’s smile instantly disappeared when someone lied.
After listening to Mo Ling’s account, the little sprite lowered its head.
As it spoke, the little sprite’s voice became smaller and smaller, and it lowered its head, “So I’m still not happy.”
Hearing Mo Ling’s question, the little sprite was stunned, “So the future me encountered such a situation.”
It pondered for a moment and answered, “If someone doesn’t make a wish according to their true desire, I can’t obtain their wish either. It’s equivalent to not paying the cost. Those people should be asked to leave by me, right? Did the future me do this?”
Mo Ling didn’t know how the little sprite had reached such a conclusion. Thinking it was a misunderstanding, he quickly explained, “People who lie are only a small part. I saw it smiling quite happily.”
“However, I can also imagine that the future me would tamper with the Relics given to those liars, making them bear the appropriate cost. This is to prevent being exploited.”
The little sprite would create some Relics with unknown side effects as punishment for lying.
“The future me would actually do this. Wishes are sacred things. It must be very angry.”
The little sprite still looked dejected, “I hope so.”
Probably realizing something, it sat in place for a long time without speaking.
While the little sprite was in a daze, Mo Ling continued examining this familiar water flow space. The falling water drops passed through his body without any sensation.
He reached out to try to catch the water drops, but there was no familiar tactile sensation, he could only grasp a damp, slippery water vapor.
“It’s still mirage vapor.”
The concentration of mirage vapor here seemed very high.
“Could the concentration of mirage vapor be related to how far back in time it goes?”
The greater the concentration, the more distant the time?
Mo Ling also secretly transmitted a stream of water into the Cube.
Just like that, a puddle of water splashed onto the metal floor.
“The teleportation ability can indeed penetrate time and illusions.”
This reminded Mo Ling of what Martin had told him before—his teleportation ability seemed to be able to create things that didn’t exist out of thin air.
Making the illusory become real.
Mo Ling also remembered the incident of hitting the bird with a can.
“Can reality also become illusory?”
Or was it not illusory to begin with?
“I need to find something to verify this.” Mo Ling looked around and only saw the little sprite that was in a daze.
It seemed that the only thing that could connect to the future was this little sprite.
After much hesitation, Mo Ling still decided to take action.
Although this little sprite seemed full of mysteries, it appeared to be a relatively friendly type of creature so far, and communicating with it hadn’t caused any conflicts.
“Can you help me with something?” Mo Ling spoke up, breaking the silence.
The little sprite was interrupted from its thoughts, was stunned for a moment, and looked at Mo Ling.
“Do you also want me to help you fulfill a wish? I can’t see your wish, so I can’t fulfill it. You should fulfill it yourself,” it said somewhat apologetically. “You look empty, as if you don’t have any wishes.”
Mo Ling was immediately stunned.
“Empty?”
Thinking about it, the Cube was indeed empty, with only himself inside.
“But aren’t I a cube-person right now?”
After thinking for a moment, Mo Ling decided not to dwell on this matter anymore.
“I’m not asking you to fulfill my wish.”
“Then what do you want me to do?” The little sprite seemed very expectant. “Do I have other uses?”
Without answering the little sprite’s latter question that sounded strange, Mo Ling walked forward a few steps and requested, “I want you to help me carry something.”
“Carry something?” The little sprite was somewhat confused.
“Yes.”
Mo Ling focused his vision into the Cube and began searching.
The inside of the Cube now looked somewhat messy. Martin’s bed was placed in a corner with the button on it. A large pile of food was stacked in the corner beside the bed, and another corner contained various miscellaneous items Mo Ling had brought in.
The last corner was left for Mo Ling’s free movement.
The inside of the Cube was spotless, after the teleportation ability swept through, there wasn’t even a speck of dust.
After scanning inside the Cube for a moment, Mo Ling saw an item.
A canned cola.
Mo Ling often used this can of cola to practice the speed of his teleportation ability, throwing the cola into the air and catching it as it fell.
However, due to various situations, Mo Ling would always get distracted. This can of cola had been battered beyond recognition, full of dents and bumps. The aluminum can was covered with scars, and its exterior had been scratched with all kinds of strange marks.
“This is it.”
In the blink of an eye, Mo Ling had the can of cola in his hand.
“Help me carry this can of cola. If you see me in the future, or see a cube-shaped Relic, please help me give it to him.”
With that, Mo Ling handed the can of cola to the little sprite.
The little sprite caught the cola with both hands, examined it for a moment, and asked curiously, “What are you bringing this for?”
“To do an experiment,” Mo Ling said lightly.
“Okay.” The little sprite didn’t hesitate and placed the can of cola into the nearby water flow, protecting the cola with water flow containing golden light.
“Do you need any payment?” Mo Ling asked with some concern.
He was now very afraid that the little sprite would make excessive demands. His request sounded simple, but actually operating it involved many uncontrollable factors.
Moreover, he was dealing with an unknown Relic life form.
“No need. Thank you for your trust,” the little sprite actually bowed to Mo Ling. “It’s just a small favor.”
Hearing this, Mo Ling breathed a sigh of relief.
He just wanted to see if, after throwing a real object into a historical virtual image, it could affect reality again.
Aluminum cans take two hundred years to decompose.
If the experiment could really succeed, it would be a can of cola that had traveled through time.
