Just like that, the virtual images kept overlapping, and the Shell People’s history kept cycling…

When the graveyard drew close to the surface due to earthquakes, newborn Shell People would be born from the scattered shells. They grew quickly, rapidly maturing into adults.

It was also at this time that mirage vapor rose from the shells illuminated by sunlight, beginning to recreate everything that had happened here before.

The vague god, the first generation whose forms couldn’t be seen clearly…

Because of the constant overlapping of virtual images, the more distant events became increasingly blurred, until only the most recent occurrences would become clear.

Each generation of Shell People would hear the god’s vague words, as well as the experiences left behind by their predecessors.

They weren’t doing useless work, failed predecessors would return to the graveyard and pass on their experiences to the next Shell People.

“The outsiders will capture us. If we fail, return quickly.”

“The outsiders are studying us. Self-decompose after being caught.”

After watching these virtual images, each Shell Person would learn much, laying the foundation for the next attack on humans.

Old Xu watched these scenes with widened eyes.

The Shell People figures nearby kept becoming clearer, gradually becoming more real. This should be the Shell People history from not long ago.

“The routes that are easier for entering the outsiders’ fortress are as follows…”

Although these experiences were only fragments, there were simply too many Shell People—there would always be a few useful pieces.

Casually picking up a shell fragment, Old Xu placed it under the light, letting the radiance cover it.

Old Xu watched with clenched fists, but he was completely helpless against these illusions.

“So this is how they learn. No wonder they’re getting smarter.”

These Shell People were already teaching their descendants how to seize human transport vehicles. After some more time accumulating experience, they might completely master this method.

He crouched down and began searching through the shell fragments scattered everywhere.

Although the overlapping of virtual images caused some scenes to become blurred, most of the experiences had been preserved.

Their shattered shells would create mirage vapor. The people of Oasis City had studied the Shell People for so long, yet never thought that the Shell People would still have such abilities after death.

These Shell People wouldn’t just teach their descendants experiences of attacking humans—they would also tell their descendants about the functions of various facilities, having their descendants try to attack these facilities with special purposes.

The virtual images continued playing, the Shell People’s history kept cycling. They had already begun teaching their descendants how to use human facilities to infiltrate, how to effectively destroy Oasis City, with increasingly sophisticated techniques.

“They’re creating mirage vapor, or rather, mirage vapor is one of their abilities!” Old Xu said in shock.

The descendant Shell People seemed able to accept this accelerated information as well.

Because of the constant overlapping of virtual images, the later scenes became particularly long, so the mirage vapor seemed to keep accelerating, allowing the descendant Shell People to master more information in limited time.

There was no way to clear away all these shells covering the ground. As long as these shell fragments continued to exist, there would always be Shell People attacking Oasis City.

A wisp of faint mist drifted from the edges of the shattered shells, mixing into the surrounding water vapor.

At the same time, a leader would emerge among this group of descendant Shell People, responsible for organizing the other Shell People.

Who could have thought that these creatures were just at odds with humanity, not even hesitating to sacrifice so many generations of Shell People lives.

“Why do they do this? Is their god being trapped related to them attacking humans?” Li Xiangyi asked in confusion.

This was also a question everyone wanted to know, but unfortunately the virtual images were too distant, becoming overly blurred under constant overlapping recreations, even the god’s appearance couldn’t be seen clearly.

The conversations between the Shell People and their god were also vague and unclear.

Could it be that humans had trapped their god?

“Has Oasis City ever imprisoned any creatures?” Li Luo asked Old Xu.

Hearing Li Luo’s question, Old Xu thought for a moment and answered helplessly, “There have been quite a few.”

Oasis City, having developed to its current state, had certainly captured many surrounding creatures, whether from within the oasis or the surrounding desert, mostly for research purposes.

But Old Xu shook his head again, “However, the Shell People attacks started very early, when Oasis City was just a small monitoring station without resources to imprison any creatures.”

Looking at the virtual images still recreating around them, Old Xu sighed, “These Shell People descendants probably don’t know why they need to attack humans now, but they’re still following their ancestors’ words.”

Each generation of Shell People would eventually produce a “leader” who would lead their companions to attack the outsiders.

They surged toward Oasis City one after another, generation after generation of Shell People born in the graveyard and dying in the graveyard, all these years for just one purpose—to rescue their god.

But they didn’t know whether their actions had any meaning.

Truly tragic.

The surrounding virtual images became increasingly real, becoming indistinguishable from reality. Mo Ling could even see the dust on the Shell People’s bodies clearly.

The mirage vapor’s recreation effect was very strong. When his vision penetrated into these Shell People’s bodies, he could clearly see all the internal organs.

Not only could he see them, but the Shell People’s voices and fishy smell could also be recreated.

This was comprehensive recreation, aside from being unable to touch them, there was no difference from reality.

“This should be the most recent generations of Shell People,” Mo Ling thought.

Sure enough, after experiencing several more virtual image recreations, the surroundings fell into silence.

Before long, everything around began collapsing, rainbow lights reappeared, beginning to fade and dissipate.

“It’s about to end,” everyone noticed the changes around them.

The collapse was very fast, and those rainbow lights quickly disappeared.

Old Xu picked up a shell fragment. The mirage vapor rising from it was almost exhausted, intermittent.

But the surrounding shell striking sounds hadn’t disappeared, occasional sounds still came from beyond the edge of the light band’s illumination.

Old Xu looked toward the distance in confusion, suddenly sensing something. He asked the two beside him, “Do you have any means to escape from encirclement?”

Hearing this, both looked confused.

Old Xu had to continue explaining, “Light not only triggers mirage vapor but also allows Shell People descendants to be reborn. Right now there are many newborn Shell People around us, they might have been mixed in with those virtual images just now.”

“Although born in light, Shell People are actually light-avoiding creatures. They hid in darkness before the virtual images ended and might be watching us from somewhere now.”

Old Xu’s words surprised both of them, but he quickly began comforting them, “The danger level here is still very low, meaning nothing dangerous will happen. I guess you have some escape methods, right?”

He confidently looked Li Luo and Li Xiangyi up and down.

Mo Ling had been dazed when he heard Old Xu’s words, but thinking it over, wasn’t the Cube now considered an “escape method”?

“Could he be talking about me?”
