“That’s how I became a fugitive,” Martin said helplessly. “If I had surrendered directly at the time, maybe I wouldn’t have been wanted, but my mind was completely muddled then, I’d lost all reason.”

Mo Ling was also shocked by his experience.

“What was that button you used to escape? Being able to take someone so far away, isn’t that a very powerful Relic? Why would it be casually placed in a Relic warehouse?”

Martin thought for a moment and answered, “That thing is called the ‘Earth Emergency Stop Button.’ As long as you pay a bit of blood scab, it lets you experience the feeling of Earth’s rotation stopping.”

“Earth’s rotation stopping?” Mo Ling was even more confused.

“Yes, but its actual function is to make the user stationary relative to Earth, breaking free from Earth’s rotation. By the time Earth had turned, I was already in Bangkok,” Martin explained.

Mo Ling instantly understood, that thing didn’t stop Earth’s rotation at all, but rather stopped the user.

“I learned later that there are actually two of these buttons. The other one makes the user experience the feeling of Earth’s orbital motion stopping, which would fling the user directly into space. Generally, no one survives that.”

“Both of these Relics are traps. The position where rotation-stop flings you is very unpredictable. I was quite lucky to end up in a safe place,” Martin spread his hands. “That’s why they were stored in the warehouse.”

What a coincidence, his escape route seemed to have been planned out in advance by some mysterious force.

“Afterward, I followed the formula that ‘Martin’ told me, completed the blood replacement, and three years later fulfilled the promise, continuing to pass on the flame. Of course, this had nothing to do with my being wanted anymore,” Martin said matter-of-factly.

But Mo Ling was quite curious.

“What does that formula do?”

Martin didn’t intend to hide it. He removed his hood, and his empty model-like appearance suddenly refreshed as if updated, a kimchi jar appeared on his head.

Not only that, kimchi kept appearing inside the jar, like a machine that could repeatedly produce kimchi.

Some thin, colorful tentacles appeared out of thin air in the jar. Each time they appeared, they would hook away some kimchi and roll it into the void.

When these colorful tentacles noticed the hood had been removed and a cube-person had appeared outside the glass jar, they crowded to the edge of the jar to curiously examine him.

They twisted toward Mo Ling a few times, as if greeting him, then went back to rolling up kimchi.

“That blood replacement turned my head into a kimchi perpetual motion machine, granting me the ability to traverse between different dream layers, as well as the power to become intangible in reality,” Martin explained, pointing to his head.

“Not only that, the blood replacement also refreshed my ability. Originally, I could only use my ability once on each blood replacement subject, but that blood replacement included materials from my own body.”

“I later researched and figured out that as long as I add materials from my body to each blood replacement, I can keep using blood replacement on myself, refreshing each time.”

Mo Ling was shocked. Martin truly was a genius, his development of his own abilities had reached an unimaginable level.

“Why did you bring me into the dream?” Mo Ling asked seriously.

Hearing this, Martin repeated the same question from the beginning:

“Can you trust me?”

This time Mo Ling didn’t hesitate. Martin had already told him many things without reservation. He answered decisively, “I can.”

After hearing Mo Ling’s answer, happy laughter came from Martin’s glass jar head.

“I want you to help me with a favor, help me save someone.”

“Who?”

“Martin.”

……

“Hold on to me. The Black Tower’s blockade has ended, I can really show my skills now!”

Martin gripped Mo Ling’s hand and said excitedly.

Accompanying his words, the kimchi in his glass jar head suddenly began accelerating in production, expanding like foam, and those colorful tentacles became more active.

They writhed, suddenly accelerating their kimchi-rolling speed. The rapidly expanding kimchi had just filled the entire kimchi jar when the tentacles swept it all away.

Colorful pixel dots of light appeared from the glass jar, falling like raindrops, passing through the jar bottom and scattering on Martin’s body.

Each pixel dot of light that touched Martin’s body slowly spread and continued extending. Martin’s figure also gradually became blurred.

“Here it comes!”

Suddenly, Martin’s figure instantly became clear, while the surrounding environment seemed to reverse, taking on the colorful appearance that had originally been on Martin’s body.

The colors alternated.

In just an instant, when the surrounding colors returned to normal, Martin had brought Mo Ling to the interior of a simple room, while the colors on his body slowly retreated back into the glass jar.

“Where is this?” Mo Ling asked quietly.

Martin just made a “shh” gesture toward him.

“Wait here for me. I don’t need you here yet.”

After saying this, he pushed open the room door and walked out. Mo Ling stood behind the door, wanting to see what Martin intended to do.

This was an office-like room, with various electronic equipment and materials piled everywhere.

A young man in a white lab coat with stubble was lying on a chair, with an empty glass jar behind his head, Dream Cult black hole flyers beside him, and blood still dripping from his finger.

This was Martin!

Mo Ling suddenly understood, this was a research institute on some unknown dream layer, where this Martin had just entered the dream.

Could this be a layer higher than reality?

Counting the time, fifty years had passed since the Great Cataclysm, yet this young Martin had only just entered the dream.

“Which layer is this exactly?” Mo Ling didn’t understand dream time calculations and could only continue watching.

The young man lying on the chair slowly opened his eyes, but they were very dull. He didn’t get up from the chair but continued lying there quietly.

What was he doing?

This didn’t seem to match what Martin had said before.

As Mo Ling wondered, the young man finally stood up unsteadily, completely ignoring Martin beside hi, —it seemed Martin had hidden himself.

The young man raised both hands and examined them in confusion, as if not understanding his situation.

The blood dripping from his fingertips also caught his attention, but he was very puzzled, seeming not to understand where his wound came from.

He didn’t speak, just stared blankly at his finger.

Then he began looking around, his expression growing more confused.

After a while, he slowly walked to one side and came to a mirror.

“Shouldn’t he be checking data? What’s he doing?” Mo Ling noticed this layer’s “Martin” was very wrong.

The young man came to the mirror and touched his stubble, frowning deeply.

He kept turning his head, examining his face as if he’d never seen it before.

His expression changed from confusion to surprise, with a hint of disbelief.

Then, the young man’s muttering struck like thunder:

“Did I transmigrate?”
