“It’s almost over.”

The World of Sound was dying quickly, and the surroundings began to fall into complete silence, with only Martin’s faint narration coming through his arm.

The light around them had vanished, leaving them unable to see their hands in front of their faces—this was absolute darkness.

Mo Ling’s nonexistent ears could only hear the “buzzing” tinnitus in the silence, which was very pronounced in the dark environment.

There was no difference between opening and closing his eyes—all he saw was endless darkness.

“Close your eyes. When you open them in a moment, remember to be careful—it might be too bright,” Martin instructed.

Mo Ling obediently closed his eyes.

Martin began counting down silently.

“Ten.”

“Nine.”

“Eight.”

“……”

“Three.”

“Two.”

“One.”

Mo Ling felt threads of light, and when he opened his eyes, he was standing inside the metal walls as if nothing had happened.

Martin beside him had disappeared. He was now standing far away outside the Cube, his mouth open as if about to say something.

The purple crystal was nowhere to be seen. Bai Zhou and Li Luo stood nearby in confusion, both looking toward Martin.

“What just happened?”

The two of them had also been pulled into the World of Sound, but not knowing the location of the purple tower, they had each wandered around for a while, then saw the world collapsing, and returned to reality in confusion.

Martin explained the cause to them, taking credit for eliminating the Core, seemingly helping to cover for Mo Ling.

After hearing Martin’s explanation, Bai Zhou breathed a sigh of relief. “So that’s what it was. I thought I’d been swallowed by my own Leviathan. I felt everything around me disappearing.”

“You’ve been swallowed by Leviathan before?” Martin was surprised.

“Yes.”

At this, Bai Zhou recounted his experience of dubious authenticity, not forgetting to praise Martin for doing well.

Afterward, Martin told Bai Zhou that the Core was a Siren, which made him quite happy to hear.

“Sirens aren’t benevolent creatures. If it weren’t for mermen being immune to their temptation, mermen might be on their menu too. It’s better to eliminate such creatures sooner rather than later.”

The two conversed, no longer maintaining their initial mutual wariness.

Li Luo came to the Cube’s side, carefully examining it and quietly asking with concern, “Are you alright?”

“Of course I’m fine.”

It was just that this journey had been truly shocking.

After everyone had recovered from this bizarre journey, Martin suggested they go check on those distorted Robed Figures.

Going up the stairs, this chapel made of sound hadn’t disappeared—it was just like when they’d arrived.

The group slowly walked out of the chapel, only to discover the Robed Figures lying scattered on the ground outside.

Bai Zhou hurried forward to examine them.

“Cardiac arrest.”

He turned a Robed Figure over, checking various parts of the body, and quickly reached a conclusion.

Then he took out his camera and began explaining.

“Hello everyone, I’m Bai Zhou, an intern doctor at the Black Tower.”

“The source of the Black Tower’s distortion has now been resolved, but all the subjects of distortion have died, preliminarily determined to be from cardiac arrest.”

He took out a surgical knife and, ignoring everyone around him, began performing autopsies on the spot.

“The abnormal organs in the brain and heart areas have all disappeared. The presumed cause of death is cardiac arrest caused by the absence of abnormal organs in the heart area.”

Bai Zhou had Li Luo help hold the camera while he autopsied several Robed Figure corpses in succession, getting the same results each time.

Neither of their faces showed joy or sorrow—this result wasn’t too good.

The best outcome would have been for everyone in the Black Tower to return to normal, but that seemed unlikely. Reversing and curing this kind of organic distortion was very difficult.

When the distortion disappeared, what followed were unknown consequences from missing organs, and for these Robed Figures, the only outcome was death.

Bai Zhou removed his gloves, covered the autopsied corpses with robes, his face full of regret.

“All the humans affected by distortion in the entire Black Tower should have died from the same cause.”

He looked at Li Luo, who silently turned off the camera.

Bai Zhou was very dejected, lamenting, “As a doctor, I couldn’t save even one patient.”

Looking at the bodies scattered throughout the castle corridors, Bai Zhou’s hands trembled uncontrollably.

“Humans are just too fragile,” he sighed. “If only you could all be immune to various distortions like mermen.”

Seeing this scene, Martin walked forward and patted his shoulder. “You did your best. There’s nothing anyone could do about this. These people were already dead when they were distorted—just think of them all as monsters.”

He was quite calm about it, taking it in stride. From the beginning, Martin had never considered these Robed Figures human, or he wouldn’t have directly helped the Core accelerate the correction plan.

“In the Abyss, you must constantly face death and distortion. Humans are the purest form of life—this is both our strength and our weakness.”

“Perhaps long ago, humans were already facing all kinds of distortions, influenced by those powerful Relics and creatures.”

“None of that matters. Humans excel at turning these influences into tools we can use, and it’s precisely because we use these tools that civilization has flourished.”

“But one thing will never change—when you become an enemy of the entire human species, you lose the right to be human.”

Martin spoke slowly, seeming to have deep understanding of this.

“Are you trying to complete an animation?” he suddenly asked Bai Zhou.

Bai Zhou looked at him in surprise and nodded.

“Let me help you.”

Martin led Bai Zhou to an open space in front of the castle, then had Bai Zhou take out his camera and point it at the sky.

“Where should we start?” Martin asked.

Bai Zhou took out his electronic screen and showed Martin the latest section.

Martin nodded. “Then next should be the situation in the Robed Figure village.”

“First, the scene.”

Martin hummed a song toward the sky, and a cartoon-style model Black Tower appeared in the air.

He pointed with his hand, and the Black Tower slowly enlarged, with the view focusing on the Robed Figure village.

Accompanied by the song, cartoon Robed Figures appeared moving about in the village, beginning to move while being painted in bright colors.

Next came those bizarre blood exchange rituals, which looked very unsettling under the cartoon model’s interpretation. Martin even added pages from the ritual book as supplementary content.

A Robed Figure’s ritual succeeded, his body changed, and he entered Black Tower City.

When reaching the cartoon Black Tower City, the view changed again, coming to the Core in the cave.

Next was the Core’s story—the reason he distorted the entire Black Tower was clearly expressed under Martin’s model.

Finally, the scene came to the World of Sound, the Core’s death, and the world’s annihilation.

In pitch darkness, this animation also came to an end.
