Without energy injection, all worlds would move toward heat death.

When the creator disappears, the world begins marching toward death. The death process is just longer or shorter—worlds with stable foundations take a bit longer.

But shoddy worlds like the World of Sound would be destroyed very quickly, as evidenced by those constantly decomposing things.

“They don’t even have the stage of uniform foundation distribution,” Martin said with emotion, watching the accelerating collapse of the World of Sound.

Soon, everything visible began to become completely void, even the ground and ocean turned into drifting sounds.

Not only that, Mo Ling felt his body becoming light and airy. With a push of his legs, he was actually standing in the air.

“Gravity has also turned into sound,” Martin was also floating in the air.

The light around them grew dim, everything that existed was constantly fading, becoming pitch black.

“Visible light is disappearing. Hold on to me,” Martin gripped Mo Ling’s hand tightly.

In the darkness, only sound was crystal clear—this was the only thing in this world that wouldn’t disappear, and also the foundation of this world.

Mo Ling’s heart was tremendously shaken.

“Without a medium, how can sound exist?” he couldn’t help but ask. His weak voice, accompanied by chaotic sound waves, scattered in all directions, not traveling far before becoming confused.

When most of the air had also disappeared, even sound transmission became difficult.

This was also Mo Ling’s question, sound is actually the vibration of objects. Without sound sources or medium, where does sound come from?

Martin’s answer came through their connected hands: “This world is built on the foundation of our world. The sounds also come from that side. Even if this world disappears, these sounds still exist.”

“We don’t belong here either and don’t need anything from here. Look, do you still need to breathe?”

Mo Ling immediately understood. These sounds existed at a higher dimension than this world and didn’t need to depend on anything to exist.

The surroundings grew increasingly dark and quiet, making the touch sensation in Mo Ling’s hand incredibly acute.

A tremendous fear arose in his heart.

“Will our world also be like this? Eventually moving toward death.”

It was too quiet here, so Mo Ling could only chat with Martin.

“No, the creator of our world is still there. Haven’t you noticed that the energy of those Relics is endless?”

That was true, but did the creator really exist?

Just then, Mo Ling suddenly remembered Martin’s earlier promise.

“Can you tell me now what the foundation of our world is made of?”

After asking this question, Mo Ling felt Martin’s hand tighten.

“What’s wrong?”

“Nothing…”

Martin was silent for a long time, seemingly unwilling to tell Mo Ling.

“If you don’t want to say, that’s fine too.” Mo Ling hadn’t even figured out why he came to this world.

If these worlds were all created, then maybe he could return to his previous world too.

Martin’s tightly gripped hand slowly relaxed, and his voice gradually came through his arm:

“I promised you, so I’ll tell you. Don’t worry.”

“You can believe it or not treat it as a joke, but knowing this might come with some cost. Are you willing?”

Martin was unusually serious.

Mo Ling paused, then still answered, “I’m willing.”

He was already trapped in a cube, what cost could he fear?

“When you know the truth about the world, it also means you’ll soon bear a certain responsibility. This cannot be escaped. Are you still willing?”

The more Martin spoke like this, the more curious Mo Ling became.

“I’m willing.”

When he answered this, Mo Ling felt Martin’s hand grip tightly again, even trembling slightly, as if unable to suppress inner joy.

Faint laughter came through.

“Good! Everything I’m about to say, you must remember well!”

“……”

“The thing that forms the foundation of our world is a book!”

Martin spoke astonishingly, then continued eloquently, “The creator used a book to form the foundation of our world, then used that foundation to build our world!”

Mo Ling immediately laughed in anger.

“Isn’t that the theory of the Dream Cult?”

After hearing Mo Ling’s teasing, Martin denied it, “They’re just a bunch of cowards. After learning the truth about the world, they only know how to escape, hiding in the depths of dreams is just self-deception. It would be very simple for the creator to find them, he just doesn’t have the inclination to look.”

He seemed very indignant about the Dream Cult’s behavior, constantly attacking their actions.

“Dreams are a way to glimpse the essence of the world. Their leader accidentally discovered this, but took a group of people trying to escape.”

“You should have seen the data on the Dream Relic, right? Otherwise you wouldn’t know about the Dream Cult.”

“Of course,” Mo Ling admitted.

Martin continued explaining. After discovering Mo Ling didn’t believe him, he wasn’t angry but patiently educated Mo Ling.

“Do you know why the cost of Dream is 500 grams of Korean kimchi in a glass jar? And why it can keep deepening? It’s because the dream depth the creator set for us is 500.”

Martin told Mo Ling about the little, known history of the Dream Cult.

……

The Dream Cult leader was the first person to discover Dream.

He had specifically trained his lucid dreaming abilities. After entering dreams, he could quickly realize he was dreaming and could wake up at will.

But initially, the leader didn’t spread Dream or create the Dream Cult. Instead, he entered dreams to do all sorts of strange things.

He did whatever he wanted in dreams, and whenever he was about to be caught, he would quickly wake up.

The leader treated dreams as his paradise and found ways to enter the next layer of dreams.

He would often go into deep dream layers, then begin committing crimes, then keep waking up until finally returning to reality.

As long as he didn’t commit crimes in reality, he remained a law-abiding citizen.

As the influence of the Cataclysm gradually expanded, the leader realized that the Dream he had discovered might be a Relic.

He didn’t plan to tell anyone about this. Whatever changes happened to the world had nothing to do with him.

How could reality be as fun as dreaming?

Constantly sleeping, dreaming, and waking became his daily routine. He hoarded a huge pile of canned kimchi at home and even bought lots of sleep aids.

Soon, his savings were spent.

While he was powerful in dreams, he remained poor in reality.

Without the help of medication, having gotten enough sleep, it was difficult for him to fall asleep again. He could only enter deeper dream layers each time he slept.

As long as he entered deep enough dreams, he would have enough time to vent his desires.

However, once, during constant dream layer changes, he suddenly forgot which layer he was on.

“How much kimchi did I put in last time?”

“Was it 519? No.”

“Maybe 521?”

“Forget it, doesn’t matter.”

……

Finally, he made a decision:

“I’ll just keep waking up. Who cares how many layers there are.”
