“So she wasn’t truly disgusted by me.”

The Core remained calm, his tone never changing, just as simple as when he was born.

“Thank you,” the Core thanked Martin again.

“If you really want to thank me, let me out of the Black Tower, and him too,” Martin said, pointing at Mo Ling.

“I cannot. Only when the correction plan is complete will she come to find me,” the Core insisted. “I will wrap myself even more tightly, so she won’t feel disgusted.”

Martin could no longer suppress his anger and raged, “How can you be so stubborn? What if she’s dead? Then wouldn’t everything you’ve done be for nothing? She was just a little kind to you, is doing all this for her really worth it?”

“It’s worth it.”

“……”

The Core’s single sentence left Martin speechless, frozen in place.

These Abyssal creatures were just like this, unreasonable, no matter how much you tried to communicate with them.

“This is the body you’ve possessed, right? We can kill you right now. Aren’t you afraid?” Martin threatened.

“You cannot kill me. I can create other bodies. Sound is immortal.”

Hearing the Core’s words, Martin clenched his fists, but there was nothing he could do, he truly had no means to kill sound itself.

“Let me try,” Mo Ling stepped forward and said to Martin.

Even if he couldn’t kill the sound, he could trap the Core in the Cube, preventing it from controlling the Black Tower.

After the Black Tower’s distortion was lifted, he could release it.

“No matter what, we can’t just sit here and wait for death.”

Fortunately, the Core’s true body wasn’t large, the Cube could just fit it, though it would require some precise operation.

Suppressing his own disgust, Mo Ling aimed the teleportation frame at the stone floating in the air, then activated it. The Core in the sky instantly vanished.

“Did it work?”

Complete silence.

Seeing the stone disappear, Martin carefully asked, “Core, are you still there?”

The voice that always answered every question didn’t appear. Martin quickly asked several more questions, but got no response.

The Core had disappeared.

Mo Ling carefully let his vision penetrate into the Cube. There was an ugly stone lying on the metal floor, unremarkable, just like the boulders you could see anywhere in the Black Tower.

That disgusting feeling had vanished. Looking at this stone now no longer produced revulsion.

Just as Mo Ling was about to leave first, a shout slowly drifted out from the stone.

At first it was just a weak sound, then gradually grew louder, beginning to repeat continuously. Mo Ling could gradually hear it clearly.

It was a sentence…

A very simple sentence.

“Is anyone there!”

This was Mo Ling’s own voice!

Mo Ling’s hair instantly stood on end. He couldn’t be wrong—this was his own voice!

The voice sounded very urgent, as if he were calling for help.

“Why is my cry for help coming from inside the Core’s body?”

Mo Ling carefully confirmed again, ruling out every possibility.

The voice kept echoing, continuously striking at Mo Ling’s heart.

“All sounds have meaning, all have sources, but the Core’s true body is actually my own cry for help!”

His mind was now completely blank, with only that constantly echoing voice.

Even after the voice weakened and faded, Mo Ling couldn’t forget it.

The stone lay quietly on the metal floor, completely silent.

……

Martin’s inquiry interrupted Mo Ling’s thoughts. “What happened?”

Only then did Mo Ling come to his senses, his thoughts returning to reality, and he quickly shook his head.

“It looks like you really did kill him. This place has already begun to collapse,” Martin said, pointing at the dissolving stones around them.

The purple crystal blocks on the ground were slowly cracking apart, turning into dispersing syllables, making the entire cave very noisy.

The same repetitive strange sounds echoed in the cave, and the ground began to ripple like liquid.

“Let me take you to a safe place first. When this world collapses to a certain degree, we’ll return to the original world.”

Martin grabbed Mo Ling’s hand and continued to phase through space. The scenery around them shifted, and they quickly arrived at the top of the tower, overlooking the entire World of Sound.

The purple tower melted like ice, its surface sliding downward like a candle. Mo Ling also felt his altitude slowly decreasing.

Everything in the distance began to collapse in various ways, chaotic sounds emanating from these collapsing objects.

Trees began to expand, exploding like balloons. Animals began to slowly fold, becoming small clusters before vanishing into thin air. The forms of all these things were changing in a bizarre direction.

“I didn’t expect you could actually kill the Core,” Martin said, watching the changes in this world with amazement.

“I don’t know if I really killed him,” Mo Ling was still thinking about that strange cry for help. Everything was too bizarre.

“You definitely killed him. This world is collapsing because the power source maintaining the foundation has dissipated,” Martin explained.

“By the way, where did you put his body?”

That ugly stone?

Only then did Mo Ling remember there was still a boulder in the Cube, so he carefully threw the stone onto the tower’s top.

The nauseating feeling from the black stone had completely disappeared. After Martin glanced at it, he said with certainty, “He’s definitely dead.”

Sure enough, before long, this stone also began to dissolve, turning into simple syllables that drifted away.

Martin listened to the sound and confirmed, “That’s right, there are no other sounds mixed in.”

He curiously asked Mo Ling, “Did you strip away the Core? What sound was his true body?”

Mo Ling didn’t know how to answer. Could he say it was his own cry for help?

He could only shake his head, indicating he wasn’t clear about it.

But Martin didn’t press further, even helping Mo Ling cover, “It’s normal that you don’t know. It was probably some meaningless sound.”

Mo Ling quickly nodded.

The changes around them became even more violent. Even the clouds in the sky began to shatter like glass, with glittering fragments falling from above.

Even the air showed cracks like lightning, spreading everywhere, causing fierce winds wherever they went.

“The collapse of a world is actually this simple,” Mo Ling couldn’t help but sigh.

“This world is too shoddy. Without a foundation, this phenomenon occurs,” Martin explained.

“What if there were a foundation?” Mo Ling pressed.

“With a foundation, the changes wouldn’t be this violent. There would be a process where the entire world slowly moves from order to disorder.”

“First, objects composed of foundation stones would slowly decompose back into foundation stones, then the foundation stones would spread throughout the world, flowing from areas of high density to areas of low density.”

A word suddenly appeared in Mo Ling’s mind—entropy increase.

And Martin’s explanation completely matched Mo Ling’s imagination.

“When the creator no longer injects energy into the entire world, this world becomes an isolated system. The world’s entropy increases with the passage of time, changing from order to disorder, finally reaching heat death.”
