I'm Done Playing the Lovesick Supporting Role - Chapter 309.1
When Gu Jingyu approached, Qi Mu was covered in injuries, though his friend seemed mostly unharmed aside from a few minor bruises. Gu Jingyu sighed, then carried Qi Mu once again to the hospital.
After quickly registering him for readmission, Qi Mu was coincidentally placed in the same ward as yesterday.
The nurse, upon seeing Qi Mu, didn’t seem surprised. With campus bullying being so common, cases like his—students with mostly minor injuries—were frequent. The most absurd record was of a student who was discharged eight times in ten days, only to be readmitted repeatedly.
The doctor prescribed some medicine for Qi Mu’s bruises and massaged the more severe contusions before settling him back into bed.
Qi Mu appeared embarrassed. Every time he encountered Gu Jingyu, it seemed to be under humiliating circumstances.
His friend, meanwhile, retrieved the prescribed medicine from the hospital pharmacy and then left.
“Qi Mu, take a good rest here. I have class this afternoon. I’ll bring you my notes later,” the friend said.
Qi Mu nodded. He was long used to such things.
Gu Jingyu and Qi Mu were both naturally reserved, so a long silence stretched between them.
Finally, Qi Mu broke the stillness. “Professor, why do you think this happens?”
He didn’t elaborate, but it was clear what he meant.
Why are some people born to be bullied? All he wanted was to live a quiet, unremarkable life—finish university, find an ordinary job, and muddle through his years unnoticed.
But his very birth, and everything he had experienced since, made it clear that such a life was impossible for him.
Gu Jingyu sighed softly. Should he do something?
