Chapter 92: Victoria

***

His footsteps gradually faded away, and after a while, the faint sound of a door closing came from downstairs.

The room fell quiet.

That annoying guy finally left!

I hurriedly ran into the bedroom’s bathroom to use the toilet. After finishing, I stood by the bed in a daze for a while, then crouched down to open the suitcase and began organizing the items inside.

Most of them were clothes, dresses… whatever, I’ll just stuff them all into the wardrobe for now.

Other daily necessities… comb, hair tie, what’s this… face cream? Foundation? Why did I bring this too? This manly man is naturally beautiful and doesn’t need this stuff… anyway, I’ll put it on the dressing table for now…

This is a bath towel, I think. And a bristle toothbrush… spices? What are these for, bathing?… This is mouthwash… I’ll put all these in the washroom.

Next there are sanitary belts… undershirts, corsets… the sizes are so small, I can’t bear to look… these intimate privacy items… let me see, I’ll hide them in the bottom drawer of the wardrobe… Carlos shouldn’t go through them randomly, right?

If he dares to rummage through them, I’ll tear his ** right off.

After finishing all this, the sky had already grown dim.

The fatigue from the long journey surged up, and I collapsed onto the soft bed. I originally wanted to rest a bit and wait for Carlos to return, but before I knew it, I had fallen asleep.

Time passed, I don’t know how long. In my hazy state, singing drifted over.

“Take me… up to the moon…”

“Let me sing… forever…”

I sat up, groggily rubbing my eyes, then looked up toward the window.

The night was intoxicatingly dark.

Stars dotted the sky like jewels, shining with the silver-cold radiance of the Milky Way.

“Please hold my hand… sing loudly in spring…”

That singing voice seemed distant yet near, like a trickling stream of bossa nova, the gentle and ethereal female voice seeping into my ears, singing into my heart.

So beautiful… it seems to be coming from next door?

Who could be singing this late… it really sounds so good, but… I don’t know why, even though it’s such a light and cheerful melody, why… does it sound somewhat sad…

I unconsciously opened the window.

“I want to break free from this worldly cage… frolic freely among the stars… let no one find me… let no one…”

The singing became slightly clearer, the heart-stirring melody without any accompaniment, like a girl’s quiet whisper in the dead of night, making my heart tingle. If my senses weren’t particularly sharp, I might have missed this beautiful voice.

I closed my eyes and listened for a while, but felt it was still too far away, not clear enough. So I stepped onto the outer window ledge, looked up at the height of the roof, then leaped up suddenly.

“My beloved God… please fulfill my insignificant wish… take me up to the moon…”

The singing was indeed coming from next door… I shouldn’t disturb them, let me quietly take a look.

Having made up my mind, I crouched and walked to the edge of the roof, tilted my head to think, then nodded to myself.

The distance to the opposite roof isn’t particularly far… I’ll just jump over.

Taking a deep breath, I stepped back two paces, then suddenly pushed off with my feet and dove forward in a crouch.

Moon Step.

Whoosh—

The petite figure leaped high into the air, silently tracing an arc under the moonlight. As I began to fall, my palms shot out two puffs of white mist with a “puff puff” sound, my falling speed suddenly slowed, and then with a “pat” sound, I landed lightly on the roof of the neighboring mansion.

Safe landing!

Using Moon Step to jump for the first time, I didn’t expect it to go so smoothly… I quickly crouched down and looked back, discovering that this jump had actually covered nearly 20 meters.

Feeling a bit nervous, I shrank my shoulders and stuck out my little tongue… fortunately I didn’t make any particularly obvious noise, I probably wasn’t discovered, right?

“Fill my heart with song… take me up to the moon…”

Hearing that the singing continued, I patted my small chest in relief and quietly took two steps forward.

The singing is coming from the courtyard, but where is the person…

Continuing to crouch, I tiptoed across the roof, my pair of dark eyes darting around, trying to find the source of the singing.

A gentle breeze brushed across my face.

The courtyard was lit with lamps, their flickering light making the green lawn appear somewhat yellow. Not far away was a stone pavilion for resting, with what appeared to be red wine and fruit plates on the blue circular table inside. Several neatly arranged rocking chairs surrounded it, and I could see one of them swaying back and forth under the lamplight — but couldn’t see the person who should be sitting on it.

At the same time, the singing stopped abruptly.

…What’s going on, where’s the person?

The wind seemed to blow a bit stronger, lifting my hair.

An ominous feeling rose in my heart, and I began to step backward.

Something’s not right… better get out of here quick.

The next moment, a low male voice exploded like muffled thunder beside my ear.

“…Let me see, what little mouse do we have here?”

“Eeeek—!!”

This nearly scared my soul out of my body. Like a startled cat with its fur standing on end, I suddenly jumped up and reflexively threw a straight punch behind me.

Whoosh—

The figure quickly retreated, dodging my attack by the skin of his teeth with apparent ease, and spoke in a rather relaxed tone: “Oh my, seems to be a little miss…”

My heart still pounding, I opened my eyes wide and looked carefully. A green-haired man was now standing less than 5 steps away from me, his face buried in dark shadows, making his features unclear. He wore a well-tailored formal suit, and I could vaguely see an elegant emblem embroidered on his shoulder, the pattern seemed to be… an unsheathed sword? It looked somewhat familiar…

How did he get so close to me…

Crack crack crack—

The Extreme Ice Short Scythe rapidly condensed in my hand, gleaming with a frightening cold light in the night.

“Oh my, Frost Order! So scary, so scary~”

The green-haired man patted his chest upon seeing this, but his tone was clearly mocking.

“Who are you?”

“Shouldn’t we be the ones asking that question, little miss?”

Another voice came from the darkness, and I whipped my head around.

In the courtyard, a woman who had appeared at some unknown time was looking up at me… the expression on her face seemed to be smiling.

“Little miss, are you perhaps lost?”

“Haha, getting lost and ending up here is quite cute.”

Yet another new voice… from the right side, but I couldn’t see anyone.

“Little miss, do you know who lives here?”

“She must know to have come here, right?”

“That makes sense…”

“It’s been so long since anyone dared to infiltrate here, how exciting…”

“Speak up, who sent you.”

Multiple voices rang out from the darkness on all sides.

I frowned and remained alert, then slowly raised both hands.

“I have no ill intent. I just heard singing and wanted to take a look.”

“Ahaha, this little one thinks she can fool us.”

“Shut up, don’t laugh so loudly in my ear.”

“Hey. Stop wasting time, let’s just kill her?”

“Don’t rush, let’s get things clear first.”

…They’re quite noisy.

“I really just thought the song was beautiful.” Slowly crouching down, I gently placed the short scythe in my hand on the ground. “I’m a neighbor who lives next door.”

“…Did you hear what this little one said?”

“She said she lives next door, haha!”

“Who lives next door again?”

“I think it’s been empty for a long time… wait, I remember Her Majesty the Queen sold it to the church some time ago…”

“Little miss, are you from the church?”

I nodded.

“I am. I just arrived today, a Pontifical Knight.”

“Hey hey, no way?”

“A Pontifical Knight? Such a young girl?”

Suddenly, a voice came from the sky above.

“Sylvia?”

!!!!

My heart jolted violently, and I quickly looked up.

The bright moon was pure as ice.

The sky was illuminated as if shrouded in mist.

Dimly visible, a golden-haired woman stood suspended in air, her dress hem dancing without wind. Under the silvery veil-like radiance, her slender figure was like a proud white lotus standing on a mountain peak, solemnly reflected in my pupils.

Just like in the song, she had flown up to the moon.

I couldn’t help but swallow.

“You are…”

“Victoria.”

That voice was as clear as a mountain spring.
