- Chapter 5 - The Stream Featuring a Cat Merchant from the Republic
“Ahhh, the sun felt so good~”
For a while after the crafting stream, I’d been fully enjoying a leisurely Slow Life. Thanks to that stream, comments like “‘Alkemy’ wasn’t really an alchemist” had significantly decreased. Plus, delivering the Magical Stove to the tavern owner who requested it brought in some income. My pockets were feeling quite full right then, which gave me some breathing room.
Fundamentally, for me, both ‘streaming’ and ‘alchemy’ were hobbies, not jobs. The most important thing was spending my days happily and peacefully.
In other words, easygoing days. A Slow Life was what mattered most to me.
Streaming, alchemy—I only did them when I felt like it. That was my way of life, the way of Susuria, also known as ‘Alkemy.’
“Hmm, hadn’t streamed in about three days now~”
Still, I figured it was probably about time I did something.
My channel had always advertised irregular streams, and the long-time viewers were fine with that. But the newcomers, who likely joined after seeing that yuri-bait-ish stream, seemed to want more frequent content. Just the other day, I even got a direct message saying something like, “Please do a stream properly showing your alchemy! Especially make sure to clearly show the magical enchanting part, I implore you!”
“Alright, guess I’ll do a chatting stream today.”
Stretching with a groan to psych myself up, I figured it was about lunchtime and turned to head back home—
“Excuse meow! You there! Could I ask for directions, nyaa?!”
—Hearing a voice from above, I had a strong feeling that today was going to be another eventful one.

“A pleasure to meet you, nyaa, citizen of the Kingdom of Landria. My name is Scottish, nyaa. I’m a merchant from the Dorast Merchant Company of the Shunkatou Republic, nyaa.”
—-Twitch, twitch!
As she bowed, the cat ears atop her head twitched, and I couldn’t help but blurt out, “Cute…”
—-Beastkin. As the name suggested, they were a race possessing animal characteristics. Judging by the cat ears and the happily swishing tail of the merchant introducing herself as Scottish, she was likely a cat beastkin.
Beastkin possessed the racial ability to communicate with animals. Apparently, her affiliated Dorast Merchant Company had prospered by using dragons—yes, those magical beasts that soared freely through the skies—as a means of aerial transport. I couldn’t hide my surprise that she had come all the way to another country, the Kingdom of Landria, and that the person she was looking for was, unbelievably, me.
“Nyah-nyah?! Y-You’re actually Ms. ‘Alkemy’ herself?! I can’t believe I found you so quickly, nyaa!”
“Whoa, calm down. Let’s talk inside, okay?”
…And so, that was how I ended up welcoming Scottish, the cat beastkin merchant woman, into my home.
“Welcome, all the way from the Shunkatou Republic. Thank you for coming such a long way.”
“Nyaa-ah, thank you, nyaa! You must be the golem Beta-chan from the videos, nyaa? Seeing you in person, the intricacy of your construction is even more apparent, nyaa… Seriously, this craftsmanship is insane. You could charge money for this level of quality.”
She seemed awfully eager to get close to my Beta-chan… Was she just a fan, maybe?
“This is the first time I’ve met someone from the Shunkatou Republic.”
“Nyah-nya~ Well, we merchants only go where the money is, nyaa~. You might find us in the Royal Capital, but I doubt many come to a rural place like this, nyaa.”
The Shunkatou Republic—also known as the Nation of Commerce. I’d heard that country prioritized commercial development above all else, and its leader was renowned as the ‘Peerless King of Commerce,’ a figure wholly dedicated to business. Most of the Republic’s citizens were merchants, and their motto was apparently “Take much from where there’s money! Take little from where there’s none!” They were a people who loved money, so it was indeed unlikely I’d ever meet one out here in Iswood.
“—-So, what brought merchants like you all the way out here to see me specifically?”
“Fufufu, you ask even though you must already know, nyaa? It’s for business, obviously, nyaa!”
Wasting no time, she spread open the bag she’d brought and declared:
“Alchemist Susuria, or rather, Alchemist Streamer ‘Alkemy’! We, the Dorast Merchant Company, have come to purchase the Magical Stove you created, as well as five of your magic stones, nyaa! Please, we implore you, agree to a collaboration stream so we can make this sale, nyaa!”
