Chapter 60: Nan Zha: Jiang Xiyue is a Good Person

***

Watching Bai Ning and Jiang Xiyue walk into the examination room.

Nan Zha and Xia Zhichu stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, peering through the gaps in the blinds to see Bai Ning in the adjacent examination room obediently cooperating with the doctor for a brain CT scan.

“How is she?” Xia Zhichu stood beside Nan Zha, looking at the expressionless Nan Zha and asked.

“Abrasions, there might be some aftereffects.” Nan Zha’s gaze never left the examination room. “The doctor said she needs to be observed for 48 hours.”

Xia Zhichu looked at Nan Zha, who seemed unable to take her eyes away, and pouted. “You two are really lucky to be alive.”

Seeing that Nan Zha still wasn’t paying attention to her, she pulled out a document from her bag. “Alright, stop looking. Your eyeballs are about to fall in there. Nothing will happen in the hospital. I just saw her being affectionate with you. Now look at this first.”

Hearing Xia Zhichu’s teasing, Nan Zha paid no mind and took the document. Upon opening it, her pupils contracted slightly.

The document showed Nan Ziyue’s bank statements from the past six months, with several suspicious large transfers circled in red pen. The recipients were clearly several underground car modification shops.

“Not enough.” Her expression darkened as Nan Zha closed the document. “This at most will get her scolded by the family. Too easy on her.”

Although there were improper expenditures, for Nan Ziyue this was just a slap on the wrist. She wanted Nan Ziyue to pay the price she deserved. She didn’t care if someone came after her.

But she dared to target Bai Ning — that was simply seeking death!

“Don’t rush, don’t rush.”

Seeing Nan Zha’s grim expression, Xia Zhichu lightly patted Nan Zha’s shoulder with the document. “In 5 days, the Nan Group will hold a board meeting, right? I received word that Nan Jianyu plans to have Nan Ziyue take over the new energy project.”

Hearing this, Nan Zha nodded.

She knew about this news too. Although the Nan family and Jiang family didn’t manage to cooperate, Nan Ziyue should be punished, but Nan Jianyu still doted on his daughter too much.

He extracted a simple project from his subordinates’ projects, wanting to help Nan Ziyue regain her reputation among Yun City’s upper class.

The examination room door opened, and Bai Ning walked out wearing an oversized hospital gown, with Jiang Xiyue bending down to help tie the strings behind her back. Xia Zhichu suddenly leaned close to Nan Zha’s ear: “What do you think would happen if this recording suddenly played at tomorrow’s meeting…”

She pressed play on her phone, and Nan Ziyue’s sharp voice came through clearly: “If we can’t kill them, at least make them bedridden for half a year!”

Nan Zha’s eyes turned cold, anger rising from her heart, her voice icy.

“Where did you get this?”

“Her little assistant is quite sensible. Just threatened her family a bit. You ordered me to use any means necessary, right?”

Xia Zhichu waved her phone smugly. If she had to investigate legally, she couldn’t find anything, but if she used underhanded methods, she could still manage it.

“Thank you, I owe you a favor.”

Nan Zha took a deep breath and seriously thanked Xia Zhichu.

“Ah, you’re being too serious. This is all stuff you taught me. I’m just an imitator. If you weren’t so concerned about Bai Ning, you probably would have done this long ago. I just moved it up a bit.” Xia Zhichu acted nonchalant.

Nan Zha’s methods were much more ruthless than this. Back when she was building her fortune from nothing, she had done plenty of such things. It was only after meeting Bai Ning that she seemed to have reformed, rarely doing such things anymore.

“Love really can change a person.”

Looking at Nan Zha, who was still staring intently at Bai Ning, Xia Zhichu sighed and said in a mystical tone.

Being single was still the best, occasionally picking up girls at her lesbian bar, that was what she called living it up.

Since it was a private hospital, plus Jiang Xiyue’s personal intervention, there was no waiting in line for test results.

Basically, as soon as the examination was finished, the results came out. They essentially did a full body checkup, and Jiang Xiyue naturally took this opportunity to continuously tease Bai Ning.

It could be said that everything that should be “examined” had been examined, just short of “examining” Bai Ning’s developmental capacity.

Ignoring Bai Ning’s flushed face and fierce glare, Jiang Xiyue handed the materials to Nan Zha with some amusement.

“Nothing serious. All of you in the car were very lucky, just abrasions. Looking at it this way, your mild concussion is actually the most severe.”

There were 3 people in the car total. Because the opposing side had a clear target, the driver had no problems at all.

“Exactly, the love-struck brain got knocked even more severely.”

Xia Zhichu whispered sarcastically beside them in a voice only Nan Zha could hear.

After glaring at Xia Zhichu and kicking her, Nan Zha looked at Bai Ning beside her. Bai Ning’s face was still somewhat flushed, her lips pressed together, with fine beads of sweat on her forehead.

“Are you alright? Is it very hot?” she asked with some concern.

“Ah, mm, it does feel a bit hot.”

Still not having recovered from the strange sensations in her body, hearing Nan Zha’s concerned words, Bai Ning instinctively glanced at Jiang Xiyue. Seeing that faint smile, Bai Ning looked away and answered somewhat unnaturally.

Nan Zha’s expression was somewhat puzzled. She remembered it had just rained today, and the temperature had dropped. It shouldn’t be that hot. When she was examined this morning, she hadn’t felt hot either.

But seeing how energetic Bai Ning looks, there probably wasn’t anything wrong. Perhaps people just had different heat tolerance.

After confirming Bai Ning was fine, Nan Zha earnestly thanked Jiang Xiyue, who stood nearby with a smile on her face.

“Thank you so much, Dr. Jiang.”

This was heartfelt gratitude. Originally, this matter had basically nothing to do with Jiang Xiyue, but after hearing about her and Bai Ning’s car accident, she rushed over immediately.

First, she brought them to her private hospital, then during her unconsciousness, she had been carefully taking care of Bai Ning and meticulously conducting examinations for them.

When asked why she was so attentive, she only replied that this was just her duty, she treated all patients this way.

They had clearly been strangers just yesterday, and even now, they were at most business partners.

For someone she had just met to be so dedicated, she had to admit that Jiang Xiyue was truly a gentle and considerate person.

Bai Ning: “I have no objections.”

Hearing Nan Zha’s words, Jiang Xiyue nodded.

“Just doing my job. Besides, you had this accident on your way back from my banquet, so ultimately I bear some responsibility for this.”

When mentioning the accident, although her face bore a smile, a trace of coldness flashed in her eyes.

Originally, she had only planned to ruin them, but now it seemed they really needed to be thrown into the river.

“Since everything’s fine, you should go back to your room and rest. Stay for a day or two, get your bodies back in shape, then you can be discharged.”

After smiling and speaking to Nan Zha and the others, she watched them leave. Once they were gone, the smile gradually faded from her face as she took out her phone and dialed a familiar number.

“The Nan family, I’ll start with you.”
