Chapter 55: This Stuff is Really Strong!

***

Her relentless efforts over the past few months had definitely made Nan Zha consider Bai Ning as her friend.

But due to her tsundere personality, even though she really wanted to be friends with Bai Ning, she just couldn’t bring herself to say it out loud.

The tsundere personality combined with her aloof nature explained why Nan Zha was good to her but still maintained that cold demeanor.

Although there was another possibility — that Nan Zha, like Jiang Xiyue, also liked her.

But Bai Ning felt this possibility was even less likely than Ning Xue liking her. It would be good enough if the villainess and the female lead didn’t fight each other, and having one Jiang Xiyue like her was already absurd enough.

Bai Ning didn’t think her charm was so great that it could make so many villainesses fall for her. Sure, she was beautiful, but she wasn’t some kind of universal heartthrob.

So excluding this option, the only remaining possibility was that Nan Zha wanted to be friends with her.

Detective Ning had discovered the truth.

After figuring this out, Bai Ning felt she wasn’t as afraid of Nan Zha anymore. In fact, watching Nan Zha’s evasive and awkward behavior even seemed somewhat cute.

She might not have much experience dealing with villainesses, but tsunderes were different, her years of playing galgames weren’t for nothing.

When a person defines someone’s personality, there will inevitably be some filter involved.

Just like before, Bai Ning thought Nan Zha was a villainess who would constantly trouble her, so every action and expression from Nan Zha would make her anxious.

But now, with her perception changed, when Bai Ning recalled what Nan Zha had done before, she only found it cute.

A seemingly cold and aloof older sister type, but secretly someone who was troubled about making friends, this kind of contrast was quite attractive.

Looking at Nan Zha, who seemed somewhat restless due to her direct gaze, Bai Ning had a flash of inspiration and the corner of her mouth curved up slightly.

“Mmm~”

She covered her head and let out a soft moan, her eyebrows furrowing slightly as if she felt uncomfortable.

Although the sound was small and the movement gentle, it still caught Nan Zha’s attention.

“What’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell?”

Although her words were still cold, Bai Ning could hear the concern and anxiety in them.

[Nan Zha worried, anxious, feedback value +208]

“Mmm, I think so…”

A soft, sweet voice came from Bai Ning’s mouth, making Nan Zha unconsciously swallow.

Although it wasn’t appropriate, after knowing Bai Ning for these few months, this was the first time she had seen such a delicate and vulnerable side of her, making her heart beat faster.

“Bear with it for a moment. I’ll urge them to hurry, we’ll go to the hospital right away.”

Shaking her head slightly to dispel the inappropriate thoughts, Nan Zha picked up her phone with an unnatural expression and called the driver again.

But just as she finished urging him, a warm body collapsed against her shoulder, making her body stiffen.

“Bai, Bai Ning?”

She spoke tentatively, a blush appearing on Nan Zha’s face.

Bai Ning was leaning too close, she could even hear the soft breathing by her ear.

Smelling the familiar fragrance, the enclosed car space made Nan Zha feel somewhat feverish.

Although there was no one else around, Bai Ning’s current state was clearly not normal. While she wasn’t exactly a gentleman, she wouldn’t take advantage of someone in distress either.

Although she was greedy for this feeling, Nan Zha still planned to reach out and help Bai Ning sit up properly. But before she could move, the tingling sensation by her ear made her body tremble involuntarily.

“Sister Nan, my head hurts a bit. Could you help me massage it~”

The soft voice was like spring water in the forest, dripping into her heart, making her heartbeat accelerate suddenly and her mind go blank for a moment.

Looking at Bai Ning with her flushed face, somewhat dazed eyes, and slightly parted lips breathing like orchids.

She suddenly regretted not using this stuff instead of what she had used on Bai Ning before.

Although what Xia Zhichu had given her was quite effective, Nan Ziyue’s stuff was really strong!

[Nan Zha surprised, nervous, regretful, feedback value +436]

Yes! Gold coins explosion!

Bai Ning naturally wasn’t acting this way because the drug effects hadn’t worn off, they had long since passed. She was completely lucid now, and her current appearance was entirely performed using Intermediate Acting. She had to say, the system was somewhat useful after all, at least this skill felt very worthwhile.

Looking at Nan Zha’s nervous, blushing face, she felt an indescribable sense of pleasure.

“Okay.”

Her body was very tense as she let Bai Ning lie in her arms, her trembling hands reaching up to Bai Ning’s head and beginning to massage gently.

“Mmm, ahh~”

Bai Ning occasionally let out comfortable soft moans, and each time she did, the system notification would sound.

Of course, it wasn’t intentional, Nan Zha’s massage technique was indeed quite skilled.

Bai Ning was somewhat surprised that a female CEO could have such proficient massage skills.

For Nan Zha, this period was both comfortable and torturous, having the meat right at her mouth but unable to eat it was driving her somewhat crazy.

Perhaps Nan Zha’s urging had worked, as the driver arrived at the banquet garage earlier than expected.

“Young lady, Miss Bai.”

Standing outside respectfully, he bowed his head to greet both of them.

“Go to Yun City Central Hospital.”

Nan Zha, her face flushed, fanned herself and gave the instruction with an unnatural expression.

The driver could see the atmosphere was somewhat off, but having been cautious with words and actions for so many years, he simply responded and quickly started the vehicle, driving toward the outside.

Bai Ning looked at Nan Zha, who was obviously avoiding her gaze, and the corner of her mouth curved up slightly.

……

Nan Ziyue stood before the floor-to-ceiling window, the wine glass in her hand reflecting the brilliant night scene outside. Her fingertips gripped the glass so tightly that her knuckles turned white.

“The Xia family has withdrawn their investment.” Nan Jianyu’s cold voice still echoed in her ears. “Do you know what this means?”

Of course she knew.

Xia Zhichu had suddenly terminated the investment in Nan Group, bringing the entire project to a halt.

The confident guarantee of gaining the Jiang family’s support had also become someone else’s wedding dress. The board’s dissatisfaction, her father’s scolding, and those collateral relatives’ gloating eyes — all of it weighed down on her.

Everything she had was ruined, and she had become the laughingstock of Yun City’s upper class.

And all of this was because of Nan Zha.

That abandoned daughter who should have been cast aside by the family had now become Jiang Xiyue’s honored guest. Even more hateful was that at tonight’s banquet, Nan Zha had humiliated her in front of everyone.

“Sister Ziyue,” Nan Zha had said at the time, holding her champagne with a smile, “I heard the Xia family withdrew their investment? What a pity.”

That smile cut into her heart like a knife.

Nan Ziyue suddenly smashed the wine glass against the wall, glass fragments scattering everywhere.

“Nan Zha… Bai Ning…” She gritted her teeth as she spoke these two names, her chest heaving violently.

Her phone screen lit up with a message from her assistant: [Target vehicle route confirmed].

Nan Ziyue stared at that message, her lips slowly curving into a twisted smile.

“Since you’ve made my life miserable…” she whispered softly, “then let’s all go to hell together.”
