Chapter 51: A Thorough Full-Body Examination

***

“Nan Zha, Nan Zha! Don’t panic!”

Struggling to catch up, Xia Zhichu couldn’t match Nan Zha’s physical condition. After running for a while, she was already panting heavily from exhaustion.

Fortunately, Nan Zha hadn’t truly lost her rationality and started searching everywhere randomly. After taking a rough look around the banquet hall downstairs, she ran with clear purpose toward the banquet’s surveillance room.

Xia Zhichu struggled greatly before finally reaching the surveillance room.

When she arrived, Nan Zha was already sitting in front of the surveillance computer, staring intently at the screen and continuously reviewing the previous footage without missing a single detail.

The security personnel standing behind Nan Zha were also helping her look, as they generally wouldn’t refuse requests to help find people. After all, if something happened at the banquet, they would be the ones held responsible.

“Huff, huff”

Xia Zhichu supported herself on her knees with both hands, breathing heavily. She hadn’t been able to catch up with Nan Zha earlier, so she had stopped to arrange for people to search for Bai Ning in the banquet hall.

“Don’t worry, I’ve already arranged for people to search. There shouldn’t be any problems.” Walking to Nan Zha’s side and seeing her frowning with obvious anxiety, Xia Zhichu spoke softly to comfort her.

She hadn’t expected Nan Ziyue to actually do such a thing. That slap earlier was really too light, she should have added a kick before leaving.

The banquet was large, so there were many surveillance cameras. Finding one person wasn’t easy, but fortunately, Bai Ning had very distinctive features. She was the only person with white hair at the entire banquet, so Nan Zha quickly locked onto Bai Ning’s figure.

The surveillance showed that from the time they separated, Bai Ning had drunk a glass of fruit wine and then been led by a server to a room upstairs to rest.

Everything initially looked normal, but the server’s behavior after coming out was somewhat suspicious. After coming out, he observed the surroundings, then picked up his phone and started typing, as if reporting something.

But this didn’t necessarily mean anything, perhaps it was just work-related reporting, so Nan Zha fast-forwarded a bit.

The scene changed, and she discovered that Bai Ning had actually opened the door and walked out, swaying unsteadily while supporting herself against the wall. Her condition clearly looked wrong.

She swayed into a room, then there was no more movement.

Seeing this, Nan Zha clenched her fists tightly and immediately got up to run toward the target room.

“Hey, be careful!”

Xia Zhichu saw Nan Zha running so fast but didn’t rush to follow. She was physically weak, and even if she followed, she wouldn’t be of much use. Besides, she didn’t have the energy to keep up right now. She could only jog slowly while notifying the bodyguards to head toward the room.

Nan Zha looked anxious as she ran toward the target room in large strides. She reached the room entrance before long and was about to break down the door when it suddenly opened.

Looking at the two people inside, Nan Zha’s face showed a trace of surprise.

It wasn’t quite the scene she had imagined, but the result was good overall, making her breathe a sigh of relief. Bai Ning was standing in front of her, completely unharmed.

The moment she saw Bai Ning, she almost couldn’t control her emotions and wanted to rush forward and hug her. But when she saw Jiang Xiyue behind her, her originally worried expression immediately became calm. Pretending not to care, she spoke indifferently.

“Good, you’re fine.”

But her disheveled hair, the sweat on her forehead, and her messy clothes didn’t quite match her expression.

Xia Zhichu, who had rushed over panting, saw this scene and felt completely exasperated. She rolled her eyes, she knew it. With Nan Zha’s personality, she definitely couldn’t say anything caring.

She had been worried sick, rushing around like an ant on a hot pan just moments ago, but now that she’d found her, she was pretending to be calm.

Being tsundere is so outdated, prison girl!

Bai Ning on the side also noticed the panting Xia Zhichu, but she didn’t recognize her, she just felt somewhat familiar.

Facing Bai Ning’s puzzled gaze, Xia Zhichu smiled and introduced herself.

“Ah, hello, I’m Nan Zha’s business partner, Xia Zhichu. I’m also Nan Zha’s friend.”

“Ah, hello, hello!”

Bai Ning responded repeatedly.

She had heard of Xia Zhichu’s name before. After all, Yun City’s upper-class circle wasn’t that large. When she had investigated who the female lead was, she had thoroughly researched all the upper-class children’s information.

But she had a deep impression of Xia Zhichu, not because she was beautiful, but mainly because she was very interested in that lesbian bar that Xia Zhichu ran.

In her previous life, she had been well-behaved and had rarely been to bars, let alone this type of bar. She was full of curiosity and definitely wanted to find time to visit once.

Just as Nan Zha was about to ask what had happened to Bai Ning, the woman behind Bai Ning moved.

She slowly walked to Bai Ning’s side, her eyes carrying a trace of assessment as she observed her and spoke.

“Nan Zha, right?”

Earlier, her mind had been completely focused on Bai Ning, with no time to pay attention to others. Now looking at this golden-haired woman in front of her, with her exquisite features and elegant temperament, her status and position were probably not simple.

But the condescending assessment and arrogant questioning made her somewhat displeased. Nan Zha’s brow furrowed slightly.

“I am. May I ask who you are?”

“Jiang Xiyue, head of the Jiang family.”

The woman’s answer made Nan Zha freeze for a moment, looking at the woman in front of her with some disbelief. She really hadn’t expected that the elusive new head of the Jiang family would be standing right in front of her.

Because Jiang Xiyue had recently come to power and hadn’t participated in any media coverage, people outside didn’t actually know her specific appearance, they only knew some characteristics.

But Nan Zha was somewhat puzzled about why Bai Ning would have any connection with this head of the Jiang family.

Jiang Xiyue seemed to notice Nan Zha’s confusion and spoke.

“Miss Bai Ning and I just met, but Miss Bai’s condition was a bit problematic earlier. She seems to have been drugged.”

Hearing Jiang Xiyue’s words, Nan Zha frowned slightly and asked with some concern.

“How is she now?”

“She’s fine now. I just performed a thorough full-body examination, and there’s nothing seriously wrong.”

When mentioning the full-body examination, Jiang Xiyue’s gaze subtly glanced toward Bai Ning’s direction. Seeing the smile at the corner of Jiang Xiyue’s mouth, Bai Ning felt cold sweat about to drip down.

Hearing Jiang Xiyue’s words, Nan Zha didn’t feel anything was wrong and instead breathed a sigh of relief, thinking to herself that Bai Ning’s luck was really good to have happened to encounter Jiang Xiyue.

Jiang Xiyue wasn’t just the head of the Jiang family, she was also a young medical doctor. It wasn’t some watered-down 4+4 program, and she owned many private hospitals under her name.

After feeling relieved, anger surged to her head. She hadn’t expected Nan Ziyue to be stupid enough to choose drugging. She seemed to have no awareness of how serious this matter was.

After the banquet ended, she would move up her plans and make the Nan family pay the price.
