Chapter 45: Boring, I Want to See Blood Flow Like a River!
***
“Nan Zha, what are you planning to do? Where is the head of the Jiang family?”
Leaning against the wall, looking warily at Nan Zha in front of her, her gaze falling on the two female bodyguards standing beside her. Although they were women, their physiques were quite robust, making her feel somewhat afraid.
Nan Zha had already changed her clothes, now wearing a purple dress as she sat gracefully in a chair.
Playing with the empty wine glass in her hand, she didn’t answer Nan Ziyue’s question, only quietly watching Nan Ziyue in front of her, her eyes showing no discernible emotion.
The more Nan Zha acted this way, the more panicked Nan Ziyue felt. She tried to turn the door handle, but it seemed to be locked from the outside. After several attempts, it was useless.
With her back against the wall, Nan Ziyue forced herself to remain calm, though her voice trembled slightly.
“You, you better think carefully. Your company is still in the IPO stage, right? If you do anything to me, the Nan family won’t let you off.”
“Heh”
With a light laugh, Nan Zha stood up and began to leisurely straighten her clothes.
“That old fool? He can’t control me.”
Her tone was filled with disgust and disdain for Nan Jianyu. Nan Zha didn’t care about that old man at all. Although she couldn’t yet confront the Nan family head-on and was still nominally that old man’s daughter.
So, as an older sister disciplining her younger sister, what could anyone say? Especially when the younger sister was at fault first. Even the Jiang family couldn’t find fault with it.
But whenever Nan Ziyue mentioned her father, she seemed to become confident. When she realized that Nan Zha couldn’t possibly harm her, her voice changed from trembling to full of arrogance.
“Think it through clearly. Let me out now, and I can pretend nothing happened.”
Seeing Nan Ziyue’s sudden change of face and not knowing where she got the courage to speak to her like this, Nan Zha was almost laughing from anger.
How had she never noticed before that Nan Ziyue was so stupid?
Seeing that Nan Zha still looked indifferent, Nan Ziyue became somewhat agitated, her voice becoming sharp: “Do you really think that opening a company means you can turn things around? Let me tell you, with just one word from me, father can make you—”
Before her words could fall, the door was opened from outside.
“Oh, still in one piece? What an awful voice, I could hear it from outside.”
The newcomer looked surprised as she looked at Nan Ziyue, seeming puzzled about why she hadn’t been beaten yet, then turned to Nan Zha and said:
“You’re a bit slow. How come you haven’t made a move yet? I thought you were fighting, and I got excited for nothing.”
Boring, Xia Zhichu just wanted to see blood flow like a river.
Nan Zha looked at the newcomer, her expression still calm, but with a hint of amusement in her eyes.
Xia Zhichu rolled her eyes. Nan Zha had called her here mainly to use the Xia family’s influence to pressure Nan Ziyue. She clearly had the ability to bring down the Nan family herself, but she kept holding back.
Doing this would definitely put her at odds with the Nan family, but Xia Zhichu didn’t care. Besides, the Xia family already knew about the things the Nan family had been doing behind the scenes. What she needed to do now was to make the Xia family cut off cooperation with the Nan family, which would be for the best.
And she had indeed found Nan Ziyue annoying for a long time.
Nan Ziyue immediately shut her mouth the moment she saw Xia Zhichu enter.
She might dare to use her father and the Jiang family to intimidate Nan Zha, but now with Xia Zhichu added to the mix, if she continued to be arrogant, she would be purely stupid.
Moreover, the Nan family still needed investment from the Xia family. If Xia Zhichu went back and whispered a few words, this deal might fall through. If this really happened, her father would definitely not let her off easily.
But even if she behaved obediently now, Nan Zha wouldn’t let her off. She signaled to the two bodyguards beside her to take action.
After receiving Nan Zha’s signal, the bodyguards were about to act, but Xia Zhichu moved against them first.
“I was wrong, I was wrong, I shouldn’t have done this, I…”
“Slap!”
Before her sobbing words could finish, a slap landed hard on her face, directly slapping the rest of her words back.
“You don’t know you were wrong, you just know you’re about to get beaten. Oh, and by the way, let me tell you, we know about the things your Nan family has been doing. The Xia family won’t invest anymore.”
Along with Xia Zhichu’s words, the sound of the slap was particularly clear in the room, and Nan Ziyue was stunned.
Feeling the pain on her face, with her hair disheveled, Nan Ziyue was dazed, her mind completely blank.
The Xia family stopped investing, she was beaten, and they even hit her face!!
Her rationality seemed to be torn apart. Looking at her obviously swollen and disfigured face in the mirror, Nan Ziyue let out a scream.
“Ahh!!”
She began to frantically claw at Nan Zha and Xia Zhichu, but before she could get close, the bodyguards beside them directly restrained her.
“Nan Zha, you bitch!”
Looking at Nan Ziyue with her hair disheveled and acting like a madwoman, Nan Zha frowned slightly, her eyes showing a trace of disdain. She suddenly felt that getting serious with such a person was somewhat beneath her.
But it was also because she had made her lose face in front of Bai Ning that she was doing this.
Not planning to continue watching this farce, after signaling the bodyguards to take action, Nan Zha turned around and was about to leave. Rather than entangling with Nan Ziyue here, it would be better to go out and chat with Bai Ning.
Thinking of Bai Ning’s obedient appearance and how she had just defended her, a smile appeared on her face, and her steps became lighter. But just as she had taken a few steps, a voice from behind made her steps falter.
“Huff~ hehe, hahaha, you want to find Bai Ning, right? You can go look for where she is now, hahaha”
Nan Ziyue said this with a maniacal laugh. She could tell that the relationship between Nan Zha and Bai Ning wasn’t as discordant as the outside world said, and it seemed quite good actually.
So thinking about what she had done before, she couldn’t help but want to laugh. She was finished now, but she wanted to see Nan Zha lose her composure.
Indeed, as she expected, the moment Bai Ning was mentioned, Nan Zha’s face immediately darkened, and she stared at her with an unfriendly expression.
“What do you mean?”
“Nothing special. Don’t you cherish Bai Ning? Guess how she’s doing now?”
Nan Ziyue looked at Nan Zha’s unfriendly expression and said even more happily.
Although she cared about Bai Ning when she was mentioned, she wasn’t about to believe Nan Ziyue’s words. She needed to verify it herself.
Taking out her phone from her pocket, she dialed a familiar number, waiting for it to connect.
But unexpectedly, the first call didn’t go through.
Her heart sank, feeling something was wrong. Her eyes darkened further, and she dialed again.
If it was once or twice not being answered, that would be normal. It was noisy at the banquet, so not hearing it would be normal. But several times in a row, all not connecting, was a bit strange.
Nan Zha’s unease reached its peak, and her face gradually showed signs of anxiety.
“Hehe, hehe, can’t get through, right?”
