Chapter 36: I Still Prefer Your Rebellious Look

***

Her eyelashes fluttered gently, and the corners of her mouth occasionally curved upward slightly, as if she was dreaming of something happy. Her cheeks showed a faint blush, her breathing was even and soft, and she looked peaceful and sweet overall, appearing even more gentle than when she was awake.

Bai Ning unconsciously became somewhat mesmerized. As the villainess of the novel, she naturally couldn’t be unattractive, and could even be said to surpass her, the female lead, in certain aspects.

Bai Ning stared at Ning Xue’s pretty face without getting tired of it, until waves of drowsiness swept over her. Perhaps Ning Xue’s milk really did help with sleep, as Bai Ning fell asleep faster than usual.

The room fell into silence, with the two girls sleeping face to face. This should have continued until morning.

But not long after Bai Ning fell asleep, Ning Xue, who should have been fast asleep, opened her eyes. There wasn’t a trace of sleepiness in those eyes as she stared straight at Bai Ning.

Looking at the sleeping Bai Ning before her, Ning Xue licked her somewhat dry lips.

She wasn’t asleep, but had woken up when Bai Ning came in, and had been pretending to sleep ever since. When she saw through squinted eyes that Bai Ning had drunk all the milk, she almost couldn’t hold back.

So not long after Bai Ning fell asleep, she couldn’t resist anymore. She stretched out her slender hand and slowly reached toward Bai Ning’s face, murmuring softly.

“Xiao Ning, I like you so much…”

Along with rustling sounds, like the sound of flowing water, the atmosphere in the room became strange.

[Ning Xue excited, comfortable, feedback value +269]

[…feedback value +123]

[…feedback value +236]

……

In the morning, Bai Ning sat on the edge of the bed with a tired expression, sleepily putting on her clothes.

She didn’t know why, but she always felt more tired after sleeping, as if she wasn’t the one sleeping on the bed, but rather the bed had slept on her.

Thinking about it carefully, it seemed like this happened every time she slept with Ning Xue. Although she always woke up naturally and slept for a long time, she would feel like she hadn’t slept enough when she woke up, with a feeling of exhaustion throughout her body.

Occasionally, she would feel some vague pain in a few places on her body, but she didn’t think much of it, because Ning Xue didn’t have very good sleeping posture, so it was probably just accidentally hitting her during sleep.

“Although Ning Xue is very cute, her sleeping posture is really not praiseworthy.”

Even though she tried to avoid the painful areas, Bai Ning still grimaced while putting on her clothes.

Ning Xue had left very early because she still had classes in the morning. If it were Bai Ning, she would probably skip class, but for a well-behaved student like Ning Xue, skipping class was impossible.

“What? Are you glitching or something?”

She had originally opened the system panel to check her feedback value out of habit, just like checking her novel’s data. She would look at it before bed, then see how much it had increased the next morning.

Although the feedback value wouldn’t increase, Bai Ning looked at it every day just for self-discipline.

But the moment she opened it today, seeing the obviously abnormal data on it, Bai Ning’s head suddenly twitched.

Her small mouth opened slightly, her small face full of confusion.

It was clearly 23,000 yesterday, so how did it jump to 30,000 after just one night?

[The system will never have any errors]

Bai Ning looked suspicious, “You couldn’t have activated some kind of nighttime automatic idle farming function for earning feedback values, could you?”

[You could glitch and I still wouldn’t glitch. Just keep guessing, you won’t get it right]

The system’s words carried some unclear meaning, making Bai Ning feel a chill down her back.

“Hmph, stingy. If you won’t say it, then don’t say it.”

Pouting, Bai Ning opened the door and walked downstairs. She was a bit hungry now, and since the system wouldn’t tell her anyway, she might as well go eat first.

The TV downstairs was very loud. Bai Ning figured it was Aunt Li watching again, so she walked while shouting loudly.

“Aunt Li, you can prepare lunch now!”

Because she was tying her hair while walking, Bai Ning didn’t see the scene downstairs. It wasn’t until she walked to the sofa and sat down that she noticed there was another person next to her, holding the remote control.

“Aunt Li, I know the TV is interesting, but you can totally pause it. I’m a bit hungry right now.”

While saying this, she took the remote control from the person’s hand, Bai Ning looking slightly reproachful.

“Oh~ You want me to cook for you?”

A slightly teasing voice sounded.

“Yeah, otherwise… what…”

Bai Ning was about to answer instinctively, but halfway through her response, she realized that this voice wasn’t Aunt Li’s at all.

Her heart skipped a beat, and her little head slowly lifted up, her eyes slowly looking upward, while silently praying in her heart.

But the moment she saw the owner of the voice, Bai Ning’s vision went black, she almost couldn’t catch her breath, and her facial expression instantly turned bitter.

Damn it, why is Nan Zha in my house so early in the morning?!

“Do you still need me to cook for you?”

Seeing Bai Ning’s little face scrunched up, Nan Zha’s lips curved upward slightly as she asked teasingly.

“Hehe, how could I let Sister Nan cook? There’s no reason to make a guest cook. I just woke up and my brain is a bit fuzzy.”

Imperceptibly moving to the side, Bai Ning smiled reluctantly.

This was scarier than a horror movie, waking up early in the morning to find Nan Zha in her house.

Looking at Nan Zha’s smiling pretty face, Bai Ning could still feel her butt aching.

“What brings Sister Nan here so early?”

Quickly changing the subject, Bai Ning didn’t want to get punished again.

“Did you forget about tonight’s banquet again?”

“I didn’t forget! How could I forget that? But the banquet is tonight, and it’s not even noon yet.”

“What, are you not welcoming me as a guest?”

Of course I’m not welcoming you!

Although that’s what she thought in her heart, Bai Ning said something else with her mouth.

“How could that be? I’m so happy I can barely contain myself. How could I not welcome you?”

System: [I still prefer your rebellious look from yesterday, when you said you’d pin down Nan Zha and teach her a lesson. Can you go back to that?]

Bai Ning: “Shut up. If you were actually useful, I would have done that already.”

Nan Zha didn’t continue speaking, but kept the corners of her mouth upturned, staring at Bai Ning the whole time. Bai Ning couldn’t stand it and was about to talk about other things when Aunt Li’s voice came from the nearby kitchen.

“Young lady, Miss Nan, lunch is ready. Please come quickly, both of you.”

This was like heavenly music to Bai Ning’s ears. The moment she heard it, Bai Ning immediately stood up and responded.

“Okay, coming right away!”

After saying that, Bai Ning’s small face showed a hint of a smile as she looked at Nan Zha and said.

“Sister Nan, let’s eat first. Whatever it is, we can talk about it after we finish eating.” After saying that, she waited for Nan Zha’s response.
