I Was Supposed to Be the Villainess, Now You're Telling Me I'm the Female Lead? - Chapter 27
Chapter 27: The Domineering CEO’s Little Delicate Wife
***
As soon as she came downstairs, she saw Aunt Li holding a broom and cracking sunflower seeds while watching TV in the living room, with the volume turned up quite loud.
Sweeping was really too boring, and she wasn’t the only servant in the house, there were so many others that it basically never came to her turn to do anything. Besides, after sweeping for decades, this little bit of work wouldn’t take long to finish anyway, so slacking off was perfectly normal.
However, when Bai Ning saw what short drama Aunt Li was watching, the corner of her mouth couldn’t help but twitch a few times.
On the TV, a tall woman in a business suit was pressing another petite girl against the wall, with a wicked smile on her lips, speaking in a tone so greasy you could squeeze three liters of oil out of it.
“Woman, you have caught my attention.”
Looking at the bizarre scene, Bai Ning suddenly felt that the historical short drama she watched this morning wasn’t so hard to watch after all.
“Huh?”
Seeing Bai Ning coming down from upstairs, Aunt Li looked somewhat surprised.
She knew Bai Ning’s usual wake-up time, and Bai Ning had also instructed them not to prepare breakfast for her in the morning. There was only one reason that could make Bai Ning get up this early.
“Young lady, are you going to deliver breakfast to Miss Nan today? It’s a bit late though.”
“Who’s going to deliver breakfast to her? I haven’t even eaten myself, who cares about her.”
Upon hearing this, for some reason, Bai Ning suddenly remembered what happened yesterday when they were taking measurements. Her face turned red, and she denied it somewhat excitedly, she didn’t want to see Nan Zha first thing in the morning.
Seeing Bai Ning’s reaction, Aunt Li quickly changed her tune.
“Oh, oh, oh, I understand. You just want to go have breakfast downstairs at Miss Nan’s company.”
This was Bai Ning’s usual excuse from before when she delivered breakfast to Nan Zha. Hearing it now immediately reminded Bai Ning of the foolish things she had done for the past few months, making her face turn even redder than before.
“No, no, I just have some business to take care of outside.”
After stammering this out, Bai Ning ran toward the door.
Looking at Bai Ning’s obviously shy expression, she knew that Bai Ning was thin-skinned. She had originally thought that since Miss Nan came to find her personally, their relationship had already improved quite a bit and they had taken a step forward.
But unexpectedly, they had taken a step, yet seemed like they hadn’t. Bai Ning appeared even more shy when Nan Zha was mentioned, looking more and more like a CEO’s little delicate wife.
“The young lady is still too shy. It’s going to be hard for her and CEO Nan to be open with each other.”
Sigh!
CEO? Little delicate wife?
A flash of inspiration struck her mind. She turned her gaze to the TV she hadn’t finished watching, looking at the scene where the domineering CEO was doing a wall slam and forcefully kissing the female lead. Aunt Li discovered the key point.
CEO = Nan Zha
Little delicate wife = Bai Ning
Their personalities and identities basically matched up, except Bai Ning was a bit too shy and Nan Zha wasn’t quite that domineering.
However, Aunt Li could understand this. After all, although art comes from life, it’s also a recreation of life. It’s perfectly normal for personalities to be exaggerated.
But since it comes from life, there must be something to reference.
She, Aunt Li, had watched no fewer than a hundred short dramas and was definitely an expert who knew these things inside and out.
“Let me lend the young lady a helping hand.”
Thinking about what would happen next, Aunt Li’s face showed an auntie smile.
…………
“Who’s going to deliver breakfast to her? I’m just going to pick up some clothes. She’s so scary, how could I possibly go?”
After leaving the house, while walking toward the shopping mall in Yun City, she was still muttering under her breath.
“But actually, delivering it once should be fine…”
Her steps faltered. Bai Ning whispered to herself, “I used to deliver it every day before. If I suddenly stop going now, won’t Nan Zha notice something’s wrong? What if she uses this against me?”
“Besides, she basically doesn’t eat breakfast in the morning. When I don’t deliver it, she doesn’t eat at all. This is bad for her health. If her stomach problems get worse, that wouldn’t be good.”
Thinking about this possibility, Bai Ning felt she should continue delivering breakfast to Nan Zha.
Of course, she wasn’t concerned about Nan Zha. After all, Nan Zha was the villainess and she was the female lead. She delivered breakfast only to earn feedback value, that’s right, that’s exactly it.
“Besides, she bought me a dress yesterday. Going to deliver breakfast to her is reasonable too. It’s not for any other reason. Yes, it’s just to show gratitude.” After finding her reason, Bai Ning decided she should go deliver it.
“What should I deliver?” But looking at the breakfast stalls all around, Bai Ning fell into choice paralysis.
She had choice paralysis to begin with. Before, she used to think about what to deliver the night before, so she wouldn’t be conflicted the next day. Now choosing on the spot, looking at all the various breakfast options, Bai Ning immediately felt a bit overwhelmed.
System: [I recommend packaging yourself as a little cake gift box and going over. She’ll definitely be satisfied]
Bai Ning: “Setting aside that this kind of thing won’t happen, even if it did, I think if I delivered myself, she’d definitely get angry and think I was messing with her, and I’d inevitably get a beating.”
System: [How do you know without trying? Maybe she just likes your type of white little cake? And this ‘beating’ might not be the kind of ‘beating’ you’re imagining]
The system’s words carried a hint of mysterious amusement, making Bai Ning feel puzzled. She really felt this system wasn’t here to assist her, but just to tease and mock her. If it weren’t for the fact that it could help her grow taller, she would have blown up at this system long ago.
“Let’s just buy steamed buns. They’re filling and will give her mouth some flavor, hehe.” Bai Ning’s face showed a mischievous smile as she walked toward a steamed bun shop, deliberately selecting several pork and green onion ones.
“Let you bully me. When the time comes, you’ll have your mouth full of green onion smell during meetings!”
And this way, Nan Zha’s emotional fluctuations would definitely be intense, and she could make a big profit in feedback value. Thinking about this scene, Bai Ning couldn’t help but laugh.
After buying the food, Bai Ning hailed a taxi by the roadside to go to Nan Group’s company. She had originally planned to walk over, but thinking that the buns might get cold if she walked, she decided to take a taxi instead.
Of course, it wasn’t for Nan Zha’s sake. She just thought that if the buns got cold and didn’t taste good, Nan Zha might not eat them, and her plan would fall through, so she should hurry over.
As the car came to a steady stop, Bai Ning held the warm steamed buns in her hands, looking at the Nan Group building.
The Nan family was quite influential in Yun City, with a large corporate scale. The entire building looked very impressive, but Bai Ning was already used to it. After all, her family’s company wasn’t small either, and she came here often.
Without spending much time admiring it, she hurried into the Nan Group building.
Because Bai Ning had been consistently delivering breakfast to Nan Zha every morning for the past few months, everyone in the building recognized her. There was no classic scenario from novels where people looked down on others. Bai Ning quickly found out where Nan Zha was and took the elevator up.
However, Bai Ning had come at an unfortunate time. Nan Zha was currently in a meeting and it looked like it would be a while longer, so she could only wait in Nan Zha’s office for a bit.
