I Was Supposed to Be the Villainess, Now You're Telling Me I'm the Female Lead? - Chapter 15
Chapter 15: Pillow Princess
***
Her little body that had never exercised before found climbing to the 5th floor a bit too much for her.
“Huff, huff~”
Finally gasping for breath as she reached the 5th floor, Bai Ning leaned against the wall with her hands on her knees to rest.
“This, this physique, even catching a chicken would be exhausting”
Bai Ning felt she couldn’t let herself waste away like this anymore. She had to start exercising. She didn’t want to be a pillow princess who could only meow.
Once she finished training and returned, that little cricket Nan Zha would be instantly crushed!
System: [Unless you use the power of nine dragons, I can’t imagine you being on top]
Bai Ning: “If you can’t speak properly, then just shut up”
Bai Ning helplessly tidied her hair, decided not to think about these annoying things anymore, and turned to walk into the classroom.
Because Bai Ning came very early, there was still some time before class started, so there weren’t many people in the classroom. Only a few scattered students sat dispersed throughout the classroom, but they all very tacitly chose to sit in the back.
Bai Ning was naturally no exception, walking toward the back of the classroom without any hesitation.
They’re all in university now, who would still run to the front row? The back row was more suitable for her to slack off.
The classroom was large, designed for combined classes, so Bai Ning only noticed someone waving at her when she approached the last few rows.
While waving, the person was also saying:
“Xiao Bai, Xiao Bai, over here, over here”
The familiar voice reached her, and after seeing who it was clearly, Bai Ning’s small face showed a puzzled expression. She walked to the seat while asking:
“Youmeng, what are you doing here?”
“I also registered for this course”
Su Youmeng laughed cheerfully, scratching her head as she responded. She seemed very happy to see Bai Ning here, after all, running into familiar people in elective courses was indeed delightful.
Su Youmeng was Bai Ning’s friend. They had known each other since she came here. Usually, whatever Bai Ning did, she would follow behind Bai Ning like a little tail, feeling just like Bai Ning’s little sidekick.
In fact, it was pretty much like that. Bai Ning initially did treat Su Youmeng as a sidekick. After all, she used to think she was a villainess, so having a little sidekick was normal, right?
However, Bai Ning had been focused on escaping her villainess identity before, so she treated Su Youmeng fairly well and didn’t do anything weird.
Bai Ning had been taking leave for the past few days. Although credits were important, compared to her grand plan of fawning over the female lead, they were slightly less significant.
But who the hell knew that Nan Zha, whom she had been fawning over for most of the year, would turn out to be a villainess? And she had provoked more than just this one, there were many others. The future was truly pitch black.
Thinking about her current situation, Bai Ning felt her scalp tingling. She had originally wanted to relax a bit, but when she turned to see Su Youmeng still smiling foolishly at her, as if remembering something, Bai Ning’s heart skipped a beat.
She quietly asked the system in her mind:
“System, this Su Youmeng isn’t also…”
Halfway through her words, thinking of her own guess, Bai Ning couldn’t help but shiver. If there was one more, she felt she could dig a hole right here and bury herself.
System: [Don’t worry, she’s not]
The system’s answer made her breathe a sigh of relief.
Her gaze toward Su Youmeng became excited, she finally had a normal person around her.
“X-Xiao Bai, why are you staring at me like that?” Being looked at by Bai Ning this way, Su Youmeng seemed a bit shy, asking with dodging eyes.
“You’re very cute, so I want to look at you more”
“Ah, w-what are you saying?”
Su Youmeng’s face instantly turned bright red, turning her head to the side, her voice as small as a mosquito.
Bai Ning really wasn’t lying. Su Youmeng was indeed very cute. She was about the same height as Bai Ning, slightly taller, with black hair curled into a bun on top of her head, and her face still had a bit of baby fat.
However, although her height was similar to Bai Ning, her figure was completely different.
That big backpack was at least twice the size of Bai Ning. She clearly had a loli face and looked a bit silly, with the unique clarity and foolishness of a university student in her eyes, but she had a devilish figure that completely didn’t match her face.
The description “pure yet seductive” fit Su Youmeng perfectly.
Watching Su Youmeng shyly turn her head away, Bai Ning also laughed cheerfully.
There was a kind of excitement of meeting a normal person among a bunch of abnormal ones. These past few days, Nan Zha and Ning Xue had almost given Bai Ning PTSD, making her feel like everyone around her was a villainess.
System: [Do you think villainesses are like cabbages? They’re everywhere?]
Bai Ning: “How are they not like cabbages? I’ve encountered 3-4 of them in just these few months. Isn’t that a lot?”
System: [That’s because you brought it upon yourself. The female lead naturally attracts villainesses. To them, you’re like a seal in front of sharks]
The system’s mocking voice came through, and Bai Ning’s face immediately flushed red.
Before the red-faced Bai Ning could retort, the system continued:
System: [Calling you a seal is even generous. At least seals know to run when they see sharks. You, on the other hand, are like putting your head right in front of the shark, afraid the shark won’t eat you, even prying open the shark’s mouth and putting your own head inside, like a little fool]
The system’s series of words left Bai Ning completely speechless. She wanted to retort but couldn’t find anywhere to argue back. She could only bite her lip and look toward the window with a wronged expression, trying to divert her attention.
She was just looking casually, but as soon as she looked down, she saw a familiar figure. Bai Ning’s previously embarrassed and indignant mood immediately disappeared, and she looked at the figure below with a puzzled expression.
Ning Xue?
Why was she here? Didn’t she have no classes this afternoon?
With doubt in her gaze, Bai Ning stared intently at the figure below.
She couldn’t have followed me here, right?
It wasn’t that Bai Ning was overthinking, the recent events made it hard for her not to overthink.
Ning Xue stood quietly below, wearing a slip dress with a white sun protection jacket over it. She stood facing Bai Ning’s direction, looking around and occasionally checking her phone. She seemed to be waiting for someone.
She probably wasn’t following me.
Bai Ning felt relieved. That made sense, this elective course was something she had only selected last week, so Ning Xue wouldn’t know about it.
“Who is she waiting for?”
Bai Ning was a bit puzzled. After all, in her impression, whenever Ning Xue wasn’t with her, she would usually run to the library or go to her part-time job. She was different from Bai Ning. Bai Ning could be considered a rich second generation, while Ning Xue, if you had to say, could be considered a negative second generation.
Gambling dad, runaway mom, very classic template. This was also why Bai Ning had previously thought of her as the female lead.
Ning Xue had strong self-esteem and was unwilling to accept Bai Ning’s financial support. The money she had was all earned through part-time jobs during her spare time.
Bai Ning had no choice but to secretly help Ning Xue by providing some easy, high-paying positions.
