Chapter 60: The Holy Faith Church

“A holy war… indeed, that’s an interesting proposition. However, if that’s the case, it seems we have no choice but to approach it as a holy war as well… What’s the situation in the southern continent?”

“It appears that three countries have already been destroyed.”

“Three countries already!? Is the military power of the Holy Faith Church that formidable?”

“No, it seems there are four apostles of the evil gods.”

“Four apostles of that class… I see, that’s dangerous.”

Upon hearing the report during his training in Dragon Lord, Arus immediately returned to the Azure Sky Headquarters in the Demon Kingdom. In the office room, he received a report from Lona, placing his hand on his chin, and hummed in thought.

Although he had become an apostle himself and gained considerable strength, there were still four apostles of the evil gods. It was only natural to consider it dangerous.

Already three countries in the southern continent…

First, he wanted to grasp the extent of the apostles’ power…

“Lona… gather all the executives and have them assemble in the conference room. Also, summon Varon here immediately…”

“Yes, sir!”

Alone in the office room, Arus leaned back in his chair and gazed up at the ceiling.

“Are those apostles on par with me?”

“They’re unlikely to be. They wouldn’t have the power to prepare four apostles on par with Arus.”

“What if all four of them attacked at once?”

“Even then, Arus would still likely be superior.”

“So, there’s a possibility that I can surpass them eventually?”

“The growth correction is that much of a threat.”

“Do we strike quickly, or do I further strengthen my power…”

“Or perhaps, we could gain powerful allies…”

If what the Creator God says is true, then the threat level of the apostles of the evil gods isn’t that high for now.

We have my father as well.

If I ask, my master will surely lend a hand.

And with the Demon Kingdom’s army and the Azure Sky combined, our forces would be at their peak.

As fellow believers of the same Creator God, I’d like to form a united front with the beastmen, but I wonder how feasible that is.

Relations with the humans may be strained, but we’ve heard they have a good relationship with the demons.

And I also need to talk to King Luze and my master.

Arus immediately instructed Varon, who had come to the office, to increase the number of spies scattered around the world and gather more information. Then, Arus faced the executives gathered in the conference room at the Azure Sky Headquarters with a serious expression.

Around the large round table and chairs were arranged.

Seated at the head, of course, was Crown Prince Arus.

To his right was Lona, the leader of Azure Sky, and to his left was Varon, the commander of the army. Next to Varon was his assistant, Kaito, followed by the commanders of the first, second, and third squads: Leonardo, Gaizef, and Joseph, respectively, and the sniper squad leader, El.

Next to Lona were the leaders of the War Demon Corps: Chief Loki Meltban, followed by Lona Meltban, Beldor, Zen, and Sutea, and then the leader of the covert ops squad, a masked man named Crow.

It had been a while since all 13 executives had gathered together.

“I assume you’ve all heard the reports, but this time… the apostles of the evil gods have declared war. Three countries in the southern continent have been destroyed. According to reports, there are four apostles…”

“Hmm… I see… Four apostles,” said Leonardo with a sigh upon hearing Arus’s words.

“But according to the Creator God, my current strength is said to surpass all four of them combined, so for now, the threat isn’t that significant,” Arus continued.

“As for now, you say?”

Lona was the one who asked Arus that.

“The apostles of the evil gods possess a skill called Growth Correction. It seems that the rate of their growth is quite substantial. In other words, if left unchecked…”

“The threat increases…”

Lona nodded in understanding.

“In that case, Your Highness, it would be wise to crush them swiftly!” Beldor grinned as he looked at Arus.

Beldor, nicknamed the Battle Maniac, was always eager for combat. It seemed like he couldn’t wait for the battle.

“What about the details of the enemy’s forces?”

“Ah… There are four apostles… and the number of believers is increasing day by day. Those participating in combat exceed 50,000, in addition to two nations allied with the church, totaling 200,000 soldiers. Altogether, it’s about 250,000,” Varon replied promptly to Lona’s question.

Arus was surprised at the larger numbers than he had expected.

Azure Sky currently consisted of 30,000 soldiers in the First Squad, 20,000 in the Second Squad, 20,000 in the Third Squad, 5,000 in the Sniper Squad, and 10,000 War Demon Corps members, totaling 85,000 soldiers.

Considering that the Demon Kingdom’s army boasted nearly a million troops, 250,000 might seem small. However, in this world where magic was the primary form of warfare, even a force of 250,000 was quite significant, especially against the relatively weaker human race.

However, Arus preferred to deal with the situation using Azure Sky alone. He didn’t want to risk being attacked from within the Demon Kingdom while on the battlefield. His strategy was to eliminate the threat before it even had a chance to attack.

“Even if the enemy is human, it might be advisable to borrow several tens of thousands of troops from the national army and confront them according to the conventional strategy,” Arus contemplated.

“Yes…”

“We can spare some personnel from our side.”

“No, there might be problems if something unexpected happens…”

“I think diverting a few tens of thousands to your side shouldn’t be a problem for us, though?”

“We can’t predict what the apostates might do…”

“At least take the first to third surprise attack units with you.”

“Understood. Thank you, Your Majesty.”

“We have high expectations for Arus’s leadership.”

“Yes!!”

After that, various adjustments and preparations were made within the army. Meanwhile, the flames of war continued to spread across the southern continent. During the period when Arus was waiting for the opportunity to mobilize the army, approximately half of the southern continent fell under the control of the Holy Faith Church within a month.
