Chapter 53: The End Mechanism
“By the way, Loki… How did you guys infiltrate the imperial capital?” I asked Loki during the meeting of the Azure Sky headquarters.
“That was… a magical device. It’s a one-time use teleportation device, and we received it from a man we knew,” Loki replied.
“You got it from an acquaintance? Is it something they just hand out so easily?” I questioned.
“No… Teleportation devices, even the single-use ones, should fetch a considerable price,” Varon answered my query.
“Were you close with this person?” I inquired further.
“Not really… We only met twice, including the exchange. After the talk of revolution came up, he approached me in the city. ‘I have something you need. Would you care to listen?’ he said,” Loki explained.
“That sounds incredibly suspicious,” I remarked.
“Yes, we were skeptical, but since we had no other leads, we decided to hear him out,” Loki continued.
“And then he offered you the magical device?” I pressed.
“Yes… And he didn’t ask for anything in return,” Loki confirmed.
“What did he want in exchange?” I asked.
“That’s…,” Loki and Lona exchanged glances, uncertain. “We’re not entirely sure, but he said, ‘Regardless of the outcome, it doesn’t matter. What matters is that possibilities increase,'” Loki recollected.
“What does that even mean?” I pondered aloud.
I furrowed my brow at the thought. Was he hinting at the potential to devastate the Demon Kingdom?
“So, who is this person?” I inquired.
“He claimed to belong to an organization called the End Mechanism,” Loki replied.
“The End Mechanism? Varon, have you heard of it?” I asked.
“No, I haven’t heard of it either. Let’s discreetly investigate,” Varon suggested.
“Agreed,” I nodded.
The End Mechanism? Who are they? Another organization attempting revolution?
“And also…” Loki turned to me again.
“He was a human,” he added.
“A human…?” I repeated, taken aback.
“It seems things are getting quite suspicious,” remarked Lorna, observing my reaction.
“Is it a conspiracy by a human nation to bring down the Demon Kingdom?” Varon speculated.
“Do they want to start another war and spill blood needlessly, despite being former brethren? It’s truly disheartening,” Kaito lamented.
“Should we crush them? The humans…” Beldor suggested.
“Let’s not act hastily, Beldor,” Zen intervened.
But what’s going on? The End Mechanism? Humans? I have no clue whatsoever.
“They’re already operating to that extent?”
“Huh?”
“They’re probably… the apostles of a malevolent god and their subordinates.”
“Tch, so that’s what’s going on… Meaning their target is me and Father.”
“…It seems so. But as that man mentioned, they’re betting on potential rather than outcome. However, if they’re already moving to that extent, I expect we’ll see more of such things in the future.”
“Damn… They’re really a nuisance.”
“My apologies for the trouble.”
“Well, you’re doing all that for us.”
After finishing the conversation with the Creator God, all eyes in the conference room were on me.
Quite a soliloquy.
“The Creator God, huh?” Lorna asked, speaking on behalf of everyone.
“Yeah… I’ve more or less figured things out from that.”
“May we ask what happened?”
I proceeded to explain to everyone what had transpired with the Creator God up until now.
“So, the Creator God the humans speak of is the evil part discarded by the Creator God, essentially a malevolent deity…”
“I appreciate your quick understanding.”
“Does this mean there will eventually be a conflict between the apostles?”
“That’s likely… Well, I won’t force anything upon you all. It’ll probably end up being a monumental battle between me and the God versus the malevolent God and the apostles.”
“Do you think we’re cowards who only let His Highness face the danger alone?”
“Your Highness… We are your shield and your spear, aren’t we? It’s only natural for us to join the fight.”
Varon spoke up.
“Please don’t bear this burden alone. What do you think we’ve been seeking strength for?”
Added Kaito.
“If His Highness is going, it’s obvious we’ll go too.”
Asserted Gaizef.
“Exactly, Your Highness. We’re here for you. We’ll continue to strive not to hold you back.”
Stated Leonardo.
“We’re with you, Your Highness…”
Agreed Joseph.
“I’ll fight too, with all I’ve got.”
Contributed El.
“A battle against the apostles, huh? They must be strong.”
Mused Loki.
“Yeah, they’re probably tough. But it’s only natural for us to join the fight, right?”
Added Lona.
“So, the battle you mentioned earlier was about that? Well, that sounds like an amazing fight.”
Commented Beldor.
“I’d like to challenge even stronger opponents… No, the strongest opponents.”
Concluded Zen.
“I mean, I owe my life to His Highness, after all. I don’t have the right to refuse, but of course, I’ll accompany you too.”
Sutea said.
Looking around the room, everyone had a determined expression as they looked at me.
I’m truly fortunate… I thought to myself once again.
“No one will lose their lives. I’ll be at the forefront. Any objections?”
“No objections!!!”
“Seems like you’ve got good companions there, Arus.”
“They’re your companions too, aren’t they? Creator.”
“…Are they now? Well then, perhaps I should greet them. And maybe give them some blessings… Though I can’t grant them the power of the apostles.”
“You’re generous.”
Watching me grin and speak, everyone once again turned their gaze towards me.
“Let me introduce everyone…”
“To whom, Your Highness?”
Lona tilted her head, looking at me.
“Isn’t it obvious? It’s the Creator.”
“What?!?”
ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー
It was strange to see others besides me moving, but indeed, the Creator was there.
“Is this a more divine production than usual?”
I asked the Creator, leaving everyone else stunned and silent.
“This form carries more dignity, doesn’t it?”
“Everyone’s frozen in surprise, aren’t they?”
“Well… if that’s the case, let’s stop.”
With that, the golden aura around the Creator dissipated.
“Nice to meet you all. I am the Creator… Zeus.”
The room fell silent.
It was Varon who finally spoke up.
“We didn’t doubt Your Highness’s words, but seeing you appear before us like this… it’s truly astonishing, to the point where we don’t know how to react.”
“G-God! Um… I-I wish for a happy marriage!!”
Lona suddenly blurted out her wish.
“Lona… don’t pray. And isn’t that embarrassing?”
“S-Sorry! I, um…”
“I mentioned to Arus earlier, but I think I’ll grant everyone my blessing.”
“I-Is that really alright for us too?”
“Are you not Varon? Of course. You’re fighting alongside Arus against the apostles of the Evil God, so it’s only fair.”
The Creator then proceeded to bestow his blessings upon each person.
“I feel a surge of power.”
As Lona remarked, the Creator’s blessing alone provided a significant enhancement, rewarding their efforts.
“My blessing rewards effort. Keep striving, and you’ll reap the benefits.”
And thus, the first encounter with the Creator came to an end.
From now on, we must also be vigilant of the movements of the apostles of the Evil God.
