Chapter 51: The Revolutionary Army’s Defeat
“Beldor and Zen have become apostles of that god? Servants of His Highness the Crown Prince? I understand that, but why… am I alive? I should have certainly died…”
Saying so, the Yellow Oni, Sutea, tilts her head in confusion.
That was about 30 minutes ago…
ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー
“Sigh, I wish we could have recruited another one of the executives to our side as well. Why did you have to kill Emilio… and in such a brutal manner, no less? It’s excessive…”
“Are you really one to talk, Your Highness?”
Lorna stands beside me, who am in a slump, and stares at me with an exasperated look.
“No, but I managed to keep two of the executives alive, and in the end, look, we even captured some prisoners, right?”
“You were about to kill them in what you called an ‘experiment’, by cutting them in half at the torso…”
“That was… to check how severe an injury they could recover from.”
“If that had failed, the Blue Oni would have died, right?”
“Guh… Indeed. Well, but look! He survived.”
“Haa…”
Lately, Lorna has been acting so mature.
Not so long ago, she was such a fool.
Really… people do grow.
“If you want that girl as a subordinate so badly, why not resurrect her?”
“Eh? Is such a thing possible? Creator God.”
“No, not I, but you should be able to do it.”
“No way, seriously… Can I really do that?”
“Normally, it would be impossible… However, if there’s a good compatibility… and since that girl had more magical power than others, her soul might still be wandering. If you can create a form with your creation, it’s possible to call back her soul and resurrect her.”
“Hey, hey, does that mean I have to put her soul into a doll I create?”
“Well, it’s something similar to that. If you put it that way, the ancestors of the people in this world were created by me in a similar manner.”
“…When you put it like that, yeah.”
“Right?”
“Got it. I’ll give it a try. But I don’t know what she looked like.”
“If you touch her soul, you should be able to understand her appearance. With your current abilities, I believe it’s possible.”
“Sounds like a cheat. Alright, I’ll give it a try.”
After finishing the conversation with the god, I noticed Lorna and Emilio, who had arrived at some point, looking at me with strained faces.
“Talking with the Creator God?”
“Yeah, just a bit.”
“Do you usually have such casual conversations with Him, Your Highness?”
“Uh, well, it’s kinda like talking to a grandpa.”
“The Creator God is… like a grandpa…”
“Anyway, I’m going to perform an experiment now… Let me concentrate for a bit.”
“Another experiment?”
And so, under the watchful eyes of my subordinates, soldiers, and both Beldor and Zen, I started to imagine and create what the Creator God had told me.
Soul… soul…
Aha, so this is Sutea.
She’s quite a beautiful woman, isn’t she?
First, I create the body… and then… fit the soul into it… Hmm, this really uses a ton of MP and HP… Well, it makes sense since I’m bringing back the dead…
Okay, next is to do this… Hmm… The human body is tricky.
I’ll make her chest a bit larger.
Yeah, yeah… This is kindness.
Alright, with this, if I just do this…
That’s when I lost consciousness.
As expected, resurrection magic is… exhausting.
ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー
Those who witnessed it were astonished and their eyes widened at the miracle before them.
Suddenly, Arus began to mutter something under his breath as divine wings flickered into existence. A vast wave of magical power stormed around him, and a godly light blinked from the heavens.
Whether it was a minute or tens of minutes, everyone stopped thinking and was captivated by it.
Then, in the midst of the divine pillar of light, a woman appeared, floating in the air.
Seeing this, Beldor and Zen widened their eyes even more, their mouths agape.
After an exceptionally bright flash of light, the woman gently landed on the ground, and at the same moment, Arus lost consciousness.
The soldiers and subordinates panicked, but soon they could tell he was still breathing and a sense of relief washed over them.
Then, Beldor and Zen, who approached the woman, spoke.
“Sutea was… pulverized and died, right?”
“I too have heard that.”
“But this is… Ah, without a doubt, it’s Sutea. And she’s breathing.”
“Did he resurrect the dead?”
Hearing that conversation, those around them finally understood the situation.
In other words, a deceased commander of the revolutionary army had been resurrected.
And not as an undead, but in the flesh.
This anecdote would later become legendary.
The apostle of God who could even wield resurrection magic… Arus Silvasta=Beelzebuth.
However, upon waking up, Arus was inevitably scolded by Lorna, “Really, please don’t worry me anymore! I’ve told you to explain things beforehand so many times!!!”
ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー
“So, Sutea… will you become my subordinate?”
“Having been brought back to life by you, is there even another choice?”
“Well, if you dislike it, you’re free to live your life elsewhere.”
“You… You brought me back from the dead. Do you understand what that means?”
“I just did what I could. If you feel grateful, direct that gratitude towards the inherent magical power that wove your soul. I merely summoned that soul back.”
“That’s too profound for me to understand. I will… live for you, no matter what anyone says.”
“Is that so… That helps.”
“Also… thank you for the… breasts.”
“Ah… consider that a bonus.”
Ignoring Sutea’s blush, Arus is delighted, thinking yet another subordinate has joined his ranks!
Thus, the expedition towards the revolutionary army’s stronghold concludes with a complete victory.
ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー
Meanwhile, another detachment of the revolutionary army attacking the Demon Emperor’s castle was in a state of ruin, decimated by Gazef’s elite forces.
“I don’t know how you got in, but… you won’t be leaving alive, you know,” Gazef, shouldering a war axe as large as a giant, glares fiercely at the white and black demons standing before him.
“Merely entering here has nearly completed our plan. Go ahead, Lona.”
“Okay… understood.”
A massive amount of magical power begins to overflow from the body of the white demon named Lona. Then, enveloped by the black demon’s magic, numerous magic circles start to emerge around them.
“Hey, hey… don’t tell me you’re planning to blow yourselves up here?”
Gazef watches the scene with a face as if he has bitten into a bitter bug.
“That’s exactly it… We came here for that purpose.”
The black demon, having finished deploying the magic first, responds to Gazef.
“Our unique magic as a duo is ‘Complete Bombardment’. We exchange our lives to destroy everything around us.”
“Coming all this way with a death wish… You guys are truly troublesome. All units, deploy all the defensive magic you’ve got!!”
Gazef, despite his dismay, shows a hint of urgency as he issues orders to his subordinates.
“It’s futile. This magic is a trade with our lives. It can’t be stopped by defensive magic.”
“The Meltvan clan, huh… I remember that magic now. Born once in a generation, a pair of twins. One acts as the body of the explosion, the other as the trigger. That magic turns everything around it to ashes…”
“Remembered, have you? Yes… We are the surviving members of the Meltvan clan, erased in secrecy due to the danger of our magic by your empire. The Meltvan family has sworn loyalty to the royal family for generations. And yet… just because our unique magic was deemed dangerous… Do you know? Do you know how harsh a life we, the surviving Meltvans, have been forced into? Without food, without a place to live, and even without a name to call our own… What have we done to deserve this!! We haven’t done anything…”
“So, you’re using that magic here?”
“Yes. We recommend you keep your distance. The activation preparation is already complete.”
Amidst the layers of defensive magic being deployed, Gazef realized the gravity of the situation. If the magic were to be used here, it could engulf the castle and even the imperial capital in a catastrophic situation. However, it was already impossible to stop.
What to do? How to defend? Gazef frantically searched his mind for a solution, but no answer came.
“Did you know? Your predecessors were apparently plotting to betray the royal family, taking a leading role in that plan.”
In the midst of this, Arus had suddenly appeared beside Gazef. He was supposed to be on an expedition… but why here?
“Whoever you are, do you think we would believe such a lie?”
“Believe it or not, it’s the truth. Look.”
Saying this, Arus, who had suddenly appeared in front of the black demon, showed a piece of parchment. It was a letter detailing intentions and plans to betray the royal family. The sender was a former head of the Meltvan family, and the black demon recognized the signature as genuine.
“Why…?”
“The magic was powerful, and he wanted more authority and wealth… That’s what the Meltvan head said before he died.”
“My father…”
“My own father witnessed the last moments of your clan’s head… confirmed just now by Demon King Silva Silva Viberui Belzebute himself. There’s no mistake.”
“Father… The Emperor… You are, the prince?”
“Yes. I am Arus Silva Belzebute, the Crown Prince of the Great Belzebute Kingdom.”
“If that’s true… then what have we been fighting for…”
“Brother!! I… I can’t hold on any longer… we can’t go on…”
“Please run, Your Highness… We can’t stop this magic anymore.”
“Huh? It can be stopped, though?”
“Huh?”
With those words, Arus directed his hand towards the white demon, releasing a tremendous amount of magical power. Shortly thereafter, the magical reaction from the white demon vanished.
The magical circles, too, were all erased.
“How did you…”
“I just erased the magic. It seemed dangerous to try and dispel it normally, so I thought I’d try erasing it entirely. Glad it worked.”
Afterward, the black and white demons were reunited with their former subordinates. They were a bit surprised to find that three of their officers were now serving under the Crown Prince but quickly accepted it. They understood that serving under such a prince would likely grant their companions a happier life than they could have offered.
We only had the path of death before us.
Yet, our subordinates, unaware of the truth, followed us into this reckless plan without meaning.
All we can wish for is their happiness.
Surrounded by soldiers, the two demons saw the Crown Prince appear before them again. Then, he cheerfully declared,
“Shall we go then?”
Eh?
The surrounding soldiers also wore expressions of “Eh?”
And the Crown Prince said,
“Alright. Both of you, come with me!”
Saying that, he led us somewhere. Before we knew it, soldiers clad in different armor from before surrounded us.
The room we were brought into was the throne room. I later heard that this was a reception hall specifically for the Crown Prince.
The Crown Prince sat down in the chair in the room. In a panic, my sister and I knelt.
“So, what will you do from now on?”
The Crown Prince asked in a light tone.
“Excuse me? Um…”
“Look, all the grudges and stuff are gone now, right? So, what do you want to do going forward?”
“Um, we are to be executed, aren’t we?”
“Eh? You still want to die?”
“No, not…”
“Both of you have quite a bit of talent, and if you no longer wish to die, why not join me?”
“‘Eh?’”
“Well, if you say you want to go on a journey, that might be difficult, but see, I’m the Crown Prince, right? So, if I say I want you as my subordinates, it happens… So, what will it be? Will you become my subordinates?”
“Is that really okay? For us to…”
“The revolution… it never happened, right? No problem there.”
“But… we…”
“Everyone has their difficult pasts, right? That’s one thing, but I think now you have a future. Forget about the past, and let’s walk towards the future with me! Wow, I just said something super cheesy, didn’t I?”
The Crown Prince laughed somewhat.
This person possesses an incredible charisma.
My sister and I couldn’t even begin to fathom it.
This is… the heir to the Demon King…
“What will you do?”
“Please… we would be honored.”
“I too… will do my best!”
“I see… okay, okay. That’s good to hear. Well then, everyone from the former Revolutionary Army, nice to meet you.”
The Crown Prince smiled in such a way… that clearly showed he was the one in charge of us.
