Chapter 47: The Experiments Begin
The army advancing towards the Revolutionary Army’s headquarters in the eastern part of the Demon Empire consisted of a total of 10,000 troops.
Considering the information of 4,000 troops, it might seem quite numerous, but it’s better to be safe than sorry.
The reason for not deploying more troops is due to the command of His Highness the Crown Prince, who ordered not to mobilize the defense forces of the capital and other key locations.
Under the instructions of General Gazef, Emilio Astra, the deputy commander, felt intimidated by the aura emanating from the large carriage pulled by Tricorns coming from behind.
“Astra-sama… Truly formidable, isn’t it? His Highness the Crown Prince…”
“Even more overwhelming than General, indeed. Truly fitting for His Majesty’s heir.”
“What would happen if His Highness the Crown Prince were to become angry and go on a rampage?”
“We would die in an instant. Make sure such a thing never happens.”
“Yes, sir! Our lives are the most valuable possessions we have.”
Unaware of the looming danger on the other side, Arus remained inside the carriage, pondering which magic spells could be useful.
Man… There are seriously a lot of options.
Being able to use magic of all attributes means the possibilities are endless.
Choosing from there would be seriously time-consuming.
I have to select the ones that seem useful in advance.
That’s why I’m currently reading through magic books of all attributes while selecting usable ones.
By the way, it’s a unique skill called “Creation”…
Is it a skill rather than magic?
I was puzzled, but I understood the reason.
“Creation” means I can produce anything, as long as it’s not a living being and it’s something I’m aware of.
But the catch is, while magic consumes MP, this uses HP instead.
Meaning, if I create a weapon of immense size and power, I could potentially die.
Well, just understanding that makes it pretty powerful.
Thanks to my HP being far beyond that of ordinary people, the chance of dying is almost non-existent.
No, now I have to think about magic…
What could be useful?
Hmm…
Wait, there’s an incredible one…
The magic used by my father… teleportation.
That’s supposed to be the highest level of non-magic.
With my current abilities, I might be able to use it.
I hastily grab the book on non-magic and start thoroughly reading the page about teleportation magic.
Hmm, it’s possible to teleport only to places I’ve been before, or where I have a clear understanding of the coordinates…
Alright, let’s try it… somewhere around the castle courtyard…
Wait, hold on! If I teleport now and then try to come back, the carriage might have moved, and I could end up outside of it, right?
“Lorna…”
“Yes, what is it?”
“I’m going to conduct a little experiment. Could you stop the carriage for a moment?”
“An experiment, you say? Understood…”
After instructing Lorna, who was riding along, to stop the carriage, it seemed like the entire march came to a halt.
Well, it probably wasn’t necessary to make such a big deal out of it…
Oh well… I should be able to come back now.
“Alright, Lorna… I’m going to return to the castle for a moment.”
“Huh?”
Focusing on the courtyard of the castle, I activate the teleportation magic…
“Teleport.”
ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー
By the way, as long as you understand the magic, you can activate it without chanting the spell or speaking the words.
Some prefer to chant to make the magic clearer and improve their skill, but among the magical beings, it’s generally considered a waste of time to keep uttering the names of spells.
※ Originally, chanting is more common among humans, who typically have lower aptitude for magic.
ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー
After the sensation of floating for a moment, I suddenly found myself standing in the courtyard of the castle.
“Huh? Arus! When did you…?”
“You were supposed to be on the march… Huh? Have you learned teleportation magic?”
Just then, I encountered my mother and father, who were taking a walk in the courtyard.
“Mother, Father… It’s been a while. I returned momentarily to conduct an experiment with teleportation magic. By the way, Father… this magic is quite convenient, isn’t it?”
“To learn teleportation magic at your age… Truly remarkable. You’re truly exceptional.”
My father looked at me with a face that clearly showed his surprise.
“Teleportation magic is amazing! You’re truly something, Arus.”
My mother reached out to pat my head.
Their overprotectiveness was unchanged.
“Huh, Arus? When did you get back?”
“Arus! You’re back already?”
“Big brother!”
Then, Dad, Mom, and Mel appeared too.
“I came back for an experiment with teleportation magic.”
“What!? Teleportation magic? You can use it?”
“That’s amazing, Arus! It’s a high-level spell, isn’t it? Even I couldn’t use teleportation…”
Father and Mother also praised me, petting me as if I did something remarkable.
But I’m already an adult, you know?
Mel, who has recently become more conscious of her appearance, looked at me with sparkling eyes.
“Big brother, you’re truly amazing.”
Mel said, hugging me, though it seems that at some point her way of addressing me changed from ‘big brother’ to a more formal ‘big brother’.
“I should go back so everyone won’t worry!”
I told everyone, imagining the inside of the carriage to return.
Then, Mel approached me.
“Big brother!”
“Hm? What’s up?”
“Good luck in battle…”
“Thank you. When I come back, let’s go out and have fun with teleportation magic.”
“Yes! I’m looking forward to it.”
I patted Mel’s head, which seemed to be full of concern.
Now, it’s time to return.
“Your Highness!! Where did you disappear to?”
“Hm? I just went back to the castle for a bit with teleportation magic.”
“What!?”
As soon as I returned, Lorna approached me, visibly flustered.
Sorry about that. I guess I didn’t explain enough.
“Well, the experiment was a success.”
“Please tell us before you do something like that next time. Everyone was worried…”
“Ah, yeah. My apologies.”
Lorna, of all people, was acting like the adult in the situation.
And so, my experiment with teleportation magic was a success.
The MP consumption was indeed enormous, but given my current, exceptionally high MP, I was confident this spell was usable.
Alright, a few more days until we arrive. Maybe I’ll conduct some more magic experiments…
