After Jing Qizhen finished his discussion with the Earth, he relayed the Earth’s attitude to Tang Song.

Tang Song nodded, indicating he understood.

Although Yun Shuanghua’s identity had been untraceable before, to be cautious, Tang Song took the clear frontal photo of Yun Shuanghua that Jing Qizhen had provided and sent out a few more inquiries.

Finally, Tang Song furrowed his brows slightly and said to Jing Qizhen, “I’ll increase the intensity of the investigation this time.”

Although Tang Song didn’t spell it out, everyone could guess the likely result. Yun Shuanghua would once again be untraceable in the real world.

Jing Qizhen didn’t say much, only silently speculating that Yun Shuanghua was about to receive the treatment of a wanted criminal or terrorist thanks to Tang Song.

…Unless he never appeared in the real world again.

After addressing Yun Shuanghua, Tang Song naturally shifted his focus to the Filipino maid.

Tang Song rubbed his chin and mused, “Being directly recognized as an ally by the NPC faction in the erosion area… That’s quite an interesting trait. The question is whether this trait is unique to the fairy tale kingdom or applies to any erosion area, allowing her to potentially act as a safe ‘bystander.’”

Lu Lingxi and Gu Leshan, knowing their boss well, couldn’t help but ask, “Interested?”

Tang Song replied, “You don’t need to worry about this. I’ll approach her later.”

Jing Qizhen: “…” He suddenly had the feeling that Tang Song was about to recruit another member for the volunteer team.

The Earth, curious, quickly asked, “What’s he trying to do?”

Jing Qizhen replied, “He’s probably planning to expand the team.”

Of course, it would likely only happen after Tang Song confirmed that the housemaid’s ability wasn’t limited to only one erosion area.

While their conversation remained relatively light, chaos had already erupted among the foreigners outside.

David ran up to Caroline, hugging her joyfully. “Dear Caroline, I’m so relieved to see you safe!”

Caroline patted David’s shoulder, feeling that after all she had been through, calling it ‘safe’ wasn’t entirely accurate.

Jing Qizhen glanced at them through the car window, his gaze focused on David.

Sitting next to him, Tang Song naturally explained, “That’s David, Caroline’s friend, the host of the party and the owner of this villa.”

Manman leaned against Si Jiayang’s shoulder, tilting her head slightly to look outside. “And most importantly, he’s the owner of the ‘Fairy Tale Anthology’.”

The female ghost, Miss Li from the Yunhai Wancheng Department Store, was murdered unjustly and died with deep resentment. In the remote mountain village of Shennongjia, the death of Xu Erya weighed heavily on her sister Xu Siya for years.

Although the sample size was still small, it appeared that the previous two erosion areas were created based on an alternative possibility in the real world, with their erosion cores tied to humans.

However, the erosion area that formed in the Boston villa had a different core: a book.

Jing Qizhen did not avert his gaze and seriously asked, “Is there a way to get that ‘Fairy Tale Anthology’ from David? And I think it’s worth taking another careful look at his villa.”

Logically, no matter how old or rich in stories a book might be, it shouldn’t possess consciousness.

However, the ‘Fairy Tale Anthology’ might hold significant clues.

Tang Song followed Jing Qizhen’s gaze and nodded. “I’ll negotiate with David later.”

Manman casually added, “Unless he’s a fanatic for supernatural phenomena, he probably won’t want to keep that book.”

Jin Guijuan was curious. “Sister Manman, why do you say that?”

Manman explained, “Because that book represents trouble, along with this villa. Unless he wants to chase the truth himself, keeping them would just be a burden. Anyway, none of them are short on money. Forget the book, David probably won’t even want the villa anymore.”

Grandma Fang, who had stayed outside with Tang Song, had been seriously examining the vine samples Jing Qizhen brought out from the erosion area. Hearing Manman’s words, she nodded thoughtfully. “After all, three people have already died here. Those foreigners will have a lot of disputes to settle!”

It was just like people who refuse to move out of a haunted house. The reason they stayed was likely because of the sunk cost of buying or renting the place. If they weren’t concerned about money, most normal people would’ve already called the police and left as soon as possible.

Jin Guijuan, who had experienced her share of hardships, instantly understood. She sighed empathetically. “I heard from a college student who worked part-time at a supermarket during holidays that he once rented a house like that with his friends!”

Jing Qizhen was puzzled. “What kind of house? A haunted one?”

Jin Guijuan had a complicated expression. “Not haunted… It was a house where someone stored urns. Some people buy properties just to store family urns. Later, if the property appreciates, they can sell it. It’s like combining an investment with preserving their family’s remains.”

Jing Qizhen: “…”

Everyone else: “…”

Even Tang Song was a bit stunned. “That’s a thing?”

Jin Guijuan explained, “He said it was a three-bedroom, one-living-room house, about 130 square meters. The smallest room was specifically for urns and the door was always locked. The other two sunny bedrooms were rented out, one per tenant. The total rent was just a few hundred Yuan a month.”

Everyone else: “…”

Jing Qizhen hesitated, then imagined the situation. “Well… actually, it’s not that strange. When you think about it, the land suitable for human habitation on Earth is limited. Almost every piece of land has bones buried underneath it.”

The Earth chimed in enthusiastically, “Exactly! And so many humans love coral reefs. Aren’t those just piles of dead coral skeletons?”

Jing Qizhen silently replied to the Earth, “By that logic, Europe has quite a few ossuaries, too.”

The Earth agreed. “Yeah! And lots of humans love visiting those ossuaries. It’s all the same thing!”

Jing Qizhen found the comparison reasonable but understood that many people wouldn’t be comfortable with it.

Even the usually laid-back Grandma Fang glanced at Jing Qizhen and waved her hand dismissively, urging him to stop talking.

As a biology professor, Grandma Fang was quite open-minded about such matters. At her age, she had a much more detached view of life and death than younger people.

However, years of ingrained cultural beliefs still gave her a natural inclination to ‘respect ghosts and spirits from a distance’.

If it were for storing their own ancestors’ remains, it might be understandable. But renting a room in someone else’s house used to store urns just to save money? That kind of unconventional thinking was far beyond Grandma Fang’s imagination.

The bizarre nature of Jin Guijuan’s story inevitably caught everyone’s attention for a while. It wasn’t until another round of commotion erupted among the foreigners outside that the group turned their focus back.

Since his younger cousin Joyce was also present and Wilcox, along with the relatives of the other missing persons, were already familiar with each other, Wilcox didn’t return to the car with Jing Qizhen and the others. Instead, he stayed with his distressed cousin to face the chaos directly.

The deaths of Sophia, Sean, and Williams deeply shocked their families.

When the surviving guests shared some photos taken during the incident, the bizarre circumstances surrounding the trio’s deaths left their loved ones seething with anger.

“What happened to my poor Sophia?” a grieving woman cried, her voice tinged with sorrow and fury.

Learning about their relatives’ strange deaths, along with the fact that there were no remains to retrieve, made the victims’ families even more distraught.

McCain frowned.

Having just escaped the unpleasant ordeal inside the villa, Professor Jones and the others were overwhelmed by the chaos.

Although they were also victims of the incident, the villa’s host, David, became the primary target of everyone’s anger. Despite his claims of innocence, David found himself under heavy scrutiny, with only his friend Caroline standing by his side.

Even though Professor Jones, McCain, and others had accepted Jing Qizhen’s explanation about the erosion areas, they still harbored doubts about why the villa became one.

Old Xiao wiped the sweat off his forehead and muttered, “What a mess…”

Tang Song, however, was unbothered. “The more chaotic the situation, the easier it is for us to strike a deal with David.”

If the foreigners weren’t arguing among themselves, David might hesitate to hand over his troubles to a stranger like Tang Song. But in the current chaos, David would naturally take the opportunity to offload both the book and the villa to Tang Song’s ‘expert team’ to extricate himself quickly.

Grandma Fang, who hadn’t entered the erosion area but was still deeply moved by the thought of the three young people who lost their lives, sighed, “What a tragedy…”

They were lucky to have survived and to have kept their team intact.

Jing Qizhen glanced at Tang Song and reminded him, “It’s your turn.”

Tang Song opened the car door and stepped out without hesitation.

Manman, with her sharp eyes, noticed the thick stack of documents Tang Song grabbed as he exited the car. She suddenly realized, “Isn’t that the survival guide for erosion areas?”

Jing Qizhen nodded. “Yes, it seems he’s planning to distribute copies to the victims’ families.”

Jin Guijuan leaned closer and asked, “Why is Tang Song choosing now to release the documents? Was he holding onto them all this time?”

Jing Qizhen explained, “Because Caroline and Joyce already have the documents. After all, he’s a paid expert. It’s his moment to step in.”

Tang Song’s appearance did little to soothe the emotions of the victims’ families. However, the documents he presented about the erosion area significantly calmed the frantic and heavily criticized David.

The man clutched his hair in despair, seemingly flustered and overwhelmed. Yet, his gaze betrayed not panic but a hint of irritation beneath his surface distress.

“This was a natural accident! An unforeseen incident! None of us wanted this!” David’s voice carried a note of sorrow.

Caroline stood beside him and was suddenly pulled into his embrace as if to steady his shaking composure.

Tang Song’s tone was professionally composed and exuded an air of authority. “Our team of experts needs rest for now. Later, we will provide a detailed rescue report and an evaluation of this erosion area.”

Seizing the moment, David broke free from the chaos and quickly added, “Thank you for your efforts. We’re deeply grateful. God bless you!”

Tang Song maintained his stern demeanor, responding evenly, “We would like to investigate this villa further. Also, have you ever come into possession of a book titled ‘Fairy Tale Anthology’?”

Caroline ran her fingers through her hair nervously, chiming in for David, “There were many unexplainable, non-scientific phenomena inside the erosion area! Oh, and those special items Jing Qizhen took!”

Tang Song glanced at her and clarified, “We can lend them out for research purposes but their ownership remains with us. It was stipulated in the rescue agreement from the start.”

Caroline inhaled deeply, relenting, “Of course, the ownership of those items belongs to you.”

At that moment, a staff member from a separate search and rescue team suddenly interjected, “What special items?”

Caroline explained, “Evidence proving we encountered a highly dangerous, non-scientific event!”

Meanwhile, Jing Qizhen and his companions, still in the car, overheard the exchange between Tang Song and the others.

Lu Lingxi suddenly remarked, “Those were the people who entered the restricted zone with us but couldn’t access the erosion area.”

From the beginning, they had prepared thoroughly before entering the erosion area.

In truth, someone like Gu Leshan, who was exceptionally skilled in combat, had been assigned specifically to handle other humans who might enter the erosion area.

However, by sheer coincidence, only their own team members had entered, leaving that preparation unnecessary during their time inside.

Jing Qizhen’s gaze landed on the stranger who had just asked the question. After mentally noting their appearance and build, his eyes shifted to the special items he had handed over to Tang Song, retrieved from within the erosion area.

A sudden premonition struck him. Their journey back home was unlikely to be peaceful…
